im a bodybuilder and i want to switch to powerlifting. what would you say is your number one online resource? and what would be the best book i could buy on powerlifting, with a value synonymous with what arnold's encyclopedia is to weightlifting?

Interesting question.
I've learned more from the articles and q&a at elitefts.com than anywhere else. Most of the information there is geared to one methodology (cybernetic periodisation).
deepsquatter.com has archives of excellent articles covering a variety of training methodologies, and is a good place to start.

thanks.
I agree with Paul.
I say save your money and don't bother with a book. There are thousands of resources available online that are better than the best book.

elitefts is great and so is deepsquatter.
Dolfzine is another place for great articles: http://www.dolfzine.com/altpage03.htm
Here is a link to over 100 strength training forums:

why aren't there more articles devoted to bodybuilding/powerlifting/athletic sports? such as these forums that were posted above?

Because no one has taken the time to link them all from a central location. Making the list of forums took me several months of searching and following links - keeping it current is a whole separate big pain in the butt....
I've been trying to add things, like articles, on-line stores, etc., but to do it well takes more time than I can give. If anyone would like to help me, I'd be very grateful. http://p083.ezboard.com/fmoosecallfrm23
