would white rice or oatmeal be better for a pre workout meal.

from reading i beleive that white rice would be better for post workout because of the gi level, but was wondering if thats what you want for pre.

thanks for all replysssss

I do NOT think it will make that much of a difference.

Try 'em both and see which one you prefer.

Too many variables - how the rice or the oats is prepared, what you eat with it...

Bottom line - they're both starch. They'll both work.

Mmmm... starch...

Go with the oats, brown rice is better than white. If youre bulking...who cares :)

Brown rice and white rice aren't all that different on the GI scale.

I usually do oats pre and post.

If your going for an insulin spike why not just have a shake with dextrose post workout? Eat it sooner and less cooking and chewing involved.

Me too. I like oats because they make me full and keep me fuller longer. I could eat tons of rice before feeling full. and yes, reg white rice is not that diff. than brown. If its instant, or parboiled tho, stay away its really high GI.

smalls -

I'm cutting. I like to chew as much of my food as possible.

But yes, dextrose works like a hot damn for an insulin spike.

white rice is great for a pre workout, non-cutting meal and for a post workout meal.

however, whilst cutting, it is oats all the whey

I was actually adressing bigmalone, he kept stressing the high GI of white rice. If that's what he wants, there are cheaper, easier alternatives.

I'll never understand you chewers. :)
