I think I did pretty good for a first timer. Heres my lifts

Squat:
Open:275->Easy
2nd:300->struggled a little
3rd:315->Failed :swear:

Bench:
Open:195->so easy
2nd:210->little struggle. Should have done 215 instead.
3rd:220->failed I don't get it.

Power Clean:
Open: 195-> Easy
2nd:215->Easy, but should have went with 220
3rd:225->Failed, this one pissed me off the most.

Anyways heres how I did out of 15 other 156'ers. I placed 5th on squat, 4th on bench and clean, and 5th over all. And if I would have got my max for clean I would have tied for 3rd :cry: . I placed 2nd on everything out of the 156'ers from my school. Well going to the meet was a great experience got to see a lot of things that I've never seen before like the HW from our school break the state record and set a PR on squat for 600. Saw this other guy from our school break the state record for power clean in the 181 class with 330(He say he should have went for 350). Our school's over all got 1st for girls and the guys, we barely got 2nd by 1 point(94-93) they said thats been the closest score ever for the top 2. This is something that I am definitely going to do again next year.

Future Marine,

nice work, we are all proud of you. I know you will continue to improve each and every meet. I can remember my first meet as if it were last week and it was abou 25 years ago. I hope you pursue competition when you are on active duty as they are many oppurtunities for that.

Mind if I ask the guys that beat you on the bench...what did they put up?

FM: No worries about the gender mistake. It happens a lot. I mean, I do use this avatar of a guy sitting there playing the horn, right?

I would put up a nice lovely picture of myself like Built uses, but I don't have any 'cause I'm such a fatass. ;)

Meet is in September; I just got into PL recently so I'll be doing this for the first time at the dreaded age of 40!

Keith Wassung-Thanks, and I actually was thinking about going to powerlifting competions when I go to the Marines, be part of a lifting team.

Jarod-yea thats what my coach told me too, a lot people said I did pretty good especially since it was state.

Holy Wars-thanks bro. And I see your lifts are going up fast.

Gutz981-well 1st got 250 on bench, 2nd and 3rd both put up 225. So if you were there you could have got 2nd.

tholian8-lol still feel like an ass. Girls should put that girl symbol that built has in her sig. September is a while away and thats good for you.

Paul Stagg-yea thats how I saw it. Can't wait till next competion.

Nice this was a state meet...You did good...Nice job man...You've insprired me to go compete now thanks! Oh yeah one more question can you compete for just one thing? like just bench or just deadlift?

Future Marine
05-01-2005, 12:54 PM
Yea you could just do 1 lift but I thinks its funner to just do them all even if your other lifts aren't as good. Plus it adds to your total.

270 lb. deadlift @ 152 lb. bodyweight isn't bad at all. Your squat seems a little low though.

JAROD

i allwas dont do good in meets becuse of my deadlift which is 225 my bodyweigh is 139 so im in the 145 class and most the guys are deadlifting over 300

Optimum08

unfortunatly at the Kansas State meet they have clean instead of deadlift...one of which i excel at (deadlift) one of which i do not (clean)...haha also i most likely would have attended but i had my junior prom the same day so i really didn't feel like going...

Future Marine

Do you know why they sub deadlifts with cleans.

Two of the big three were always my fav... I had over 1000 lbs right there when I was in 10th grade. But then I got out of football and never did them so they went down a little.

But you did good, for your weight you did impressive numbers and your squat needs only the littlest bit of work and youll be good. A good rule of thumb for sever powerlifters is 3x your weight on squat and deads and 2x on bench... you do that and youll be right up there with the best.
