I know quite a few of the popular mags say 1.0 - 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight per day . SHouldn't that be 1.0 -1.5 grams per pound of lean body mass? Just a question
Thanks brian
I weight 260 and its hard to take in that much protein!

I usually tell people to go by their "goal weight" if they're overweight.

Check the diet forums. I would say 260g of protein is far too much if you have a high bf%.

I say it depends on your goals. If you want to gain mass (bulk) I'd go by your current total bodyweight (assuming you don't have 26% bodyfat ;) This helps ensure a protein/calorie surplus.
If you're cutting, go by your lean mass weight. This way you get enough protien to maintain muscle.
