View Full Version : Skippy Natural PB, legit?

Ok, I bought some Skippy Natural PB at Target the other day and the stuff is damn good, tastes like real pb.

Nutrition Facts as follows
serv size 2 Tbsp
calories 190
protein 8 gr.
carbs 6 gr.
dietary fiber 2 g
sugars 3 g
Fat 16g
saturated fat 3.5 g

Ingredients: Peanuts, Sugar, Palm Oil, Salt.

I am beginning to feel like I have been dooped. The sugar albeit is just a small amount more then likely. Palm Oil for emulsion? I am guessing palm oil is why you don't need to stir it.

Is this pb ok? I only eat it maybe once a week for refeeds. Should I continue buying it once i'm out or go back to smuckers natty pb?

I just got some of that yesterday, and was going to ask the same thing. It's like identical to regular peanut butter, though it's supposed to be natural. /shrug

Sugar and Palm Oil are both natural, I suppose, so technically it is natural.

But realistically, you both need to use some common ****ing sense.

Dude, i don't know anything about peanut butter...lol

no sugar in any natty pb i've ever used.

i saw this in the store a couple of weeks ago but didn't look at the label. i noticed they had some other "mainstream" brands that had natural labels on them... i think they were skippy, jif and reese's.

Yeah I bought w/o looking at the label.... Next time I'll use some common ****ing sense.

is natty pb supposed to seperate?

05-04-2005, 11:40 PM
Yes it is.

You give it a good stir, then store it upside down.

where do you guys get your natural pb at/how much does it cost? i've probably been eating the unhealthy jif, but you can get it so cheap at sam's club, although i enjoy crunchy more, the smooth is like $4.99 for 2 big containers in a 2 pack (and i usually go through that 2 pack in like 3 weeks, maybe less now that my brother's back from school)

God Natty peanutbutter is expensive here.
500g container(the biggest I have found to date)

smuckers at wal-mart is $2.25/jar

That pb is def "legit" as you put it, I have eaten organic PB with the same ingredients, some people just dont like the stirring. Probably not quite as good for you as something made just out of peanuts though.

There are far worse things out there than a little palm oil. It's a naturally saturated fat, and small amounts of naturally saturated fats are good for you.

try smuckers natural pb, defintaly the best pb on the public market.

I'l have to disagree with you on that one, if you live somewhere near a Whole Foods Market try their store brand, absolutely delicious.

Ok so uh how do I keep this stupid natty PB from seperating all the time!?
Its rather annoying :o

05-06-2005, 09:18 PM
Like I said earlier, give it a really good stir, then store it upside down.

05-06-2005, 09:23 PM
Psssh, that would be SO messy though....isnt it? :p

05-06-2005, 09:23 PM
No - you screw the lid on and it's fine.

Im taking your advice here...your credibility is on the line! :)

Hey, I walk the talk on this one, buddy.

Natty PB is very serious business.

Seriously, you'll just keep it emulsified this way. The oil keeps rising to the top, and every time you open it, you can give it a little stir if you want to keep it really mixed.

We go through so much of the stuff (hubby's bulking) it really doesn't have a chance to come unstirred if we keep it upside down.

I buy teddys natural chunky PB or 1.89 per jar...how can you go wrong?

I buy Laura Scudder's Brand Natty PB. It is so good, but it's so damn expensive and they don't offer anything larger than 16oz, but I just saw my local Costco now has natty pb too. It's not a brand name but I'm gonna give it a shot!
