Doesn't tuna have mercury in it? Isn't too much mercury bad for the body?

albacore tuna has the mercury but regular ol light chunk tuna has very very small amount you can eat it all week if your worried about the mercury poisioning don't get albacore tuna stick w/ the light chunk.
I love my tuna in a good long bread roll toasted w/ melted cheese, roasted peppers and onions chopped very small

I normally don't eat tuna just becuase I can be smelling like fish at school. But when I do eat tuna, I usually eat about 3 cans in one sitting, eat it right out of the can. I have no problem with tuna

Tuna + mayo = tasty. I could eat 4-5 cans a day if I wanted, but I usually eat two.

Used to eat 1 a day, now I hate the stuff. I'd much rather eat a chicken breast. Still keep a few cans around just in case I need a quick protein meal though(if I don't feel like a shake).

How do you know if your tuna has mercury in it? I eat the cheap 5- cent cans from wal-mart :alcoholic:

Who made this damn poll? Up to 7 a day??? Where's the option for every other day or every 2nd day? www.tunacalculator.com (http://www.tunacalculator.com) will let you know how many is a healthy amount to have.

Every other day for me.

I can easily eat 7-8 cans a day

Im not worried about mercury buildup really, ill die quicker from inhaling all of the carbon monoxide in the air and breathing in other peoples cigarette smoke

Heres a good read i came acros sthe other day

I didn't vote on the poll because I eat 5/week so almost 1/day but I don't force it. It tastes like water to me now because I've been eating it for so long.

I ate so much tuna at one point that I can't eat it now. It makes me gag.

two a day, every day, on two slices of preservative and sugar free whole grain bread, with some sundried tomatoes, oregano, and a small amount of mayo mixed into the tuna itself.

tuna=addictive and good for gains

Every few days I'll throw some scramled eggs and a can of tuna on a tortilla to remind me who I am, lol.

It used to be 2+ cans/day, but now I'm worried about the mercury content, so I have switched to chicken. Plus the chicken tastes much better

I average 2 cans a week. If you mix it with mayo, lemon juice, spices, etc. it's not so bad.

Btw, I pay $0.50/can (on sale) for an ordinary water based 120gr net wt. - how much are you (anybody) paying for your tuna?

Guido

This is an old poll, but I didn't vote on it before.

I don't eat tuna at all. Don't like it. Never have. Never will.

The tuna here sucks and all varieties either have much more fat or about the same ratio of protein to fat. I buy my protein powder on the black market. I'm so great cuz I live in KOREA. :(

Those who ate 7 tins a day, that's gross! How much protein is that, about 250 grams?? Just from tuna!

Can't you have too much protein and it is bad for calcium absorbtion or something?

Edit: I do eat it about twice a week though. It's nice with salad cream on wholemeal bread.

mix about 2 packs (~6oz) with low fat cottage cheese, some salsa, and a few cups of spinach or romaine.. lunch.. most days..

I keep a bunch of it at work, and around the house.. so I always have some handy.

I voted for 0. Once I ate tuna with mayo and relish, I just gag and spit it out. The taste just don't appeal to me.

1 can (solid albacore) tuna, 1 can chili, ~70g protein. Sometimes I add another 1/4lb ground beef for ~100g protein.

Can't even taste the tuna in that chili. I do admit it is a bit of an aquired taste. It was one of my college days meals, so I crave it now.

Whey protein powder with milk and fruit do me more good than just tuna alone... However I do like tuna but I wouldn't eat it every day cause I would get sick of it real fast. That's the advantage of whey protein shakes because you can always change the flavor by changing up the fruit you add to it....

Tuna with some cottage cheese over it and some whole wheat crackers on the side....yummy

that's subjective. What if someone (like me) doesn't need all the carbs in the middle of the day that milk and fruit bring to the table?

2 cans per day when I'm too lazy to cook chicken.

...going to go eat some tuna now.... blegh!

that aint no joke.. anyone ever thought about actually weighing the tuna after you open the can? the can does not consist the amount of servings that is labled... smaller cans (I believe) show 2.5servings per can when in reality it's JUST under 2 servings per can... So.. instead of having 33g protein per can, you're looking at approx 22-25g protein per can.. an annoying tidbit if you're consuming 3-5 cans per day as the difference can be around 35-55g protein off..

more than 6 or 7 cans of tuna a week gives you more mercury than you can handle and makes you dumber.

could you link the study behind this please? I'd like to see how excess of 6-7cans of tuna a week reduces your intelligence.

I better stay away from tuna, because I'm already dumb enough as it is.

Why would it make you dumber if you only go over a certain amount though?
