I'm off to go watch the raw bench meet in Worcester. All the top dogs are gonna be there, Mendy, Siders, Kennelly, Dizenzo etc.....

I'll admit I'm going half out a morbid curiosity. You know one of these guys is gonna wheeled out on a stretcher, all 350lbs of him screaming for his mommy.

I'll try to get some good pics. Later.

Sounds fun, it'll be interesting to see what they can do raw.

Mendolson(sp?) benched 715lbs and it was one of the cleanest lifts I've ever seen. He has a reputation for opening too heavy so when they announced 660 as his opener I was skeptical. He demolished it! The 715 was just as easy. His third attempt was 730 which he got about 1/2 way before he stalled. He may have been able to grind it out but he played it safe and called for help.

I was really impressed with the lifters, they all played it safe and lifted smart while still pushing the limits as much as they could.

For the heavies, Siders came in second with 650 and Josh Bryant got third with 620. It looked like Brian Siders got his last lift of 665 but they redlighted it for some reason. Siders has some freaky speed. When he benches he sinks the bar into chest, pauses for a century or two and then the weight just flys up like it can't get away from him fast enough.

Ed Coan was the head judge, which was cool and certainly gave the meet a feeling of legitimacy that most unsanctioned meets don't have. I think the cash prizes also helped with that too. My favorite lifter was this guy in a wheelchair who benched 350. He had to strap himself to the bench so he wouldn't fall off. never the less all his lifts got three whites, very impressive.

Most of my videos and pics were fuzzy, but oh well, the lighting sucked and I was in the balcony. Atleast I got clear shots of me with Ed Coan and Brian Siders.

Nice! I was wondering how Mendy would do. It's been a while since he's been able to hit good benches in competition, although he's been doing shirted stuff.

This was the meet that Rychlak was called out for and it caused a huge stink, correct?

Borris, you are correct. Rychlak and huge stink just seem to go together.

Beastly lifts, I hope to naturally max out atleast at 500... let alone 715.

lol. One of the guys on another board said he saw him polish off a large pizza and big bucket of KFC before he hit the 900.

I've never seen him eat, so that could be BS, of course, but it is funny. Having seen the picture of him and Mendelson standing side by side shirtless (Mendelson looks jacked, Rychlak not so much) I would say he's no stranger to the pizza and KFC.

Wheeew! What a relief! I thought you were going to say he feasted on the first born children of IPF champions or something. Those IPA'ers can be a little loony.

They're not after the IPF lifters' kids, they go after the children of the IPA judges.
