hey guys, jus new to all this, i wanna get into things serious, at the moment im:

age - 22
height - 6 ft
weight-79 kilograms which is around 176 pounds

ive never worked out in my life and have mostly just swam, i play waterpolo for ireland also, im looking to go to over 200 pounds by working out in the near future but to stay in good aerobic shape, ive just started taking around 100 grams of protein everyday and hitting the gym about 4 times a week (2 days on and 2 days off,once for shoulders and chest, once for arms and back and another for legs) is it possible to get mass even though i swim and play waterpolo 3-4 times a week which involves alot of aerobic work??

any advice on diet, working out, supplement would be great, need to tranform from jake the rake to something like arnold yano

thanx alot 'getfit' ill have a juke at that, im looking to sort my diet out over the next couple of weeks, get my act together....no more take aways or beer :P

Best advice I can give, that I wish someone would have given me earlier, is Bench, Squat, Deadlift, and EAT, eat ALOT! Then once you get the hang of that you can work on perfecting this. My problem was that I tried to get too in depth too early...

Nice base man. If i were you, i'd get at least my bodyweight in protein. Good luck

Good base man, just eat. Try to eat whole food no processed crap unless you have too and treat yourself every once in awhile. Oh and patience... lots of it.

I think you will do just fine, just make sure you EAT. (does it sound like an echo in here?)

6 week update, i notice a little more muscularity around the parts i been working out, what do you guys think yourself?

i didnt think my legs deserved an awl fotograph, i jus been doin them once a week, so not much improvement :)

yeh im now takin in around 180-200g a day, i was advised about that already, all through protein and the milk i drink with it

means i notice muscularity like some mass around my back, arms, shoulders, little chest and not legs because im not working them 2 hard,...im just saying what ive noticed myself :S

nah i do some legs once a week with my waterpolo team (legs in the weightsroom followed by leg excercises in the pool), i dont wanna get my legs 2 big, i play waterpolo, might make them 2 heavy/sluggish im guessing

thats a myth, frankly id go for uber huge legs...i have bad knees or else id train my legs harder than my upper body even...

in arnolds bodybuilding book it shows some of the guys there who can do gymnastics stuff even with their bulk so it wont slow you down one bit, itll add endurance and faster swimming if nothing else

Work them leggies hard - it'll actually help your upper body grow.


And you've got a nice base started already. Just gotta keep eating and lifting heavy.

just a little update....was off weights for a year as i went back and played waterpolo and frankly couldnt fit weights in with the 10 sessions a week, anyway since then have hung up the speedos and got back into the gym the last 5-6 weeks, currently sitting at 191 pounds, just trying to tighten up a little and gain slowly!
