My friend and I are curious about what is currently the world's highest bench press done by an individual in an official event?

Thanks.

I think its over 900 now.
I stopped keeping track after 800 was broken.

1005 - Gene Rychlak

he did that in legal competition? I saw the video, but I thought it was exhibition.

Thanks for the info, johnnytang24. :strong:

I went on Scott Mendelson's website and was very inspired by his benching videos. Now I really wanna improve my stagnant bench of 405 lbs. (raw).

Nose tackle how big is your chest? Gotta be big at the ht and wt.

Hey bill,

My chest measurement is approximately 53". But I think most of my weight is due to the big belly I have. :D

Highest competition lifts of all time:

(shirt)- Gene Rychlak- 1005 lbs@SHW

(RAW)- Scot Mendelson- 715 lbs@SHW

I personally feel that if Scot got the shirt thing figured out he would hit the highest bench ever, but right now Gene just is more consistent in the shirt and he's hit the numbers in the meets.

Ehh..theres a big difference between training raw and training shirted. Just because someone has a full raw 715 doesn't mean that he can just pop a shirt on and press out 1005+. It'll take time to add another 300 pounds to the top end of his bench and I don't think he'll ever want/be able to do it.

Ehhh, there is video of Mendy benching 1005 in the gym.

Ehhh, I train with his sister Shawna and have met him and watched him bench in person.

Ehhh, he is the largest, freaky-sized person I have ever met and was scared to shake his hand.

;)

Trust me, I'm pretty involved in the game and although I don't consider myself an elite lifter, I am well-above average in the drug-free game and I train with one of the strongest all-around teams perhaps in the country. Scot is a strong-ass bastard!

Thanks Chris. I trust ya. :)

My friend was very curious as I was too.

DARN! I wish I could bench as much as Scott. I guess I just have to keep at it. :D

Thanks again everyone.

Larry Allen's videos that I have seen wouldn't pass in any powerlifting meet. I've seen him bounce it pretty hard in the bottom(not that he isn't ridiculously strong though).

Scot M is a monster of a man! You just can't tell at all by watching clips or seeing videos, but when you are in the same room w. him he is FREAKING HUGE! Ever see "The Hulk" movie? Kind of like that...

Rychlak has benched over 900 lbs more than everyone else combined. Steve Wong just hit 832lbs in a single-ply which I think is the best ever for that (May PL USA). RAW is Mendelson.
