View Full Version : Don't you want carbs in your PWO Protein shake?
I am looking for an alternative to musclemilk because it has far too much fat and calories for me. I find these protein powders that have almost no carbs in them. I thought you want some carbs in your PWO shake...why would they have none?

because you add them in yourself

Because a) you can add your own and b) they're not post-workout formulas. Protein powder can be used any time of day and it's a lot easier to add carbs to your shake than take them out when you don't want them there.

musclemilk is a good meal replacement.... but as far as PWO, that wasnt its intended purpose. For PWO you can just get whey and add dextrose.
most weightgain powders are good PWO

Weight gainers are often too high in fat (fat slows absorption) to be ideal for post workout, but they are certainly better than no food post workout.
