What are the pros and cons?
Which have worked better for you?
What would you guys recommend?

Neither..
Split working each body part once per week spread out between 3-4 days works best for me.

Nothing for some/most people. I just don't like it because by the time I finish with my back and chest I am not worth a damn the rest of the workout

I have to admit I am really curious. Have never tried upper / lower split and working everything 2x a week - might have to give it a try.

The best routine I have found is the one I am using, and well that is why I am using it. Of course everyone loves their routine otherwise they would not do it:)
I do:
Pull, Emphasis on Back
Legs, Emphasis on Quads
Push, Emphasis on Bench Press
HIIT
Pull, Emphasis on Lats
Legs, Emphasis on Glutes
Push, Emphasis on Incline
Cardio
Start over.
I do cardio on lifting days also sometimes. Volume is low, 10-12 sets usually.
I would post the routine(s) you had in mind and ask for feedback. It helps alot, I know every routine I have made on my own without help has sucked horribly lol. I had tons of help making my routine from a more experienced lifter, and that is why it works I think.
right now i am doing a 3 day split and usually my muscles get hit 2x a week. I had tried upper/lower split, but didn't like having squat and deadlift back to back.

I tried it yesterday(upper only) and by the time I finished my chest and back and got to my shoulders I was using half the weight I usually use and it just felt awkward. So basically everything was fried and it was pointless for me to be in the gym any longer. Different strokes for different folks :)

i do squats and dls in the same WORKOUT since i do a full body routine, but since its just 2 sets and i can even alternate the order within the workout if i want its not a problem, also i noticed no difference in performance except in the very first workout--i still pulled the same weight but i thought i was gonna die for sure! lol

well i use deadlift as a lowerback exercise but was done with upper body day. On lowerbody day i have STDL. Hope i answered your question.
