Well, since so many others have these and since I dont want it to seem like Im bragging every time I hit a PR, I've decided to post up a journal. If I had a digital camera (might have access to one very soon) I would post some before pictures of me to see what you think. I would have to say that my whole life I've been bigger then average from way back in 1st grade, but now just recently I've decided I wana try and get freakishly huge and Im hopeing genetics wont hold me back. My goal weight is to be around 230lbs of solid muscle before I being bulking back up. Right now I weight 298lbs and I would say that my bodyfat % has gone up to about 23-25% (it was 20% a year ago). Measurements are: Chest (right across nipples) 58", Neck 19 1/2", Calfs 19", Biceps 18 1/3", Forearms 14", Waist 46", Quads 33 1/2". I think that can paint a pretty good picture until I can get real ones of me. I want my numbers to be 63-64", 22", 22", 24", 17" 40-42", 37-38", respectively. I know that these are all pretty big numbers and I hope I can do it in about 5-7 years. With those goal measurments I hope that I can acheive a solid weight of around 270-275lbs.

Well that breaks the ice, so I guess Ill start with my workout today

Benchpess

135x10
225x6
Missed 315@1 (Dont know why either, it went up so nice two weeks ago)

I think my chest wasnt warmed up enough and I should have done one more heavier set inbetween. Im going to give it another week and try for it again and if that was my problem then Im going to try getting the 335 at the end of this month.

DB rows

35x10
35x10
35x10

Tricep extentions

120x15
150x10
180x8
225x2

I did some lockouts with a BB at 315lbs, these were 6" lockouts.

315x5
315x5

That was all for today, there is more but I dont know what the lifts are called.. or even what the machine I did them on is called. Maybe someone can help me figure that out.

225lbs tricep extensions? if thats w/ a barbell thats retarted strong!

Thanks, and Ive read over WBB#1 and it seems like a pretty solid routine but im a little skeptic of having tuesdays and thursdays off. However I think that once I take my break (Ill be takeing a one week break in June because it will mark the 9th month I've been back in the iron game so far) and come back Ill give the WBB1 a shot for 2 months and see how things are looking. Now WBB2 is somthing that from my understanding is targeted more twoards gaining muscle mass (to my understanding hypertrophy). And I dont think Im ready for WBB3 just yet, Ive got some technique issues to work out before I start getting really serious with my lifting.

Im off to do my leg session now, Ill post up again when I get back.

225lbs tricep extensions? if thats w/ a barbell thats retarted strong!

See, I think there might already be a misunderstanding on my part. The actual lift is something like this. There is a pully system in our gym, and I put a rope attachment onto it and put it all the way at the top of the machine. I grap the ropes at the ends and extend my arms down. I guess there like tricep pull downs??

Today just didnt feel like a good day, I stretched for five min today because my legs just didnt feel up to par. I ate about 45 min before I started so I took my lifts slow and somewhat lighter and decided to work on form and some grip work on the rack pulls. My lifting partner skipped out on me again, but its his loss. Tommrows another day, another bench day :evillaugh

did i read that right that you want to have 37-38in quads?...damn...i hope u can afford to get the leg pants tailored when u achieve it

WBBIRL
06-17-2005, 01:58 PM
Heh, I know how it is already. I pay 15 bucks for each pair of my underwear. My jeans have to be size 48 so that the legs fit. Shorts are nothing less then 3XL. One solid outfit for me runs close to 100$

One solid outfit for me runs close to 100$

im average sized and an outfit for me is over a 100 dollars. and thats pants and a shirt only.

WBBIRL
06-17-2005, 03:31 PM
Well jeans in a size 48 cant be had at places like walmart.... so my pants come from either a big and tall store or something like Boscov's. Jeans usually run me 30-40$ a pair depending on the place. Underwear is a different story, I need the cotton underwear the the legs that go to the thigh, because my quads are so big that they rub together if they dont go down the leg a little ways. They go anywhere from 10-15$ (they came out to 15$ last time because they were from the big and tall store, walmart only goes up to 2x). The cheapest shirts that arnt completely plain are 10$ each. Shirts that I like that look half decent in the 3-4X department go from 35-40$. So it adds up really fast.

Ok, today was upper body.. and somewhat of a disappointment.

Benchpress

135x10
225x8
275x2
295x1

Tricep Pushdowns

120x10
150x8
180x6
210x4
225x1

Hammer Curls

30's x 10 (done each arm seperately)
35's x 8
40's x 6
45's x 4

Skull Crushers

75x10
80x8
90x10 ( felt strong after 6 so said what the hell)

Bicep Curls

25 x10
30 x8
35 x6

Went with more sets then usual because its friday and I felt better endurance in my muscles today. Diet was slightly off and Im really doubting that 335 at the end of the month. Ill just go for 315 again and give it another good month of work. Maybe work twoards higher reps this month.

for the record those prices on clothes arent bad. for me, jeans $60 shirt $40-30.... and there is 100 dollars. not to mentions the other stuff.

But a good bench day.... 295, at the end is pretty strong

Nice chest day man, dont let the bench get to you we all have our off days.

WBBIRL
06-19-2005, 09:20 PM
Heh, thanks man... I feel much better after this weekend. Im going to work for reps this week, going for 225x12 which would be a PR for those reps at that weight.

KevinStarke
06-19-2005, 09:22 PM
Go for it man i love high reps its always helped me in the past. Whats your form like, just curious?

WBBIRL
06-20-2005, 12:49 AM
Well form is good, its just my grip... it seemed in that 315 bench video you had that your grip was about two thumbs lenght from the smooth areas on the middle of the bar. Im thinking I may be trying to put too much a load on my triceps and not enough on my chest... or am I correct in my grip. I go a thumblenght away from the smooth areas in the middle of the bar. Back stays on the bench, no arch... elbows are paralle to my chest and my ROM is about 10 inches or so.

KevinStarke
06-20-2005, 06:59 AM
I like a wider grip personally, not only for the shorter range of motion but to really power it with my chest. This all may just be because im a littler guy, i've seen bigger guys with closer grip do fine but i guess its just personal preference. Play around with some grips, see what you like best.

WBBIRL
06-20-2005, 08:51 PM
Well, heres how it went today

Benchpress

135x12
185x10
205x8

Tricep pushdowns
120x15
150x12
180x10

Tri's felt pretty good after this

Lat Pulldowns

80x12
100x10
120x8

Lats aren't very strong... they need alot of work

Reverse curls (I dont know the weight of the EZ bar so ill just list the weight of the plates I used)

20x10
40x8
45x6

Forearms went nuts after those

Incline benchpress

115x12
135x10
155x8

Felt strong and could have done more weight and higher reps but want to adjust to the extra reps before I go heavy.

Forearm curls

30's x 45
35's x 30
40's x 20

Dont know why I reped out so much, ill adjust way down next time to keep me at a max of 20 reps.

Today felt good but not a real test yet, increased reps but obvisouly on some lifts like flat bench my numbers went way down... opened up my flat grip bench another 2 inches and it feels like more chest now and less triceps. Pinkys were about an inch or so from the rings. Im going to try to add reps at the end of every week.

KevinStarke

Hey WBBIRL you havnt updated the sig in a while, hows the weight loss going brotha?

WBBIRL
06-21-2005, 12:31 PM
pretty slowly, im going to have to start actually writing down the cals i get because Im thinking this way of basically estimating based upon the lable and how much of it I eat is wrong. Im going to have to eat exact servings and start keeping a log so I know exactly the cals... im about 297 right now.

Unholy
06-21-2005, 12:34 PM
Is there a number you are aiming for?

WBBIRL
06-21-2005, 12:41 PM
Yea, my lean body mass was around 245lbs when I had it checked in 10th grade.... so id like to get to there. I want to try and lose as much fat and as little muscle as possible, and I figured over the last two years I gained atleast another 5lbs of LBM. The reason Im aiming at 245 and not 250 is because I know not all of it will be fat and some will be muscle... i figure the 5lb buffer should make up the difference. Their is no real target weight, I will stop whenever I feel fat loss is sufficent. So far Ive droped about 20lbs and my strenght has gone up, so thats a good sign.

Unholy
06-21-2005, 12:44 PM
Nice, I meant cals though :D

WBBIRL
06-21-2005, 12:46 PM
Heh, Well I lost the first 20 on a 2k cals average... every 7 to 10 days id go for 2.5 to 2.7k cals to let the metabolism know im alive. It came off at first around 2 or so lbs per week, which is a decent pace.

Unholy
06-21-2005, 12:58 PM
man you need to eat more, You maintance is probably 3-4k

WBBIRL
06-21-2005, 02:45 PM
dont know man, sounds a bit extreme... I mean I know I was gaining weight eating about 50% more then I am right now.

Unholy
06-21-2005, 03:08 PM
I donno, my metabolism is pretty damn slow, im 75lbs lighter than you and My maintance is in the 2600-2900 range

WBBIRL
06-22-2005, 01:11 PM
Lol didnt have a chance to post this yesterday so heres how the leg session went

Started out with some leg curls

80x10
100x8
120x6

Leg extentions

45x10
90x8
150x6

Shrugs
135x10
225x8
260x6

Leg Press ( I only list the plate weight, I know the unit it sits on has weight but I have no idea how much so I only list the plates )

270x10
360x8
450x6

Felt good and strong the whole way through, all reps were smooth and solid. This was a lighter then I normally go but havent gone heavy in this for a while now.

On a whole the workout went pretty smooth, since im trying to work for reps I seem to be adapting nicely, just dont wana go heavy yet until im sure of it. I figure if my workouts go this smooth for another week or two Ill start to add poundage.

Todays upper body, after a hellacious forearms workout on monday I wana punish my bi's and back today.

KevinStarke
06-22-2005, 01:35 PM
great workout man, kill those bi's

Workouts are looking good bro. Keep up the hard work.

WBBIRL
06-22-2005, 07:05 PM
Had a better session today, still pretty light but the reps are comming to me.

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x6 (I know that I wanted to wait a week before going up, but even this was easy)

Seated Incline DB press

60x10
70x8
80x6

All was smooth, nice reps

Tricep Pushdowns

150x10
180x8
210x6

Incline Benchpress

135x10
160x8
205x3 (wanted to go heavier... never did that much incline and didnt know what to expect... next time ill go to like 185 so I can get the six out)

BB Curls

65x10
85x8
95x6

Im really upset about my lack of strenght on those... I mean for how big I am thats freakin sad.

The benchpress wider grip thing is really comming around, I think it alone will increase my max.... todays 225x6 was the easiest 225 has ever went up. I said I wanted to kill my Bi's today and even though I didnt think that I did I got mild DOMS for about half an hour after my session ended. There gone now but it was kinda new. All in all a good session, and looking forward to going heavier on monday.

KevinStarke

DAMN dude, your damn near 300lbs at 5'10" and your LBM is 245? That's huge. Do you have any pictures?

WBBIRL
06-23-2005, 06:11 PM
Nah, no digitial camera yet... but will be able to get some pics soon. Heh, I didnt think it that big.

Anyway todays session..

Leg curls

70x10
100x8
130x6

Rack Pulls

135x10
225x8
315x6

Leg Press

270x10
360x8
450x6

Calf raises

90x10 (the machine has some weight, the unit that holds the weight that is... just not sure how much, so I only list the plate)
120x8
130x6

Nice session today, lower back got a good workout... extended my ROM alittle bit and wow did my grip and lowerback feel it. Didn't weigh myself, I will every friday so ill post up my weight then.

@Wanabelean

In 10th grade when I was 320 I had a body fat percentage of 20%, and had my lean body mass calculated by the doctor to be about 240lbs. Since then Ive lost the 20 lbs of fat and figured that in those two years Ive gain 5lbs of muscle... worst comes to worse I still have a 240 lb LBM. Ill get the pics up for ya, I think I look good for 300lbs.

KevinStarke
06-24-2005, 08:52 AM
nice lookin workout man, good rack pulls

WBBIRL
06-24-2005, 12:13 PM
Heh, thanks. Todays my last day before I decide to add weight or reps to this scheme. Since the weight is a little easy for what Ive been doing, I think ill jump 5lbs on every lift except for the warmup sets. Im adjusting nicely to the higher reps and the wider grip and Im sorry I sold my chest short before, I can now focus on letting the chest get the weight up and let the tri's worry about lockout. Today's going to be an upper body day and I feel good. Very Very slight DOMS in my lowerback but I expected as much, yesterday was the first day in a couple of days I rack pulled, that and the longer ROM on them. Weight seems to be comming down, but no visual appearance yet save alittle more definition in my upper arms and shoulders.

WBBIRL
06-24-2005, 03:59 PM
Feeling good, didnt eat much yet today (have been extremely busy) and managed to choke down a bowl of cereal when I woke up. Going to eat a good meal then go lifting in about an hour or so. Feeling strong and cant wait to hit the bench.

Kill that bench man! nail that 315 if you plan on going big!

WBBIRL
06-24-2005, 07:29 PM
Nah not going big today, that starts on monday.

Im just about adjusted to the higher rep and wider grip, so its time to add plates. Today was good, but didnt power through everything like normally, guess its a combination of a good week of working out, alittle bit less sleep then normal and how ****ty my diet has been.

Bicep curls

25'sx10
30'sx8
35's6

These felt good and went smooth, still pretty pissed at the low numbers though.

Benchpress

135x10
185x8
225x6

For the most part smooth and solid, the last two or so reps of 225 were slower but still ok. I think im getting better with wide grip and after two days off I should be fine.

Dumbell Bench- Just added these to kill my chest before the weekend off
45's x10
70's x10
80's x8
90's x6

Good smooth reps, the last one or two with the 90's were a little slow but thats heavy for me espically right after bench. Ill work on them

Lat pulldowns

80 x 10
100 x 8
120 x 6

lighter then normal, but didnt know how things would go so went a tad light... Im ready for more.

BB rows... I think

For this exercise I took a bench seat thing (its like a bench without the metal rails for the weight) and put a BB under it with some weights, put it up on a plate and some 2x4's to make it high enough for my ROM and just pulled the weight up to my chest... like a reverse benchpress.

Bar x 10 (didnt know how hard it would be
135x 8 pretty easy
155x 6 a workout but not killer

I did bike 2 miles in 8:50 today, because they got our schwinn stationary bike fixed so I cranked up the resistance to max and put out 2 miles for some activity (lately Ive been really lazy). I look to shave 20 seconds at least off that by next friday. Weights down to about 297 which is slow, only a lb but I guess a pound in fat is alot because I doubt Ive lost any muscle mass. Plan on doing a better job trackin calories and start being more active.

KevinStarke
06-24-2005, 08:30 PM

WBBIRL

You and me both brotha, just gota let it come to me. Im trying to learn disicpline now so that when/if I ever go big time with my numbers I wont do something stupid. Im feeling alot better, and should be into full swing by the end of the month. Chest is comming along great and my stabalizers are improving, just have to chase down that 375lb bench at my next birthday.

KevinStarke
06-25-2005, 06:51 AM
thats awesome man! definitelly take it easy and ease in to the big weights especially if your still getting use to wide grip, i know it was a bitch on my wrists when i first started but i got used to it. You'll get 375 man no doubt, but why not just go for 385? ;) mmm... 3 plates andddd a 35... looks so good

You say you want to be more active. Why not run some hills a couple times per week? It does so many great things for you I won't even list it all.

WBBIRL
06-25-2005, 09:34 PM
I know hills are good, I did them during football. Supposedly running downhill is good for stretching out your ligaments and running up hill is just endurance work. We have a small hill about 50-60 yards in length I may start running. But want to drop a few pounds before I start that.

SW
06-25-2005, 09:44 PM
Yeah, I understand. You're probably worried about shin splints. No doubt you had lots of experience with them in football lol. I had to quit track because I couldn't walk.

WBBIRL
06-26-2005, 12:28 PM
I got them pretty bad during our summer condiditoning... we did "snakes" where you run across the yard lines then up the side line to the next one and back across to the other side. We would start at the goal line and go till the end of the 50 yard line and then go back... sprinting the last line before going back the other way. One day we did 3 of them and my legs were killing me, mind you that may not seem that much running but I did it at 315lbs.

Wannabelean
06-27-2005, 08:56 AM

But I have to get out to my grandmas to get their digital camera because my moms is broken and for some reason she hasn't sent it out to be fixed yet. No doubt they will be up some time after the 4th of july (im going out there for a little while).

WBBIRL
06-27-2005, 10:00 PM
Todays session was dynamite... increased weight a little and things went very nice. Had and still have some DOMS in my lower back, not sure what from but good thing is their mild. Weighed in at 297 so all the snackin down I did over the weekend didnt do as much damage as I had thought.

Seated DB press

45's x10
55's x10
75's x8

Benchpress

135x10
225x8
250x6

Tri push downs

120x10
150x10
180x8
210x6

BB curl

65x10
75x8
95x6

In all this was a good session, shorter then most sessions and I didnt go quite all out yet. The wider grip is really really comming home for me now, that 250x6 felt lighter then the 225x8... it was smooth solid benching and in a week or so I think Ill crush that 335. Next bench session I wana end out with 275x5. Also did the 2 mile bike ride again today and timed in at about 8:30... progress. Im really glad I switched to the wider grip, my chest is finally getting its chance to shine.

KevinStarke
06-28-2005, 07:43 AM

Todays session was rushed, because I had to help my dad rip out our living room ceiling in our new house. I only spent 20 min at the gym, so heres how it went.

Backs been bothering me, so I did some light to moderate rack pulls just to try and work the soreness outa my back.

225x10
315x8
365x6

Then I did some light squats below parallel

185x10
225x8
315x6

Well, been away for about 10 days so Ive probably missed alot. No pics as of yet, a digital camera has been proving really hard to get ahold of. Took a week off after a bench session last friday and ill have off until this next monday, only thing I can remember from it was that I benched 250x10. I figure Ive put on atleast 3lbs because Ive been going about 500 cals over every single day, but did some cardio and salvaged a few of my rest week days. Feeling alot better, but still pissed about no pics.

@Cocoa... Im not buying one just yet, unless I find a job real soon. I was just looking around for someone elses I could use. My grandparents have one but they live 45 min away from me, if all else fails Ill just drive out there to visit for a weekend, and take the pictures then.

@Wannabelean

I dont know man, right now im trying to cut out fat while at least maintaining strength so im not pushing to far twoards lower rep heigher weight. Ill try that 335 but itll probably be about 2 weeks or so, didnt plan on takeing the week off but figured I needed it after being back in the iron game for nearly 9 months now after being off for over 2 years. And I got the weekend before the week off and the weekend after it which gave me 9 days of rest, which I think was good. And had some problems so I was offline since the tuesday before last... Ill jus be glad to be back.

WBBIRL- you look so much like one of my friends from high school, same build and everything, except he never lifted...what pissed me off one day was that he came to the weight room and started joking around...without warming up he but 185 on the bar and continued to rep it for 17x's...he never before stepped into a weight room and he could do that, just plain waste of talent..

Wannabelean

WBBIRL
07-11-2005, 10:49 AM
That is pretty odd, sounds like me when I started but to a lesser extent. In 8th grade the "superman" kids would all be benching for football and they started on me one day. Sayin stuff like why dont you lift, you afraid you wont even bench the bar and crap. Truth was I wasn't allowed in the weight room at that point because I wasnt a member of the football team. I watched the kid who was rippin on me bench 135 for 3 sloppy reps and then I did 150 for 5 good ones.

Anywho, its gym today and I can't wait. Ill probably go around 6 or 7. I think Ill keep it to a simple (and lighter) 10,8,6 rep scheme and do a max of 5 different lifts.

Man are serving sizes small, and were my conceptions of the ammount of cereal or anything in a cup wrong. I probably was putting 2.5 cups easily into my bowls before, today I decided to measure out the 1 cup of cereal and the half cup of milk and was I shocked. I probably was eating way over 3k when I gained all that weight a few months back.

First day back in 10 days... I think I went too far with the break. Maybe next time Ill start on the weekend and come back on that next Wednesday for a Bench Session :evillaugh

Today was a better day then most, diet was very good and I wasnt overly hungry at any one point. I think that I will need this week to get back into things but it should be cool by then.

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x6

These felt oddly heavy, but my bench usually does take a hit from any prolonged absence from working those muscles... it also comes back to me pretty soon.

Seated Shoulder DB Press
40x10
50x8
60x6

These too felt heavier then they should have, before I could power through all three weights at 10 reps and be ready for more... just have to wait it out

Tricep Pulldowns
90x10
105x8
120x6

Again heavier then normal but I know why

In all a rather disappointing and short workout. My friend wanted to go to the mall so I squeezed that session into about 20-25 min. Diet went real weel... meal 1 was a cup of cereal and half a cup of milk, meal 2 was a turkey breast sandwich on wheat bread with half a can of cambells beef vegtable soup and meal 3 was 3 grilled deer steaks with a 200 cal serving of Kraft spring noodles in cheese. I figure I was under 2k for the day easily but I also had 4 protein shakes today which are 100 cals each. I think tommorow will be a good leg day, as they tend to have a better strength memory then other parts of me.

Unholy
07-12-2005, 05:45 AM
how do you make your protein shakes so that they are 100 cals each?

@Nick, thanks bro.

At least today is legs, its sort of good because I wana get the soreness worked out of them again. I plan on squatting as heavy as my body will allow today (me thinks Ill just end up repping 275 a few times).

WBBIRL
07-13-2005, 11:57 AM
Ok yesterdays workout, didnt get to post it until now.

The session didnt go as good as I would have liked, particularly because I couldnt go very heavy at all on squats but good news is there were no DOMS/soreness when I woke up thismorning. The weight will start comming back to me now.

Leg curls
60x10
80x8
100x6

Squats
95x10
155x8
185x6

Still really upset about these, but they were all solid good form reps. Ill give it a week and move up to 135,185,225 respectively.

Calf raises
2 plates for 3 sets of 10

Leg press
3ppsx10
4ppsx8
5ppsx6

All reps were a fuller ROM then normal, found out how to do them deeper and there was a slight pause at the bottom of the rep .

Leg extention
1 plate x10
2 plates x8
3 plates x6

These werent that hard, but I could tell that either my legs were fatigued or I wasnt used to them yet.

In all not the worst workout, but not squatting for so long has to come with its punishment... just so thirsty for that huge squat. Diet was good yesterday also... ate around 2300-2500. When I weighed myself after my break but before yesterday I musta had alot of water/food in me because I weighed in at 295.5 and weighed out just a hare over 296... like 296.3

Todays a bench day, I hope its a good one.

WBBIRL
07-13-2005, 03:27 PM
whats circa mean??? and yes two years ago I could nearly squat 500lbs... 495. Take two years off and see what happens to your squat number. And no, it was with a barbell and good ole plate weights.

KevinStarke
07-13-2005, 03:30 PM
I just started squatting again after having a knee problem and not squatting for seriously for over a year and i can still rep out 225 on parallels man. Does seem a little strange that it would drop that much with a squat like 495. Not saying i dont think you ever did it just saying i understand the oddity of it.

WBBIRL
07-13-2005, 05:47 PM
I see your questionability, but that was my very first squatting session in 2 years. I think even tommorow will show improvement and ill be pumpin out 225x10 before the months out. I feel confident that my squat will shoot up in a very short period of time.

Todays workout

Benchpress
135x10
205x8
230x5 (was goana go for 6 but for some reason it got really hard on the 5th rep.. so i just racked it)

Tricep pushdowns
120x10
150x8
180x6

DB curls (did each arm seperately)
30x10
32.5x8
35x6

still pissed about those numbers but curls have always been my worst thing

Lat pulldowns
90x10
110x8
130x6

Disapointing really... hopeing to see numbers go up alot

DB benchpress
50sx10
75sx8
90sx6

Even after a flat bench these were all nice and smooth reps... aside from my left arm comming up a little slow on the third rep with the 90's. Could really feel them work my chest.

Today wasnt good but wasnt bad either. Im thinking the 10x8x6 rep shceme isnt working for me and im open to suggestions. Right now im kicking around the idea of staying with 10x8x6 for another week or so and then going by 5 sets of 5, of course kicking up the warmup set in weight also. For example instead of warming up with 135x10 on BP I would warm up with something like 155-165. Diet was alright and today I weighed in at 296 and out just at 296.5 (drank about half a gallon of water down there) I think Ill be at 295 by the weekend. Im also not sure about why it seems my bench is harder, I know the 10 days off did it to me because stopping always wreaked havoc on my numbers but I think my diet is starting to catch up to me.

KevinStarke
07-13-2005, 05:49 PM

Im not doubting your lifts either WBB but I got up to repping 275 to parrallel after only lifting for 9-10 weeks. Also if the rest of your body is muscular your legs should loose that much strenght, especially if your playing football.

WBBIRL

Im hopeing that its the calorie deficit along with the 10 days off... Ill know in a week or so. Whenever I come back from a slight break it takes me a week or two to get into the swing again. And that 375 dont stand a chance kev, worst case scenario is that itll take me to winter to do it.

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x10 (was only gonna go for six but they were so damn easy)
250x5 (dont know what happened here, just ran outa steam... damn poor muscular endurance)

EZ bar curls (#'s include the 15lb EZ bar)
55x10
65x8

95x4 (these felt good... think I coulda done more)

Lat Pulldowns
100x10
120x8
140x6

Skullcrushers
50x10
60x10
70x10

All in all good workout, just pissed about the weight right now.

Squats
135x10
135x10

Leg curls

What do you guys suggest to get my muscular endurance up... I mean you know I have horrible muscular enduarance when me and kev could both bench 315 yet he added an extra 5 reps on my 10 rep PR at 225 (which oddly enough I did with 250, and couldnt get the 11th one at 225, about two workouts before I got the 250 up x10. Im thinking speedbench and close grips???

I don't see how you could get 225X10 and not more and then still get 250X10. That makes no sense to me. However, my muscular endurance was alot better when I was doing cardio a few days per week.

Wannabelean

I really would like to know whats going on with my body, Ive gained 3lbs somehow after tons of exercise this last weekend and a consistant diet Ive managed to get a 12,000K+ Deficit (unless it was water and food from throughout the day). My strength fluctuates more then my weight recently... friday I blasted through 225x10 and today 225x5 was so hard. Im so sick and disgusted I just want to quit.

Squats
135x10

Dont know... maybe its still to early to hope for big results

Leg curls
80x10
100x8
120x6

Calf Raises

90x10
135x8
180x6

Felt like crap the whole session, everything seemed heavy and it was a bad day. Diet was good except for the taco bell I ate... 2 of those crunchwrap supremes. Still under 2.5k so no harm done.

Dude, I am 99% positive that it is all in your diet. We have no clue what you are eating and guessing just doesn't do it. I have said this about 5 times in here now, but I will even change my answer to 100% positive because I went through the same struggles as I went on to lose a whole hell of alot of weight and went through A LOT of trial and error.

I would go from benching 290-295 for 1 rep to STRUGGLING with 245 and **** like just for a couple reps and this kind of **** made me quit diets all the time. It was ALL in my diet and you know how I know this? Because my diet has been very good for a few months now and my strength is not going anywhere. I also got test done at the doctors and they said I was just a fat ass and it's my own fault and basically made me realize that it was my diet.

Your diet is a lot more important than you are giving it credit for and I would put money on that being all of your problem. Get that straightened out and everything will go a hell of alot smoother for you.

Good luck big guy

He is right, I struggled with sub 200lbs on bench for a while, one day i just ate a buttload went to the gym the next day and put up 205lbs followed by 225. Sure the numbers seem like cake but my 1rm went up like 15% over night.

WBBIRL
07-20-2005, 12:28 PM
Well I really dont think ive dropped cals that seriously... maybe 700 a day at best. But the thing is ive been eating this way for around 2-3 months now and at the beggining of the "diet" my strength kept on climbing. Whats worse is im not loseing weight anymore, or atleast im weighing myself at the worst possible times and the fluctation would have me belive im not. I wouldnt think that 2k cals would do this to me, but heres to hoping.

On another note, I feel good today... hope I didnt just jinx myself but todays a bench day. Well see how things go.

Well, yesterdays session was better, and I will leave it at that.

Incline Benchpress
135x10
155x8
175x5 (was going for 6 but the stupid machine isnt bolted down and when I powered it up for that last rep the machine almost fell over forewards......)

DB hammercurls
30x10
35x8
40x6

Easy peasy...

Benchpress
155x10
205x8
250x4 ( just couldnt get 5)
225x5

Lat pulldowns
100x8
120x6
140x4

Was the best workout Ive had since I repped out the 250x10... decided to take my warmup on BP to 155 since it was almost pointless at 135. Still alittle pissed but progress is progress. Weight was 299 so I figure its more like 298 or so. I think im ditching the 10x8x6 and going with 5 sets of 5. The way I see it the volume will be slightly increased and the weight will be higher. 25 reps instead of 24 and I will be doing higher numbers.... its a win win situation I think.

Todays session was good, mixed things up a little.

Calf raises
a 45lb plate and a 25lb plate for 3 sets of 10

Squats
135x10
185x8
225x5
235x5
245x5
135x10

Took a little seat, looks much like the thing you lay on when you bench except it doesnt have the rails for the bar, and put it inside the power rack. A variation of box squat I would think, and I was close to parallel when I sat down. I dont know why these seem so much easier but their was a ton more intensity with the last set of 135 which I did without the bench seat and just squatted normal. It seems like the motion is whats hard, like my quads dont wana be that flexable because with the bench to sit on I can squat alot weight alot more times.

Leg press
2ppsx10
3ppsx10
4ppsx10

Went light on these... the gyms roof leaked bad after a recent storm and the carpet is soaked so the bottoms of my shoes were soaked and they kept wanting to slip up the leg press sled. Needless to say i didnt wana get hurt.

Today was much better, the squats were nice and I felt good.

Welcome back buddy. Bench pressing or lifting period when you are burnt to a crisp is not fun at all!

Where do you set the pins for your lockouts? I have never done them before

WBBIRL
07-26-2005, 09:31 AM
Well I think were not talking about the same lifts, and yes lifting with a sunburnt back will suck which is why im deading today and squatting thursday... to give my back some chance to heal up. What I call rack lockouts are when you go into the powerrack and put the barbell across the saftey bars. Put weights on it and partial deadlift it, I set it so that I get around 55-60% of the ROM in a conventional DL. And thanks, its good to be back.

Im so anxious to get back into the iron game, I think im offically jacked about competeting.

Unholy
07-26-2005, 09:33 AM

Wannabelean
07-26-2005, 09:35 AM
Yeah man, I was talking about what you just described. I want to start doing them also, but I didn't know where I needed to set the starting point at.

WBBIRL
07-26-2005, 09:40 AM
@paul... Im going to base that on my ability to over come atleast one of the records in the age/weight group I compete in. Winning all 4 would be increidable but even If I can win only one of the events I would go. There is also the fact that other people will be competeting right along side me, so not only do I have to overpower the current records but the new contenders also. I hope to lift in the 18-19 year old 275lb drug tested division. Im hopeing that my recently had struggles dont ruin my potential strength.

@Wannabelean

Do them where you feel comfortable, the thing for me is Im weak in the middle 2/3rds of the ROM. Im not weak off the ground or the lockout... its the middle part in which I tend to struggle in my 1RM scenarios. I would suggest no more then 75% of the ROM and no less then 40% of the ROM.

SW

I really expected to see like a 400lb bench in the 275lb 18-19 year old divison and my water almost came out my nose when I seen the 215 lb record for the 275 18-19 year old divison. Yesterdays session was alright, considering it was my first real deadlifting since 10th grade and that now Im doing it with a strait bar.

Rack lockouts (saftey bars were set about 8-10" off the ground)
225x10
315x8
365x4 (grip issues)

Deadlift
135x10 easy as hell... light as a feather
225x10 again really easy but the grip was on its way out during the 10th rep
315x4 seemed like I ran into a brick wall here, but not a bad effort I think

Seated Calf raises (weights dont include machines weight)
90x10
115x10
125x10

That was it for me yesterday, I was feeling those deads in my lowerback. It felt really great to be deadlifting, and its killing me that I took 2 years off from it. I hope I get back to pulling my all time PR before the years out. The rack lockouts are nice, but just dont compare to the full ROM. It also appeared to me that I was doing half deadlifts and half SLDL because my legs weren't as bent as they were for my 1st rep of every set... and by the 10th rep it looked like it was all back action and no legs. Im thinking that will need correcting very soon. Weight was 301lbs but its okay... I drank over a gallon of water before I went down and ate a small meal right before. Me and my buddy went up to our highschool track and did some jogging. I jogged a mile and walked a mile and it fealt great... I just hope I being to see results before too long. I wana get down to 275 and compete now.

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x6

Just left it at that, felt sore and didnt wana push **** because I knew I had to jog 2 miles afterwards and didnt wana feel like crap.

120x8
140x6 (PR)

BB Shrugs

Things got changed up yesterday, went out with my friend looking at used cars.... saw some real nice Eclipses in the 7-10k range. Since we were out we decided to do our cardio (running at the track) first and then go down and lift. We also stopped at a chinese buffet for dinner but it sucked real bad and we each ate only one plate.

The cardio broke down like this... our track is 400 meters or 1/4 of a mile long. So we would jog the strait stretches at a decent pace and then walk to the next strait stretch.... did that 6 times and then the next 2 we did all out sprints down the straits and walked to the next strait stretch.

Gym session

Squats
135x10
135x10
185x10

More of a stretch/cooldown thing then anything... my body was feelin the cardio

Leg curls

40x10
60x10
80x10

Easy peasy... same as the squats

Calf raises
Just did 1 plate for 3 sets of 15... to kinda stretch out and cooldown my calfs

The cardio feels good, and at worst im getting back into shape before this next deer season comes in. I dont see any difference in the scale yet but im hopeing thats because of water and or food sitting in my stomace. Im eating right, exercising and lifting... the weight should start comming off. On a side note I was screwing around and there was and EZ bar sitting there with a 45lb plate on each side, I decided to pick it up and managed to rep it out 6 times pretty easy.... a PR for me.

Pec-Deck
60x10
100x10
120x8
140x6

Seated Shoulder Press /w DB's
35'sx10
50'sx8
65'sx6

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x5 (felt like **** and didnt get the last rep... o well)

DB forearm curls
30x10
40x8
50x6

All of these felt super easy, Im goana move up 10lbs on each set and see how well that goes

Lat Pulldowns
80x10
100x8
120x6

I really really suck at these, the #'s Im doing on some lifts are make me really sad.

Todays workout wasnt bad, wasnt good either though. I weighed in at 296lbs so I was down even after the cheat weekend I had. While during my cardio with my friend I discussed him letting me used his video camera and he said it would be cool so sometime this week Ill have videos of me benching and deadlifting... no squat videos yet because I suck at them.

EDIT: Forgot this, My mom wants me to get a physical and talk to the doctor about long term effects of building extra lean body mass..... She says that in 20 years when I no longer powerlift she thinks my body will go for the worst. In all shes aginst my getting bigger at all, competeing in this APA-WPA state meet, and its getting to the point where shes upset every time I go to lift. 40x10
50x10
60x10
70x10

Think I've got these worked out next time... will try 60x10, 70x8, 80x6

Barbell Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x5

This sucks big time, my grip kept on sliding futher out on the bar because my hands were sweaty and there was nothing I could do about it. My bench strength has really gone south on me... im really really really hopeing its account of my eating less cals but that raises the question of why bench is really my only lift takeing a hit.

Tricep pushdowns
120x10
150x8
180x6

Not bad but just a hare harder then it was a few weeks ago, nothing compared to my bench loss though.

Ended the session there, figured enough is enough. If the bench thing keeps up to much longer im just going to go about it as if 225x5 is my best and work back up again. Lower my last set to like 205x6... something Ill atleast get.

DB Hammer curls
30x10
35x8
40x6

Not hard, I think Im ready to go to 35x10,40x8,45x6 which is still pretty weak

DB wrist curls
35x10
45x8
55x6

Not hard really, might be able to step each set up by 5lbs next time.

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x6

Better workout here then lately, reps were easier then they have been the last week or two.

Lat Pulldowns
100x10
120x8
140x6

Last set was difficult but I managed.

Reverse EZ bar preacher curls
35x10
55x8
65x6

These were hard as hell.... the last set was killer.

Workout wasnt bad at all, been doing the cardio thing at least 3 times per week but would like to step that up to 5x a week if im going to get back into shape for hunting season. Id like to be at 270 ish lbs for the first day of buck season (rifle) which here is like the 2nd or 3rd monday in november. Weighed out at 297.5 yesterday after my lifting session but figured I could be as low as 295 because I ate 3 meals and drank wate the whole day, even during the workout. My mom went food shoping yesterday and man o man did she put me in a hard place. She bought those healthy choice meals for me... not bad except that all have a ton of sodium and carbohydrates. They contain on average 300 cals but like 50g of carbs per meal. She bought fruit but it was only one little tray and I ate it already. We had this chicken alfreado meal last night... gosh was it a caloric nightmare. Forgot to check the box before I ate, needless to say it was about 350 cals per serving and there were a total of 10 servings. I dont know exactly how much of it I ate but I know it was more then 1/4 but less then 1/2. I had about a 1K cal dinner... not what I wanted : ( .... The diet is going okay but I think I may be retaining water because of all the carbs I seem to be getting.

The weight thing is odd... in the mirror I do look better then I did a few months ago, but youd never know that from the scale. Most of my progress has been in my arms and chest/traps... so its hard to really see the difference unless Im not wearing a shirt (not happening any time soon). Looking forward to tonight, hope to post up some big numbers.

Thanks guys, yesterdays session was pretty nice... I did sweat up a storm.

Leg curls
80x10
100x8
120x3 (knees were bothering me, so i said screw this)

Leg press

1ppsx10
3ppsx10
4ppsx8
5ppsx6

Easy easy.... just getting back into things here. Next attempt will be upped a plate per side.

BB Deadlift
225x10
275x8 (added wrist wraps)
315x6

The last 2 reps of the last set really had my back going, but it felt good... real good. I cant wait till im repping 5pps here. I figure that my max right now would be in the area of 350ish, maybe 375.

Seated Calf Raises
1plates x10
2plates x10
3plates x6

Workout felt real good, but my lower back felt like #$@#$# for about three hours. I can already tell deadlifting is going to be one of my strong points.

08-10-2005, 06:52 AM
Great workout dude. Are you using chalk for your deadlifts? I pulled 315X5 and 405 without chalk and then when I had chalk I nailed 440 pretty easily. So it could be a little higher than you think :)

WBBIRL
08-10-2005, 02:48 PM
No chalk, just wrist wraps.

Im hoping I can still pull atleast 4PPS.

Workout was good today

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x7
250x2

T-Bar seated rows
90x10
140x8
180x6

DB hammer curls
30x10
40x6

Skull Crushers

50x10
60x8
70x6

Skulls were really easy. The hammer curls gave me troube, and After that set I felt like **** so I said screw it and on the the next lift. Benching was okay and the T bar rows were ok for my first time. Weighed out at 298.

Hi, are you training for mass or strength?

WBBIRL
08-11-2005, 06:36 AM
Mainly strength but adding mass would is also wanted... it would make my apppearance better, I am 80lbs atleast overweight. I just do the 10x8x6 routine because I wanted to change **** up a few months ago, ill be moving into the 5x5x5x5x5 pretty soon.

Canadian Crippler
08-11-2005, 06:42 AM
Yeah, then you should probably do your main lifts first then the assistance ones after. Like deadlifts before leg press and leg curls, and Bench before pec deck and shoulder press.

WBBIRL
08-11-2005, 03:41 PM
Yea, I plan on that.... If its my squat day then squats are first, same with bench and deadlift. Right now im so pissed off about the weightloss, I put forth more effort then alot of people and am not loseing anything... that feeling is amplified exponential when you factor in that im staying at a roof of 2.5k cals. My only goal right now is to get down to about 275lbs for my next birthday... my gym #'s dont even matter to me anymore, its clear that they cant if im going to lose this weight.

I've set a new goal in my sig, theres 15 days between now and then. I plan on doing some type of fast paced cardio on most every day unitl then... with the only exception being the weekends, deeping on how my body feels I may take those days as off days when needed.

Wannabelean

Are you tracking your calories yet?

WBBIRL
08-12-2005, 11:46 AM
Not totally, theres still some things I eat that you just cant track. Not everything I eat has a lable so Im not really sure on how I would find that info. But alot of what I eat does, so im pretty confidient that in the general area.

Workout From yesterday

Squats

135x10
185x8
225x6

These were alot easier then before, Ill give this weight a little more time before I move up.

Seated Leg Extention

1 plate x10
2 plates x8
3 plates x6

Seated Calf Raises

1plate x10
2plates x8
3plates x6

That was all for yesterday, but I felt it was good work.

Canadian Crippler
08-12-2005, 11:49 AM
Good stuff, are these ATF or Parallel?

Yeah, at 300lbs it'll be tough for you. I suggest dropping whatever you are eating that is unmeasurable and only eating foods that you can measure. Likely drop the cals a bit too if you aint losing weight. It sucks to sacrifice these things, but cutting is supposed to suck :p

What are your protein/carb/fats usually?

Wannabelean
08-12-2005, 11:56 AM
WBB- List your diet for the past few days man. Maybe we can help you out some to diagnose what is going on here.

I agree w/ CC on eating things that are trackable(although I am sure you can find out the nutrition facts on what you are eating.)

WBBIRL
08-12-2005, 04:51 PM
Their Parallel, and the #'s should start to take off in the next 4-6 months as once I get back into the groove I have alot of "lost" strength to recover... I hope to get back up around 500lb squats before too long.

Yea the lifts are comming back along, which im glad they are. I felt like I was on a downward sprial after that week off. When I can get 250x10 again Ill get my friend to record it with his digitial video camera. But I dont think Ill even be trying that for alteast another 2-3 months. And once I hit that goal of 250x10 Ill then try to max out at 325. Im going to have to start doing the fit day deal, and Im going to the doctors soon because **** just isnt makeing sense as far as weight loss goes.

@Fix

At your age and weight, 225 would be a damn respectable weight. That would be a nice goal for you to set.

Eh, Ive managed to lose a lb again but I think its water weight fluctuation. Weighed out at 298.. heres how the workout went.

Benchpress
135x10
185x8
225x7

These were all pause reps, and all felt damn good... had to stop myself with the 225 because it was only supposed to be a 10x8x6 kinda deal.

Incline Benchpress
135x10
175x7
185x5

I need more work on this, although Im not sure if I should allow my poor performance on these to get me down (like curls I guess)

Seated Shoulder Press
35x10
45x8
60x6

EZ peasy

Thats all I did today because I felt like utter ****, and I felt I had enough after the shoulder presses. Just about ready to make the transistion to 5 sets of 5 from my current routine of a 10x8x6 rep/set style. Wondering how do adjust my numbers??? Any ideas..

I was thinking that I should start with my 60% my 1RM and then go up 5% each additional set. That would seem like a good workload. I may have to doctor up the percentages a wee bit.

On a side note, I've lost yet another lifting partner.... this one to a girl. We had been to this girls house because his other friend was there. And then the next two or three days my lifting partner didnt show up for the gym and didnt go jogging anymore. It bums me out, this is the third one in less then a year. I really need to find someone as motivated as I am to work with, and it sucks that he got the chick.. she was hot and I liked her.

135x10
135x10
185x6

BB Deadlifts (all sets were done with straps today)

225x10
275x8

Hack Squats
1ppsx10
2ppsx8
2pps+10lb'ersx6

Leg Press
2ppsx10
3ppsx8

No eliptical today, about 400000000 cardio bunnies came in and each used it for like 10 min and then left. Finally just as I was ready to close out my session with the cardio some chick came in and spent like 20 min on it (well maybe more but after sitting around with my thumb up my ass for 20 min I decided it wasn't worth it). Weighed out at 300, so I guess I either had alot of water in me the last time i weighed in or I lost 5lbs between then and yesterday. Deadlift day today, I can't Fin wait.

Didnt get to lift yesterday, and Im rightly pissed off about it. Seems the dumb bimbo that runs my gym neglected to remember that I had told her I would pay her at the end of the month when I had money and not at the first of the month like normal. So they took my key code out of the door and I couldnt get in. I was so pissed because I felt so jacked about deadlifting and now I cant. Im getting a job soon, like hopefully Ill start on monday. I've already filled out the app and im going to run it down when im done screwing around online and after I shower. Its nice because the place is like a half mile from my house.

I still am really pissed that I wont get to lift now for probably atleast a week. And were going to be moving this next week too so **** will just be hectic, but were not moving far... like 2 miles. I can't wait to get back into the iron game and ive only been out one day... I feel like I want to break something.
