View Full Version : Multi Protein Mixtures (In supplements)

I know that lots of supplements, especially weight gainers and protein powders, say they have a protein mix. I understand what this means, combining different types of protein since they are absorbed over different periods of time. However, why don't manufacturers release the percentages of this mixture? Wouldn't this greatly effect results?
Say you drink 1 serving of a protein weight gain shake that has 50 grams of protein in it. The nutri. facts claim it is a mixture of different proteins. But if 95% of those 50 grams are whey, you'll absorb 47 of those 50 grams in the manner that you absorb whey. Legally, they could do that right? 95% whey, 2.5% casein, and 2.5% of the other (I forget, sorry, I think it's the egg one - albumen maybe??).
Is there some sort of industry standard that they all adhere to? Or are they not all created equally? I've looked on several sites and products I buy to see what this actual split is but can't track it down.
thx

Your example is precisely why they don't release the percentages. It's highly likely that they will pile in the cheapest protein and skimp on the better, more expensive stuff.

How do you counteract this?
Nevermind, I know the answer. Eat more natural food.
Damn them.... damn them all.
Do they release these stats for Nitrean or Opticen? We have direct contact with the people who are responsible for it. I wonder if they'd tell us.

Nitrean and Opticen's protein mix is 2 parts whey, 1 part casein, and 1 part egg.
Hope that helps.

why not just say 50% whey 25% casein 25% egg :D
because both are exactly the same, assuming a "part" is 1 unit of the mixture regardless of the item

He's right CM. If a company openly gave out this information, I would consider them a much more credible company. I realized just how many companies DON'T release this info. I have to say I was pleasantly suprised you did, and happy that your protein mixture is well rounded (imo).

We have nothing to hide when it comes to the makeup of our products.
I may have Daniel put it on the site.

until it's on your site and on your products some of your customers won't believe it
Mase:
* your creatine still does not say creapure *
I personally wouldn't buy it until it states that on the site/bottle

It says it quite clearly on the bottle. In fact, it has the little Creapure (TM) logo right there on the label.
