View Full Version : The Nausea That Is Tom & Katie

Tom Cruise is a classic example of a hot man trying to appear hotter by completely nauseating the public by his public displays of marriage proposals and dating games.
I find it most annoying when he talks about how he's a "relationship sort of guy" and theirs nothing better then being commited and all that dribble that melts the hearts of middle aged housewives everywhere. There's nothing wrong with feeling this way but he always "happens" to mention this only when he's on television or being interviewed for some magazine.
Can anyone say: "Troy Mcleur"?

This is the first time I remember him being open about a relationship he's been in. He's a notoriously private celebrity, plus him and katie both have movies coming out so that helps. All around I think he's a great actor-who else has made a movie like top gun when they were 21 years old?

Penelope Cruz, any episode of Oprah which he was a guest. The only time he is quiet about a relationship is when he decides to end them, at which even though Nicole Kidman had collasped and suffered a mis-carriage and was quoted saying the break-up was a complete surprise to her as she learned about it through other sources-Tom claims that they are the greatest of friends.....spoken like a true Troy Mcleur...
You may remember him from such shows as the Simpsons.

Rolling Stone tried to get him to speak out against Bush in an article, and he said "I'm an actor..I don't have any business discussing politics"
Or something to that tune...I thought that was cool, not that I care who he votes for.

I only wish Green Day would follow suit and shut the **** up 'singing' about politics. It's beyond me why they release song after song, all dripping in war and politics, and think their opinion matters more than you're average Joe on the street.

Yeah, to an extent. But these chaps - oh look, here's a band.. oh and a wagon.. let's all hop on! They are yet to get off.
UK Radio1 (main station in UK) are pluggin' Punk at the moment and are really trying to put Green Day forward. Like you say, they are 'punk' to their 'teeny bopper' fans. Let's be honest, they're never going to be The Sex Pistols!

Let's be honest, they're never going to be The Sex Pistols!
They are also going to be 500 million x's richer then the Sex Pistols will ever be.
So let us see the equation in full,
Annoying anyone over 15 x Dying hair + wearing safety pins in clothes x singing about politics and "raging against the machine" + millions of 15 year olds around the World with more disposible income then their parents =
A very rich band called Green Day....

And that sums up what's wrong with the world today.
So, we will continue to have Green Day plastered all over the air waves and music channels. Oh joy.
As for their new 'song' or should i say ballad! How 'punk' of them.
They're nothing but a wanna b rebel rock-pop group.

Tom would also like to lay blame on whatever is most pleasing to the movie going public of North America. He would also like to refrain from discussing any topic which does not please more then 90% of the public opinion.
Did he also mention that he loves being in relationships and he feels he is a better person because of it? Troy..I mean Tom is a relationship sort of guy.

Tom Cruise gives me the impression that he's much smarter than most people give him credit for, and is possibly even in the genius category with his sometimes eccentric and energiectic actions. Most of the great geniuses (and I don't quite put him in that category, but if you'll notice, a lot of really smart people don't do well with simple things) throughout history haven't been able to handle normal activities, like relationships, and end up attached to things like scientology because it gives them some kid of stability that they can't provide for themselves, due to their overactive mind.
At the very least, he's incredibly energetic...

You know if you would have said something like "Tom Cruise is annoying, he's such a bad actor" or "Tom Cruise's movies suck", I don't think anyone would call you on it. HOWEVER, when you start trashing a celebrity because of what you THINK you know about his personal life from what you got reading some third rate celebrity magazine while waiting in the grocery line, or from wasting your life watching EXTRA, Oprah, or whatever other celebrity shows are out there, then someone is going to call you on it. What do you know about his and Nicole Kidman's relationship? And why would you even care?
You don't KNOW Tom Cruise, and you don't know anything about his personal relationships or whether they're genuine or not genuine. What else do you expect him to talk to Oprah about? Oprah asks the questions that millions of bored, sad people who lack their own lives, want to ask: personal questions about his romantic relationships.

Look, I know you're getting ripped apart a little here, but you're taking your opinions of 'Tom' too seriously here. You don't know him! He's an good actor and that's pretty much all we know for sure about the guy. Anytime you see him on TV he's responding to questions asked by the press. Have you ever sat down with him just y'know, for a chat?
This thread wasn't ever about Tom Cruise's personality-that was an assumption by many of you...it was about his "public persona" HOW HE ACTS/WHAT HE SAYS IN PUBLIC.
My original post talked of him constantly talking about his veiws on who he is and his relationships.
It is your own assumption that I am talking about his "personality" ect.

What would you expect him to say on Oprah that would satisfy your obsession with him?

My boss turns Oprah on at work, I don't even have a TV at home.

So what if he did say that? You know it is possible for some celebrities to care about the environment. They are just NORMAL PEOPLE who got a break in acting or whatever it is they do. Some of these people really believe in that kinda stuff, and because they have the ability to speak to millions of people they take advantage of it. I'm not saying all of them who preach about clean air are sincere, but that doesn't mean everyone one of them is bull****ting.

Tom didn't say that...you asked me what I wished he said to service my "obsession" with him.

Nah, Far and Away is one of my favorite movies...
I don't even have a TV and all I hear are these relationship qoutes by Tom over and over again. Media saturation....I know I took it out on TC....One of those things where I didn't think before I talked.

LLBH...maybe Tom is smart enough to realize that people LOVE a nice guy in hollywood, and they won't go see an *******'s movie after so many jery things are said or done in public (Russell Crowe being the exception). But, I'd say that in matters of love, his true personality is going to shine through...that's something that is hard to mask.

She told him she thought he was the "Top Gun", and wanted to have his baby, but he told her that would be "Mission: Impossible," because of Katie. So, he ran "Far and Away" from her, only to end up living these "Days of Thunder" and doing "Risky Business" while avoiding her constant advances. If she and Katie ever cross paths, it's gonna be a "War of the Worlds."

It is TOTALLY amazing (to me) that a thread that deals w/ Tom Cruise (or any other "celebrity") would cover 4 pages.
I would think that a community of people who are intelligent enough to consider how physical activity and diet can affect the human body would be beyond being enamoured of a simple actor and his paramour. I would think there are more interesting relatationships at the gym.
Why aren't we talking about the gym owner's wife hooking up with the guy who supplies the CarbForce drinks rather than some actor and his co-star?

Well, you ain't gonna get his plane (I'm assuming you're talking about Top Gun).
Cruise didn't "make" any movies. he only played a part that was conceived by the writers and directors of those particular films.
I do agree that he was entertaining in some of those films (I liked a bunch of 'em), however, he's just a guy. Why do we (really, you people) care who he is dating?
Why doesn't then news come down to my local bar and do a story about Eric and Laurie who met at their job three months ago and will be married this September? (True story)
The "hero worship" of entertainers in this country totally baffles me.

Actually I was talking about one of the planes he actually owns like that S-2B. Although yeah, I'd like to have an F-14.

In Paris' defense, she probably has no talent so she has to make up for it by doing stupid things to keep people interested.
Probably? I'll confirm it, she has no talent. Why exactly is she all over TV anyway? WTF does she do?

He does make movies now, and has for a while. He's a producer, writer and director as well as an actor.

*lol* at this thread.
ironically enouhg i did know Tom vaguely back in the day, but that's cause he and his family lived near me.
in any case, i'm jsut curious to see if he'll dump her when she turns 34, like he did the others.
i wonder if that's a scientology rule, or just a personal quirk.
