dried pasta and rice usually inflates to 1.3-1.5 times the size, although it totally depends on how you cook it [not long enough, too long] and what kind of rice/pasta it is.

Some pasta doesn't increase much at all whereas some will double in size.

i think it might be a cup.

either that or a half-cup. depends on how many ozs are in a serving size. (serving size is 1/2 cup)

2 oz ==57grams uncooked = 42g carbs

1 cup or 150g cooked = 40g of carbs

Since water doesn't have any carbs:

2oz dry ~= 5.5oz cooked.

You can look up macaroni uncooked and cooked at

Not really CD, it may in fact increase 1.3- 1.5 times in SIZE but oz's are a unit of mass.

Because the pasta also sucks up water, the increase in mass is more like 2.25 times.

The correct answer is that in the particular case of the macaroni that was tested by the USDA, 2oz dry = 5.5oz cooked.

I suspect that the answer would be comparable for most dry pasta's and that fresh pasta which already contains more water would increase by less than 2.25 times.

Your mileage may vary depending on whether you like it chewy or slimy.
