View Full Version : Anyone have a tuna salad recipe?
I searched, and didn't really see anything offhand.
I'm content with using tuna and lite mayo by themselves.. but if anyone has anything fancy to contribute, please do. Thanks.

A friend of mine does hers with lemon, olive oil, and chickpeas.
I like tuna with avocado and balsamic vinegar. Toss in chopped up sweet peppers and walnuts ... mmmm fat!
What are the serving sizes/ingrediant proportions you use?

I put about 3 tablespoons of giardinieria, with maybe 1 tablespoon of low fat mayo and a lot of pepper for each can. I love the taste/spice of the giardinieria and it provides enough crunchiness so that I don't need celery or anything else. Giardinieria is everywhere in ariund these parts (Chicago), but you should be able to find it in your grocery store near the jarred peppers and other italian type stuff.

Here are a few I've got.
1. Two cans tuna in water.
2 or 3 jalapeno peppers
3/4 cup bean sprouts
1 cup chopped or diced mushrooms
1 tomato chopped
a few leaves of Romaine lettuce
3 tablespoons low fat mayo
low fat shredded cheese (optional)
Mix tuna, mayo,peppers, bean sprouts,onions,
and mushrooms. Put on whole wheat bread.
Then top with low fat cheese, tomato slices,
lettuce and cucumber. That's it.
2.A tuna salad lettuce wrap. If you're avoiding heavy
breads for some reason.
1 1/2 tsp low fat Ceaser salad dressing
1 to 1 1/2 cans tuna
2 small carrots peeled and diced
2 large lettuce leaves
4 olives chopped
1 medium tomato chopped
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp course ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Mix the tuna, chopped carrot,olives and tomato.
Chop up one of the lettuce leaves and add it
Then add the salad dressing, and spices and mix
it up really good.
Take the last large lettuce leaf you have and spoon
the tuna salad into the center. Fold it up and eat.
This one can be kinda messy.
