I have been a member for a little while and have decided its time to start a journal. plus this will help motivate me. I am 16 years old, 5'8" and a pathetic 135 pounds. My goal is to bulk up and gain strength.
My workout routine has sucked for quite some time now and I need to fix that. I have been overtraining. My routine was day1-upper body, day2-lower body, repeat. I had been getting good results with that but now I have plataeud. I am going to switch to this routine. day 1- chest/biceps, day 2- back/triceps, day 3- legs, day 4-rest, and repeat. I am still getting off of my old routine and will start the new routine on sunday.
I workout at home and I don't have a whole lot of equipment. I have a weight bench with incline, decline, and flat positions with leg curl and preacher curl attachments. I have 150 lbs of weights and a 30lb barbell. I also have adjustable dumbells. I really want to get a 300lb olympic weight set. I also want to get a squat rack because it sucks not being able to squat

I borrowed 2 5lb weights from my cousin so now I have 190 lbs. just for s*its I put on 185 and as expected I got it up. I'm going to have to try 190 pretty soon. I can't wait until i can do that! man weightlifting is awesome!!

I know how you feel man, no squat rack either. I just get my dad to help me lift it onto my shoulders, but I wouldnt recommend it really, as it feels a bit dangerous.

yeah i tried to squat once by power cleaning it onto my shoulders but that is hard!! :cry:

You can construct your own rack. All you need is wood, bolts, screws, washers, a drill and a screwdriver. Search on google for instructions.

I think it might be cheaper to just buy it rather than build.

today was leg/shoulder day everything felt good except for the deadlifts. my lower back is still sore. I must have bad form.
heres how it went
dumbell front raises

today was supposed to be my off day, but I felt extremely good and I jumped right to another chest/bis day. Just for ****s I maxed out on bench. I didn't think I would do too well since I did an extremely intense upper body workout 3 days ago. I warmed up, slapped 190 on there and GOT IT!! It felt so good.

yeah and seeing you do 225 15 times at 150 body weight gives me so much motivation. how long have you been lifting kevin??

Powerlifting for 1.5 years but i lifted casually for a few years before that. Started right before high school. Your bench is great for your weight man just keep at it and you'll gain some weight and some sick strength.

man I havn't been posting in my journal lately, i've had a lot going on lately. anyway, today was another chest/biceps day(the best). I felt really good before the workout and i decided to max out on bench again. I was feeling really confident and I nailed 195!! I love my new routine and I feel it has helped me gain strength fast!! I am getting close to 200 and I can't wait til I pass that mark! anyways heres how the workout went. it felt extremely solid

today was another chest/bis day and was a very good workout. I nailed 200 pounds on bench(finally) and almost got 205. I'm getting a little discourgaed though,that I havn't gained an ounce of bodyweight since my max bench was 170.

I know it has been like 3 months since I posted here. I just want to let you guys know that my old maxes were very wrong. Instead of my first post being able to bench 180X2, I could really only bench 165X2.(the bar was 15 pounds instead of 30pounds) I did buy an olympic weight bench in august and right now I can bench 210, can squat 280, and can DL 300. I also weigh 155. I started a new 5X5 routine and It has been doing me good
