so theres the sumo style deadlift, how about the squats? would it be ok to have a feet stance slightly wider than shoulder width, feet point slightly outward, and hands closer on the bar when doing squats?
if anyone has links or info, lmk

that is how i have always done my squats
Absolutely. Less stress on the knees, better leverages. Move out gradually though. If you've been doing close stance squats, you don't want to push your feet all the way out and try it right away.
