My thinking is no - not for workout. Dex really is ideal - the fructose in fruit, with the soluble fiber slowing the rate of gastric emptying and hindering fast absorption, will not stimulate the insulin response you desire during this period.

men's health recommends fruit + honey. I'm not sure if the added nutritional value (not to mention taste!) is worth the less effective insulin spike. I would guess it is for most people, but thats just a guess. If you do use fruit, pick ones with higher gi's (bananas are great).
