Music motivates me in the gym more than anything. Let's hear some good some good songs to workout too.

Mine are currently:

Foo Fighters - Best of You (I love it this song)

Any kind of Korn will get me going...

System of a Down will work too..

What else?

I was at the gym the other day and they were playing sappy song after sappy song. I was looking around to see if anyone else noticed this and no one seemed to care. Why the hell wants to work out to a bunch of chic songs that are depressing or slow? I almost went and complained lol.

I completely agree, although I used to do a lot of my baseball workouts at this one place that had the same song on repeat for the whole hour and a half you would be there. Needless to say it got annoying.

How could I forget Rage Against the Machine?

Lonestar's fun to listen to in the car, don't think it would work for me in the gym though. I like metal and rap for workouts, although I do get turned off by misogynistic lyrics so I sometimes have to tune some stuff out when they play it at the gym.

Has GNR even put out an album since you were born?

I'm just hassling you- I love them, but they're not my first choice for lifting. However, they do play them sometimes on gym radio stations, so in that case it's the best you'll get.

Spoonman by Soundgarden just makes me want to break stuff up. I don't know why, but that song gets me going...

Talk radio? Not while I'm lifting, but usually most of the rest of the day. I usually listen to the conservative stuff (Rush, Hannity, Ingram (I LOVE her!), Levin, Drudge, etc), but I do listen to "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition" a lot--they aren't as liberal as CNN or CBS. I sometimes listen to AirAmerica to see what the other side is doing. Usually I do the latter thru iTunes.

Anyone ever use the iTunes radio function? There's a lot of great stuff there. Even a comedy station that's hilarious. (I think I'll switch to that now.)

Maybe I should listen to AirAmerica while I'm lifting. Some of the crap them liberals say really get me going!

Death metal usually gets you mentally pumped, i dont know about any of the soft rock or even hardcore rap, sure it might be nice to listen to but i dont know if that would get you mentally pumped. For you guys out there that love your music and use it to motivate you while your at the gym try a few of these songs and get back to me and tell me what you think..
if you havent seen this movie yet, watch it, then get "the battle" song from the movie gladiator...i dont know how to categorize this, but trust me, this **** works..its kind of classical ish..but its heavy at the same time!
Mortal kombat theme music (the original) and alot of other techno beats are really good too, depending on the beat of techno songs, you can also use the beat as a timer for a repitition, its amazing to keep you moving

Intensity is a huge factor when training and depending on what kind, music really helps!

pump up music genres: punk, ska, and a tiny tiny bit of hardcore influence (i cant stand hardcore music all the time, it just sounds like screaming).

ie the suicide machines, NoFX, some Big D & the Kids Table, recently a few Saves The Day songs.

if interested in seeing/listening to the one song that i listen to when i need to do a huge lift, i give you the suicide machines - war profiteering is killing us all:
http://www.suicide-machines.com/war_profiteering.wmv
they are a ska (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ska)(horns etc.) punk band with some hardcore in there sometimes (which is what the song i posted has). enjoy it!

if you dont feel like having that song d/l, just go straight to their website and listen to another song by them that plays in the background of the site:

I'm trying to put together some WORKOUT music that is nothing but hardcore to keep the intensity going at the gym. Here's a couple examples of stuff I like and I think fits into that category.

Lose Yourself - Eminem
Let The Bodies Hit the Floor - Drowning Pool
Killing In the Name - Rage Against the Machine

Other suggestions in-line with the above type stuff?

Thanks!

For me, probably the most perfect song for lifting is Atreyu - Lip Gloss and Black. The chorus starts out, "Aren't you tired of being weak?"

I also really like Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold, Jesus Built My Hot Rod by Ministry, More Human than Human by White Zombie, Walk by Pantera, I Shot Lucifer by Bionic Jive, the Deftones songs I listed, a number of System of a Down songs, Tall Cans in the Air by Transplants, and other rowdy songs.

All (okay most) of Tupac's All Eyez on Me makes me feel immortal for some reason. Probably because of all the references to surviving the five gunshots.

Please use the search. This gets posted every month.

I'll post a further explanation since some of you were kind enough to follow the guidelines and question the thread closure via PM.

A search on this topic pulls up over 100 threads. There is no reason to make a new thread on this subject every week. You can easily bump and old thread and add on to it. Some of you said, but new music comes out all the time. That is true, but 99% percent of the response are the same bands and songs. Feel free to continue your discussion here.

There hasn't been any good new metal in quite a while now. Nobody freaking sings anymore, it's so pathetic. There's quite a few bands with decent music around but they all either scream or growl like they got shot in the throat. There's a few faster metalish' bands that are still decent like DragonForce or Symphony X, but it's still very rare to find somebody with actual vocal talent.
