I need some input from those of you who have competed before. Right now I am preparing for a qualifying competition in April. I started out about a week ago at 244lbs and I am 6'4. I was told by my trainer not to worry about gaining weight right now until after Christmas, stop doing cardio, but to keep my eating clean. I am up about 4 or 5 lbs now and I am kinda stressing out about my wieght. Body fat is probably somewhere around the 16-18% I would guess. My concern is I do need cardio for work and was wondering if 3X per week HIIT would disrupt my preperation. Also, should I be taking ephadrine and caffine or should I not bother? Any help would be appreciated.

You need a plan. You need a set period where you will start your pre-contest dieting and training. Until then, you'll want to minimize how much fat you store but at the same time not fuss about it.

I have someone doing my diets for me and I was told after christmas is diet time, but I still am concerned about my fat, thats why I was concerned about the running. I kinda would still like to do about 10mins HIIT but want to know if its going to hinder any size gains.

10 mins of HIIT would be pointless, not enough time. If you worried about burning the muscle, try giving a lower intensity cardio a try. Try walking briskly on an incline.

I think you're best choice would be to ask the guy doing your diets.
