Hey. I'm new here and this is my first post.

I'm 22 years old and 135#. I've been lifting for about a year and a half now and I've only been able to put on about 5 lbs of muscle. As you can imagine I am pretty lean and my metabolism is off the charts. I work out very hard, the correct way, I get plenty of sleep and I eat. I've gotten a lot stronger, sometimes I even surprise myself, but I cannot put on any weight. I eat and eat and eat, but still no progress. I have decided it's time to try some weight gainer supplements.

Can anyone tell me if they've had any experiences with weight gainers and if so was it a positive one? Do they really work? Any particular brand that works better then others?

At this point my goal is to put on weight, fat is not a cocern for me AT ALL. I don't mind getting fat, if I can put on muscle. I know that sounds crazy to most, but I'd like to see the numbers on the scale go up. And I can always cut.

Thank you for any help and advice. I look forward to sticking around, posting photos and getting to know my way around this forum.

I like to mix it up with carbs and protein. Ive tried protein shakes for a month or so at a time.

A day of eating would consist of three main meals and a lot of grazing in between. Grazing on mostly P&B sandwiches, grilled cheese, tuna sandwiches, ice cream (for the calories), chicken fingers from any fast food restaurant. I know not very clean, but I also eat a lot of vegatables, I often have pasta for dinner with chicken. I eat as often as I can though I don't keep a caloric record, which I know I should be. I figure with a weight gainer I'll be getting the extra calories I need, if I am not getting enough calories in. I should also mention I have cut back on my cardio significantly. I still do it, for my own mental wellbeing, but I might go for a light job once or twice a week.

I've looked in each forum, but cant seem to find that sticky. I figured it would be in the "Diet" forum. I feel like its right in front of me, but I cant see it. Do you know where it is? Thanks again Getfit.

I find peoples concept of eating alot varies. If you aren't gaining weight, eat more. I wouldn't waste money on a weight gainer shake. Real food is cheap/easy. Track your cals for a few days to get an idea of how many your taking in.

I'll definitely take your advice Unreal. But I must say I do eat a ton. It's hard to imagine I have to eat even more when I'm stuffing my face all day long.

Eat twice as much as you do currently and I promise you you'll gain more than 5lbs in the next 18 months.

Go for it Boxer! Let me know which one you decide to use.

Shooter- I will try to double my diet from now on, that is bound to work.

I notice no one has said anything about weight gainers. Albeit only a handful of replies, but please tell me there is someone out there who used one and had a positive experience.

Don't try to do that all at once! You'll just get yourself sick. Try adding a couple hundred calories every few days. That will work much better.
