For bicep curls I prefer the straight bar for sure.

What do other people think?

I find that the straight bar gives a bonus/nice burn to the forearms after each session. It also allows the biceps to stretch out satisfactorily on the negative.

I think EZ curl more useful for triceps as opposed to biceps.

i prefer the straight bar for biceps.

recently i have been using the olympic bench bar in the rack for bicep curls and I find it very comfortable and feel a lot better from using it as opposed to a thinner barbell.

I prefer straight bar as well. I have bad wrists and the EZ Curl bar isn't very nice to them.

I prefer to do olympic barbell curls as well, but my wrists cannot take it. My elbows seem to be the problem, they aren't flexible enough.

I mean PAIN!!!

So I try to limit the amount of straight bar curls that I do!

I don't think one is really better than the other. The EZ bar slightly shifts the load of the weight onto the brachioradialis. Do whichever one is more comfortable or from what I hear, less painful :D

Use both, sample both worlds.

I agree with Kaliedo....switch it up for variety from time to time, unless you have some sort of pain, obviously.

But then I have a short attention span and need variety to stay motivated.;)

And sometimes it just is a function of whatever I don't have to wait for, esp at the end of my workout when I tend to get to bicep curls around the time that I'm ready to be done....

I have to use an EZ-Curl bar. I have tendonitis in both my forearms. I was using an olympic straight bar and I had to switch. Personally I have experienced gains faster using the EZ-Curl bar as opposed to the straight bar. I have also been using the "arm blaster" with the EZ bar that could be the results of the fast gains. I hope they last (gains).

What is an "arm blaster"

Its a device used to isolate the bicep. its a thin flat metal bar about 2' long and 5" high and theres a strap that goes around your neck and connects the the flat bar, the bar slips under your triceps so on the concentric lift cheating is pretty much elimanated. It really works. I picked mine up at www.monstermuscle.com (http://www.monstermuscle.com) for about $36.00.
