Hey guys and girls,

Im 5 10, 199 with a little bit of a gut and a decent build. Im trying to lose the gut and gain some muscle. I was thinking about doing WBB #1 but im worried that i wont lose the fat that i want. So, should i do some cardio first for a couple of weeks before i hit the weights?

Thanks

As of right now, i dont really have a routine, thats why i was looking at Wbb #1. Ive been running .5 mile on the track, then 20 minutes of cardio using elliptical, bikes, etc. Then id do some arm and shoulder exercises. Ive only been doing this for a couple weeks. My diet isnt the best, but im working on that. Cutting out the chips, candy, etc. Ive already cut out pop.

wbb is very good routine to start of with and have a look at our stickies in the diet /nutrition forum "best threads on diet and nutrition" good luck :)

i would strongly suggest to start with wbb/r first and sort out your diet.

Im assuming that a better diet, along with the weight exercise will burn off my gut?

If you insist on doing any significant cardio on lifting days, make sure to separate them by 5-6 hours at least.

Im not trying to be a cardio machine or anything, i just want to lose my gut, and a couple of pant sizes.

We know.

That's why you need to do the lifting first, OR separate the cardio from the lifting.

You'll burn more fat that way, AND preserve/build more muscle.

Really.

Sounds good, but remember diet is key to weight loss. You can do WBB1 and cardio till you die and never lose a pound if your diet isn't in check.

I haven't done more than a half hour cardio total in the 10 weeks I've been doing WBB1 and according to the gym scale I've lost 10 pounds (most of it in the past 3 weeks, despite my diet not changing the entire time). Watch the diet and lift heavy and watch your lifts go up and weight go down.
