Iv been going to the gym for around a year now, but for about 3 months i have taken it seriously, with routines, correct diet, C.V etc, but i have moved into a student house with 5 mates and there out drinking alcohol almost every night which leaves me in on my own watching T.V, im staring to find it really hard to stay motivated and sticking to my diet because its starting to seem like im wasting my youth stuck in the house. Does anyone else have this problem or have any advice?

iv been out with them once and didnt drink and it was terrible i felt uncomfortable and out of place.


(i wasnt sure where to put this post but its vaughly related to diet and nutrition)

Im trying to cut at the same time, what would be the best alcoholic drink to drink if i went out? im guessing it would be vodka because of its clear colour.

Have a couple shots straight with no mixer or chaser. Those just add calories. Or a few light beers. Moderation is the key.

the new Becks light beer only has like 65 cals per 12 oz bottle.

My friends are the same...we all pretty much live in the same area. I go with them once a week. The other days I find other stuff to do, keep myself busy.

It has negative effects on protein synthesis, I'm not sure of its effect on test. Moderation, having a couple drinks isn't going to kill you.

Having a few beers is not going to hinder your progress enough. If you want to go out and have fun, the psychological benefit of being able to unwind w/ your friends is well worth the extra calories and limited protein synthesis when drinking. Plan it around your workouts if you can. I wouldn't lift then an hour later go drinking, but that's just me. There's no reason you can't go out w/ your friends.

Yeah, a couple a night is fine, or like every other night. Like others said, m-o-d-e-r-a-t-i-o-n

What's wrong with going out and drinking water? Just be the designated driver. Just because you're not compiling your own 'drunk stories' doesn't mean you can't laugh your ass off as your buddies experience theirs.

I'm gonna give you some advice i wish i knew about four years ago when i started college......instead of pregaming with the fattie labatties, wait until right before you go out, then pound a couple of ounces of hard liquor (sp?) Make sure it doesn't have any extra stuff in it...most brands of vodka and rum are good.....and if you don't like your liquor straight, mix it with tonic water or a sucralose-sweetened drink such as diet 7-up or diet rite....captain morgan and diet rite's the S**T man....keep in mind that even though drinks like diet coke and pepsi that are sweetened with aspartame have no calories, they have more of a metabolic effect than do drinks sweetened with sucralose (splenda).....and by drinking all you can drink at once instead of drinking slowly all night you can maximize your buzz and minimize the extra calories, then while you're out grab a single beer and milk it, hold on to it all night and drink some water and by the time you get home you'll be sober and that means no hangover

You make it sound like you can't have fun without getting ripped.

Lots of alcoholics have this problem.

Listen to shockboxer. Go out and drink water. Sh!t, fill up an empty beer bottle with water if you are taking flak for not drinking.(fuk 'em) Be the DD, laugh at them being drunk and stupid and gaining all that belly fat from the budweiser they drink, then drive them home.

i appreciate your problem as all my mates opinions are you go out to get smashed it sounds daft but i dont know one single person were im from that doesnt go out and get legless. I have a g/f so it means its easier to stay in and have found the casino is a good idea as you can go and spend wot u would on a night out and maybe even win. If all else fails get ure mates to get stoned. stoners stay in all the time lol
