A really good quality shaker cup!!! I'm so tired of these terrible shaker cups that they sell everywhere. I want a screw on lid with a clump buster and an atlarge logo. What do you all think?

I have never had a problem with nitrean mixing in my cheap-ass rubbermaid bottle that I use for a shaker

no clump buster in there either...

Shark
09-29-2005, 11:47 AM
To be honest, I don't need the clump buster for the Nitrean, but that's not the only think I mix in my shaker cup. I just know that if they sold it then I could count on it being a good quality cup.

I don't mind washin' them. But I hate when I forget my bottle in the car or in my bag for a few days--it's stays stinky after washing. I have to let is sit full of water and baking soda and dishsoap for a day or two.

And to the person who mentioned the rubber rings: it's good that they come out. Becasue if you leave them in, water will get trapped between the ring and cap and never fully dry, making it a breeding ground for mildew, mould or bacteria.

Nalgenes are da bomb. I just wish they had one with a pop-up top like my shaker bottle; the wide-mouth ones are a little too wide to drink out of, and the narrow-mouth ones are a bit too small to put powder into w/out a funnel.

chris mason
10-12-2005, 05:45 AM
We have given shirts away several times but never offered them for sale.

Giving shirts away too often lessens the impact of the offer.

That said, we might offer them for sale and then occassionally run a sale where we include them with your order etc.

The shaker cups have to be ordered from a manufacturer and that takes 3-4 weeks. I would expect they will be available in a little over a month. We have to select a decent cup first and that means I have to sort through samples.

If it's the kind where the Clumpbuster is the seal with an impregnated rubber ring get em.
What's to test?
Fill em with water and put em in your gym bag with electronics and previous workouts.
Throw it around and if they don't pop open and send you in a fecal-flinging rage then they's good to go.
At least with the ALN merchandise you can go NOW as opposed to the site's.
I still need a Beanie, a hoodie and 6 shakers.

Bad, huh?

The other issue was that I had to make arrangements to have the product shipped to a port in the US and then to have them trucked here. My inclination was that the cost would be prohibitive but I think I will still get clarification on that point so that we can make an informed decision.

The shaker we are considering now is evidently sold in many GNC locations. It seems to be of good quality.

Anthony
11-23-2005, 07:33 PM

I jsut bought one recently from GNC ( in the US, Seattle to be specific ) and its from a company called VitaMinder. I checked their site out and the one they ahve there is not the same as I bought. For mine, its a three piece. Cap with a nice rubber ring that is permanently placed inside the cap, then the clump buster is its on seperate piece, without a rubber ring on it. Then there is the bottom of course. I am at school and dont have my digital camera with me, but I will take pictures when I get home. Its the best one I've bought from them yet. It was fairly priced as well ( $5 US ). I would definitely buy one or two from you though if you went with a higher quality, but more expensive shaker. The price has no bearing ( within reason ) to me because I would much rather give you guys the money, and I would also much rather invest in a quality product rather then having to buy a bunch of cheapies that crap out in no time at all. Thanks for all the great work you guys!

I have had nothing but positive experiences from this style of shaker. I have one from Smoothie King and another one from Balley's fitness that I got in Toronto. These cups ROCK! They NEVER leak. I wash them in the dishwasher once a week. I've had the Smoothie king one for 2 years now. No lie. Never leaks. The Balley's one I've had for a little under a year, still no leaking from it either. It's big so a full shake mixes very well. The lid is VERY easy to screw on/off. Nothing but great things to say about this style of cup.

A detachable rubber ring, no... There is a white ring that is attached to the inside of the lid. I'm not sure if it's rubber or not. However, the one I've had for a little over 2 years now and wash at least once a week has absolutely no signs of cracking or leaking.

No, but the neck is too small at the top the take a protein scooper... so I have to use like a paper towel funnel every time. Plus, you can't fit your hand inside to wash it and that's just not cool.

You have the wrong bottle then. The one i have has an opening that is 2" in diameter.

Tony - no rubber ring. Its basically like the gaterade bottle, but made out of high quality materials.

All wide mouth bottles:

The one I have:

PS - they even have a color for Tony, Pretty Pink!

Jodi has the pink one, actually. I wouldn't like that style as a shaker - the top isn't wide enough to hand wash (definitely a must for multiple uses while at work), and I'd be concerned about the strap for the cover cracking/ripping (I've had this happen on a rubbermaid bottle).

*thumbs down to the nalgene*

Blah. Get a brush to clean it!

The cover on mine is in good condition after a years use.

Oh well.

That's what I'm sayin as well. NO good!

The opening would have to be pretty large in order to actually fit my hand in the bottle to wash it. Thats why i use a brush.

about cleaning the nalgene, its pretty easy i usually shove a soapy sponge down in there with 2 or three fingers and go around the bottle, and usually this is more than enough to clean the bottle, hypothetically you would really only need to rinse it out and shake it a couple times to get it clean...

Dude, a well used shaker needs more then that to get clean.

I agree. Using just a rinse will leave some grit on the inside. A brush with a handle works just fine though.

are we talking hand washing or dish washer? and i don't know what else you are putting in your shakes but as long as its the same flavor a couple of rinses in a sink cleans my nalgene out just fine, even without soap, but maybe im lucky?

nalgene bottles don't have the clump busters though right?

I tried some Milk Maid shakers for a week. It sucked, I needed about 16 to fit in half the days shakes. Moved onto simple two piece plastic ones, no clump buster or seal.

They aren't necessary for Nitrean anyway. :p

So I decided to give Eric's suggestion a try. I was very skeptical about the Nalgene working as a protein shaker, but I figured if it sucked at least I would have a decent water bottle.

To my surprise this thing is actually pretty sweet. I give it a vote to use as an ALN shaker. I'll write a review for mid month's newsletter, but so far I can say I'm very impressed.

Anthony, the nalgene does work very well and it is big and the protein scoop is a perfect fit into the mouth of the nalgene...even when i use it with ON's whey it still works very well...

I swear, some of these companies just don't reply to emails!

Chris, you should try calling one of their distributors. Don't give up on them yet, the bottles are serious high quality!

Sweet.

I have allways wanted one of those but I've only seen the narrow mouthed version.

Also I have never seen one with any kind of logo so an ALN logo would be sick.

We decided against the Nalgene shaker.

For the time being we are holding off on the shaker idea. We are concentrating on developing some new supplements.

If at large was to sell a shaker, I'd love to get one at about 1L!

Keep dreaming double P they won't sell dextrose because they said they won't make much $$$ on it.

I wish you guys would change your mind on the shaker though, I think 99.9% of the people who buy your protein powders would also buy the shaker if the price was right.

Some of the best shakers I've tried are these Blender Bottles (http://blenderbottle.com/). After seeing them recommended on another forum, I bought 4 from hsn.com of all places. They don't leak (unless you stupidly try to clean them full of hot water sealed by shaking them. Attempting that might get you to have a bit of an explosion of soap suds...), they shake up stuff well with the little ball inside, and they have a very large mouth so you can drop your stuff in easily without getting it everywhere. 28oz, too.

Mine at hsn.com were a lot cheaper than they sell them on their page. I think it was less than $20 for 4. Unfortunately, I don't see them at hsn.com anymore.

No, you are incorrect. We never said we would not sell it because we would not make much money on it. What we said was that we do not think it is something which is of sufficient value to sell to our customers. In other words, I think it is a waste of money. I won't sell something that I think is a waste of money.

*chimes in*. I'd pay for it. 5-10$ USD like ant. Ofcourse I'd put it in with my order of Nitrean.
