Well guys, I'd like to tell you about my experience buying an olympic weight set from bodypower.co.uk, in the hopes that no one else makes the same mistake of buying from them.
As I had reached the stage where the limiting factor in my deadlift was the amount of weight I had, I decided to splash out on a 235kg olympic weight set (http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/product_info_new.asp?prdID=4303). Things first started seeming a little dodgy when a few days after I had placed the order and received a confirmation email, I had still received no further correspondence as to whether the goods had been dispatched. However I later received a call from the courier company to say they were about to make the delivery and to confirm I was available to sign for it. A few minutes later the gentleman comes to the door with the first box of weights, hands me his clipboard and says "There's a few more to come, but first sign this", which I think nothing of and do so. He then proceeds to continue to unload the boxes.
It was later while unpacking them that I discovered I was a box short, and missing the four 5kg plates. Upon discovering this I immediately called Bodypower to notify them of the error. From the start they were extremely unhelpful, stating that I had signed for 11 boxes and there was nothing that could be done, which was ludicrous given the manner in which the courier had conducted himself. By the end of the phone call they had offerred to get the courier to conduct a depot search (yeah right) and would call me the following day with the results.
Of course there was no phone call the following day. The day after that I chase them up. Unsurprisingly the depot search had revealed nothing. The operator I had spoken to had talked to his manager in the mean time and they offered me the option of buying the missing weights at cost, which I refused - all I wanted were the goods I had originally paid for. He said the only other thing he could do was get his manager to call me to which I said yes.
Fast forward a month and still no call from the manager. In an effort to resolve the situation to my satisfaction I am currently chasing both Bodypower and my credit card company, but in the mean time I would like to ensure that people are made aware of the pathetic customer service I have received. Most other companies I have dealt with would be bending over backwards to ensure that their customers have enjoyed a satisfactory sale.
