I'm going to get some dextrose to mix in with my post workout shake, but the website (http://www.1fast400.com/i48_Dextrose.html) says to take it during and before workout, but from the advice on the threads I usually load up on the complex carbs before my workout, should I be taking both simple and complex prior to working out?

It would be best to consume simple carbs as the insulin spike will help surge nutrients into your body cells.

I extremely disagree. Unless you're working out right after eating, then simple carbs are less than optimal. slow carbs are better because they are slow releasing during your w/o and helps keep your energy levels up and stable. Plus a good amt. of slow carbs is good to make sure that pwo you're getting carbs still, because it will take a little while to get your pwo carbs through your system, whether you do a pwo spike or not. Digestion just takes a little time.

When taken with protein, it slows down the digestion of simple carbs.
