Done a good job there, looking very lean. Thats what I'm going for but i've got more bulk as weighing about 190.

Whats your plans? Are you going to bulk?

Thanks man. I don't know what my plans are right now. If I do bulk Its gonna be a slow and clean one. I have always been real lean and I don't think I'd like all the fat that comes along with a quick bulk. I've kinda been doing that over the past 2 months. I've seen a few extra pounds but nothing huge.

Your ab genetics are great, and they show well since you're low BF.

I agree, your lats are lagging. You also don't pose to show them off well, so that could be part of the problem.

Your shoulders seem like they could be a strong point as well. Hard to tell from the photos.

Do you have legs?

Looks good to me (torso, at least). Eat more, show legs, and I hate you for your abs (jealousy++).

Thanks guys. Yea I guess I need to thank grandma and grandpa for the abs, I barley even work them. As for my lats, they could be bigger but they are pretty decent, I wasnt flaring of flexing them a bit in the pics. Honestly, I am not huge on big lats so I am fine with how they are. I'd post more pics but its hard to get shots when you take them yourself. As for my legs, I just started working them out on a regular basis a few months ago and they are comin along. My leg press is up tp 450 pounds at 3X10 (dont know if thats any good) and they are looking really defined. I've also started working my shoulders more. When I got to the gym the three main muscle groups I work most are bi's tri's and shoulders. Usually 3 times week which is how many times I lift upper body, I know thats a lot but it hasnt been a problem, most of my life I lifted with a few weights in my basement so I didn't have many options.

do you squat?

rk77
10-21-2005, 12:10 PM
I do but its not a true squat. I use a machine where you step up on an angled platform and lean your shoulders up against 2 pads. Then you release the saftey lever with your foot and squat the weight you put on. Since its slightly angled you can do more weight. I usually do more then 500 pounds 3x10. I'll try to post a pic of the machine.

Impressive physique. Good job on being extreamly lean while still being muscular. I would say bulk unless your going for that model look. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I think, for my own general health and well being, that the hack squat sled is a better alternative, (for me), than barbell squats. The peace of mind I have while using heavy weight on the sled is priceless. Whenever I had over 300 lbs on my back in the squats I couldn't help but worry about injuring my back.

Oops. I read your post again and I don't think you are using the sled...

Heres a link to a pic of the squat machine I'm talkin about. The one at my schools gym is a little nicer and from a different company buts its pretty much the same exact thing.

I am 100% certain that if you did squats at 200lbs with proper form, rep range, etc, you would be better off for it (and feel it much more than the current machine you use).

Your core would strengthen, stabalizers would be in use, upper body is used, and anybody can attest that the exertion and energy used in a barbell squat is waaaaaaay more intense than a sled or hack machine.

Plus, barbell squats are fun!

Im back at school so I cant post and legs pics unfortunatley. I have a back and leg shot in the pics I posted In August. I belive I posted pics on 3 diff days that month so they would be in there somewhere. Legs have definitly made some gains since then though. As for my upperbody, I'd say I've made slow progress although its nothing much since I've continued to eat pretty clean (getting wasted on the weekend aside) and stay away from a heavy bulk.

Did you bulk first then cut or did you cut till you could see your abs then bulk?

rk77

When I first started lifting I was 170 andI knew nothing about how to eat (protien, ect). My goals were to get ripped (wanted the fight club look) so I kinda dieted while lifting hard. I eventually got down to 150 and made a lot of strength gains and gained muscle (dunno how, begginners gains I guess). I then learned that eating matters and was able to get back up to 170 and made great muscle gains with minimal fat. When I got to college I started running and got down below 165 while maintaing my muscle and maybe even gaining some. If your going for the lean look then I would most definitly cut to see the abs first. But I dont really do the cut or bulk thing like I hear on this site all the time.

I could be wrong but you look pretty lean and ripped. If I had to guess I'd say maybe 6 percent bodyfat.

rk77
11-01-2005, 01:08 PM
Thanks for the input on the BF%. Anyone else agree with that? Also, besides legs is there anything on the upperbody that needs work? I know everything can always be improved but is anything lacking that you could tell?

I don't know if it's quite 6%, that seems pretty low. I look almost as lean as you, and I always thought I was between 10 - 15%

rk77

They say you cant see your abs until you get to 10 percent or lower if you are a guy. So I can't imagine its 10 percent or over.

on another note: heres the pics from august that I had posted http://www.wannabebigforums.com/showthread.php?t=67182

I'd love to get up to 170ish with the same bodyfat. It wont be easy or even probable but if I could get my diet together and be patient it might happen. Esp. now that I work my lower body on a consistant basis.

bobk07
11-17-2005, 12:10 PM
170 isn't that much of weight gain for you (I belive you were in the low 160's). I can't imagine you would put on much bf in the process. Even if you do, it wont be enough that a simple and quick cut won't fix.

It won't be a problem getting up to 170 over the next 6 weeks due to the holidays, but unfortunately moms christmas cookies, alcohol, and good food may be the culrits. Maybe I'll have better self control this year then in the past couple.
