What do you think of my morning shake,
1 scoop of whey (130 cal, 20g protein, 2.5g fat, 5g carbs)
8oz 1% low fat milk (100 cal, 8g protein, 2.5g fat, 12g carbs)
1 cup nonfat yogurt (180 cal, 11g protein, 0g fat, 35g carbs)
2 egg whites (34 cal, 8g protein, 0g fat)
Total: 444 cal, 47g protein, 5g fat, 52g carbs
What do you guys think? This is my post workout shake. Please tell me what you think of it. I am looking for suggestions on what to add, what to take away or if you think it is fine how it is. I am trying to build mass and cut a little.
Well you cant build mass and cut a little at the same time really unless ure a complete newbie to training. And also that looks like it tastes rank. I make them with milk/peanut butter/whey/ice cubes and maybe a banana

Just out of curiositiy (not trying to hijack your thread, The Great), but what do the ice cubes do for a shake? I have a couple friends that said they add ice cubes too, does it make it taste better?

make it cold/provide texture.
also common to use frozen fruit like berries or bananas instead, soas not to dilute the flavor/bring more calories without making too much to consume quickly
Yeh just makes it ice cold almost smothie like taste better and goes down easier as i find my blender tends to make things warm

It isn't that bad, I may try the Ice thing and get rid of the eggs

Tried that ice cubes in my shake tonight, defiantly made it easier to down. Almost tasted exactly like a smoothie.

I mix protein, oats, walnuts (or olive oil), milk, and ice. Tastes pretty good. WW.

That peanut butter sounds like it would be good. What amounts of each ingrediant do you use?

You should take it with water in the morning. It will digest faster which is what you want first thing in the morning.
standard shake is
1 scoop whey
1 tbsp natty pb (really depends how peanut buttery you want it)
8 oz milk
as many icecubes for texture (your pref)

Doesn't make that big a difference. In fact, having something digest slower will provide a steady stream of nutrients. Don't need to be obsessive over minor details like that.
I wouldn't use caesin in a PWO shake unless your body has problems metabolizing whey protein fractions. water or juice only in the PWO shake
I use 25g of peanut butter in my shakes
