Evenin folks.

Just joined the forum and i'm curious as to whethere there are martial artists here. If so, what do you train in.

I know this may not be the ideal topic for this area of the forum, but, I would also like to hear what other martial artists do for their workout/fitness.

Mine is more of a simple training as i've no real experience in weightlifting etc but i feel i would benefit from it if i know what would be the more ideal aspects to look at in terms of wieght lifting as a martial artist.

I'm not looking to increase my bulk, but more to fine tune it.

any tips advice is much appreciated

I doubt boxing is a martial art but Ima post anyways. I box m/w/f for atleast 2hours each session. I lift weights 3-4x/week with no routine set in stone but it's usually
Push: 6sets chest/ 3sets shoulders/ 3sets triceps
Pull: 6sets back/ 3sets rear delts/ 3sets traps/ 3sets biceps/ 3 sets forearms
(I don't do trap/forearm work if I deadlift that week)
Legs: alternate deadlift/leg press and squats/romanian deadlift
Often I have a second leg day for speed squats and mostly ab calf work

Idealy, i'd probably be looking to do some work on my legs as i mainly participate in Tae Kwon Do which is the korean Kicking martial art.

What would be a good set to do to tighten up the hip muscles?

Chris masons routine would be a good place to start for functional strength

You could also look up WBB#1 or 5x5
By the way, people who practice kicking martial arts like muay thai(spelling?) scare me. Kicking for the knees is no fair =(
