I been searching the web around to find a forum to ask this question and i finally found one.

When I goto the gym I am a beginer. When I do the chest, I start off with dumbells, now I can put up 85's on my own but Need help with the 90's. I feel that If I didnt put up the 85's and went striaght to the 90's I coudl put it up on my own becuase Ill have all my strength. See I loose strength very easy after each set., so I start off with the dumbels by going from 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, so I can warm up. Do you think if I skipped the 80's and 85's and went to the 90's I would pull a muscle ? I know it may be a stupid question but im new.

Thanks

No i dont think so i would do 2/3 warm up sets the 2/3 working sets maybe warm up with the 50/60 then go 70/80/90 or even 65/75/90 just my opinion tho others may have different ideas

I suggest a good warmup, followed by three of four sets with the same weight.

For example:

Warmup:

45'sx10
45'sx10
60'sx6
75x3
85x1 (yes, 1!)

Then:
90's x4-6 for three sets

those are impressive number... keep it up.

Ya, if you can DB press 85's without having lifted weights before you must be strong as hell.

I'm with BG though, you shouldn't jump right onto the 85s. Warm ups are key.
