When they list a percentage of recommended daily value, they base it off a 2000 calorie diet. It means nothing, ignore it.

Averages for 'recommended' are deceiving. My own maintenace before I started lifting was around 2000 ... average woman's. Not surprising to me as I am average woman height and had a slug-like lifestyle.
Ignore it. Track your own calories. First and best thing I learned here.

Its the average of the nation's caloric intake found by statistical studies. You have to remember that there are a lot of old women and girls that eat 1000 cals or less. And you cant have 3000 cals for them esp given their knowledge, theyd think they could eat like a horse. So 2000 is somewhat a medium. Well at least its better than 1000 cals think about it like that.

Absolutely.. they are reccommended maintenance values for an average person. Enough to keep your body ticking over without gaining or losing much.
We are not average.
