Increase in vasodilation (pump) for about 3-4 hours (taking 3 gms of L-arginine, 1.5 gm L-ornithine) at the same time. Be sure to take a gm of vitamin C. I've found that it extends the duration of the pump.

Why would you take a supplement just to get a pump? What does that have to do with the physiology of getting bigger or stronger?

Junk. I've been using Arginine (15 grams) and it didn't do a damn thing for me.

I don't care what any of the bashers say about Arginine, it works awesome for me. It keeps me pumped all the time when I take it. It also helps make the muscle "look" fuller and feel harder. No more than what it costs, it's worth taking if you are into that sort of thing.

It's kinda like glutamine, some like it, others think it's a waste. If you like it cool, if you don't, cool. All to their own.

No, I can usually get 3-4 hours out of it. That's why I mix the L-Ornithine with it. The ornithine is reduced to L-arginine in your body, and the conversion can take a few hours. There is a very gradual taper after 2.5 hours though, but hell I'm not usually out past 2AM anyway, so......

"To each his own" is the phrase you're looking for I think (at least I think it's like that).

In any event, I'm not saying arginine doesn't do what it claims to do, but people buying these ridiculous "BSN Mass Stacks" or the like seem to be overpaying for the effects.

I agree, that's why I buy the raw aminos in capsule/powder form, and leave the other stuff for those more easily marketed to.

This is actually backwards. Arginine metabolizes into ornithine.

Actually it works both ways. Ornithine can be made from arginine then can be metabolzed back as a byproduct of glutamic acid and citrulline formation.

Ah. Well I'll be damned.
My understanding was people took a combination because the ornithine was already partially broken down, and that it was what actually had the vasodilation effect.

from my understandings arginine is what dilates(sp) the blood vessels and ornithine increases ur growth hormones. also since i have been takin arginine i havent had to take my bp meds. so i have found one + atleast.
