I know I know, everyone's first comment will be where are the leg shots?!?!? Well, I am thinking of taking some, but they are rather pathetic

I've lifted since I was 14. Took about 8 months off, gained a bunch of weight, lost most of it this summer then decided to start really working out properly. This is after about 3 months of serious lifting.

Still debating whether or not to post any legs

I'm at about 170lbs right now... I was thinking of continuing to bulk until I hit 180 then do a light cut. What do you guys think?

How tall are you?
I say don't cut yet- not even at 180. You could get into the 200 range pretty easily and still probably not need to cut yet. You're coming along well, but it's time to start packing it on- don't fear the bulk. The biggest mistake I made when I started (aside from WAY too much volume and no squats/deads) was that I was paranoid about gaining fat and ended up screwing around with maintenance level calories for WAY too long. Once you accept the fact that you're going to get a little fatter, gaining weight is a beautiful thing.

You're still fairly lean, tho you seem to be developing a small pouch on the bottom part of your stomach (angle and picture is kind of blurry, so can't tell for sure). I'd just bulk til you feel uncomfortable, then cut.

I am 5'9". We'll see, how much fat I have put on by the time I hit 180lbs.

I agree! What kinds of exercises will build lats? They are the one thing I find are never sore!

My guess is that you'll still be pretty lean at 180. Load that mass on there and worry about cutting later.

For lats: chins (shoulder width or parallel grip- stay away from wide grip ****), weighted if you can do them, and rows- I prefer barbell or t-bar, but there are many MANY varieties of rows and you'll have to find what works for you. Lots of people like dumbbell rows, although I'm not one of them (I know Nash, I know...). Some people like pullovers too. But rows and chins are your best bet.

You should also remember that soreness is not an indicator of growth, so don't use that as a guide when training.
