I love milk, but with having to down over a gallon of water a day, I usually only get in 2 cups of milk a day. Also it's not very filling to me...unless I drink many cups at once. How/why do you guys drink so much, personally i would rather use the calories to eat something, but thats just me, keep in mind this is coming from someone who LOVES milk.

a jar of pb helps me down my milk ;)

How: I pour it in a cup and drink it. 5+cups a day usually

Why: Well it has been said on this forum before that milk is like liquid meat. Drinking something for cals is easier than eating. Chewing sux, and burns too many cals :D

Milk fills me up, especially whole. If you drink about 2-3L of milk a day, and 2L of water, you should be hydrated, if that's what you are worried about with the Gallon/day comment.

Remember, milk has water in it. I'm sure some people here who drink a gallon of milk don't down a gallon of water on the same day.

I can easily drink a gallon of milk + 2 gallons of water a day.

Oh man I would much rather drink milk than have to eat. It goes down so much easier. Now if I try to drink too much before I work out, then I would say that I would be sick. But like getfit said just grab a jar of pb and you will drink more milk, or be forced to walk around lookin like MR. ED.

Milk is a good thing, but I dont go crazy with it. I drink perhaps on average less then 1 cup a day when im not diet concious. When im sticking to my training/eating scehdules then I drink a gallon and a half of water and around a quart of milk each day.

so a lot of people here would rather drink milk than eat...I guess I'm the opposite, I like to eat, especially now that I have been on the bulk. Of course I'm only doing 3000 cals a day. If I had to do 5k like some people then a half a gallon to a gallon of milk would probably be much easier.

i just love milk period. we go through 2 gallons in 3-4 days, and the wife only drinks it at dinner and with cereal in the morning. now that i'm on fitday, i'll likely drink more now :zipit:

Huh. I love milk, but for some reason I've tried not to go overboard with it. Is there any way you can drink too much milk? Granted you're not lactose intollerant.

When I'm bulking I get about a gallon of milk a day, and not much less when I am cutting. It tastes great, has a good amount of protein and is an easy way to pack in the calories.

12+ litres a week. But now I've switched from 2% to skim.

Milk is generally not very filling, calorie for calorie. So drinking a lot of milk is bad on a cut if you are having a problem eating below maintenance. Likewise, it's great on a bulk if you are having trouble eating at a proper surplus.

A thread about milk, awesome.

I probably drink about a gallon a day. I find drinking milk to be a MUCH easier way to get calories than eating. When you're trying to consume at least 4500 calories daily, you don't enjoy eating so much anymore

About 1/4 of my daily milk intake is right before bed. I feel like I'm going to throw up, but I don't. You just need to suck it up and drink it.

Milk is #1

Yeah, what bschatz said. I can down 600 calories worth of milk right now like nothing, and there's no way i could do that with solid foods right now. I drink close to a gallon a day.

I'd like to see you drink 5 cups of milk right now. This is assuming you are close to full, as you stated you couldn't do that with solid food right now.

I do it all the time mitch. And it's only 4 cups of milk.

Vitamin D Milk 150 calories per cup - 150 x 4 = 600calories.

You can do that "like nothing"? I mean, I can prob. get 6 cups down if I really needed to. But it certainlu wouldn't be "like nothing".

Not that this has to do with the thread, but my best friend Brett was bet $5.00 that he couldn't drink a gallon of milk in one setting. He was told it wasn't physically possible. So he took them up on the bet and sent a co-worker to the store for a gallon of 1%. As a side note, this took place while at work, as a lifeguard, on a day that was over 90 degrees. He ended up drinking the entire gallon in about 10 minutes. I think he held it in for about 15 minutes before yacking all over the lawn. Good times, good times.

Now let's have some ****ing milk!

Lol, drinking alot of milk isn't that hard. 2 cups of breakfast, maybe w/ some hershey's chocolate if your bulking/feeling lazy. Maybe some with lunch, 2 cups in a shake, and then a couple of cups before bed and you've got 6-8 cups a day easy, well, at least for me.

Are you serious? I can easily drink 5-6 cups without stopping, I feel a little bloated afterwards, but not as bad as gorging on solid food. I do drink 1.5-2 gallons a day though, so maybe my body has a higher tolerance for it.

I LOVE milk and always have... I never understood why my dad used to complain about it till I grew up and had to start buying it myself. I don't know what it's priced like where you guys are, but where I am it's bloody highway robbery!!! Something like $3.43 + tax for a 2 liter. (I think that works out to $2.90 US a liter)...

My wife drinks it and uses it on cereal, oatmeal and tea, I drink it and use it in shakes, oatmeal and cereal and my son drinks it all the time... you would not believe what we spend on milk.... and it makes me sick to think that pop is cheaper than milk or even water! Where is societies priorities? It's no wonder people are feeding their kids pop all the time....

In US currency it's something like $5.50 a gallon if they pay as much for milk as we do in Canada.

I live in Canada too and it costs me $3.26 for a 4L jug of Skim Milk.

Also, I should add that since milk is a necessity you shouldn't be getting charged tax on it. Someone is ripping you off. ;)

That's twice the milk for the same price... that can't be right. What province do you live in... I thought the price was regulated country wide by the dairy council of Canada.

Tofer
11-30-2005, 03:43 PM
Manitoba. It's the same price at Safeway, Sobey's, Superstore and even Wal-Mart.

ShockBoxer

Yeah, same here in Nova Scotia... only it's version of same price is 3.63 per two liter. And we're poorer than Manitoba.

Sigh.

lol, here its like $2.79 for a gallon of milk. (1 gallon=3.78 litres) ($2.79 U.S. = $3.26 Canadian) So its just about what you guys are paying.

Just drink loads of water too.

That much milk gives you 400% of your RDA of calcium. I dont want kidney stones ar hypercalcaemia.

I get 4L of milk for $3.15 in Winnipeg, Canada. It's cheaper than bottled water practically.

Why do you need to drink a gallon of water a day?

So wait, milk counts as calories? Iv only included the calories of milk in my shake. If milk counts towards my calories, then thats awesome! 1000cals a day from milk!

dont get alll ancy with me. I see a liquid as no calories so I treated them as one. If milk calories do count in my behlaf unlike pop then I will start counting them
