Hope you got a lot of them. I personally don't think they are a great buy since you get a fair amount in food and whey protein, but normal dosages range from 5-20 grams.

None!
In the future spend the money on food instead.

Shao-lin, i see what your saying, but this is why its called supplementing.
Franco, Wow good advice bro! But frankly not everyone makes easy gains, and supplementing has helped me gain alot.
Patricicky, Welcome to the board. Guess what many foods have glutamine in it, and the amount of glutamine you get in supplemental is not much. 200mg or so i beleive.
Anyway, i guess Shao-lin answered it. 5-20grams per day.
Thanks

I'm quite aware of why it's called supplementing, but if you're getting more than enough in food and other supplements, then what's the point? Just to buy it?

Waste of money. Take however much you want to get rid of it, then don't buy again as they said above. Doesn't look like you want to listen though.

Your right CHip! I dont wanna listen! I heed the advice but i dont always follow it. 15 months ago i was barely 140lbs...today i am around 185lbs. My body fat has maintained. So alot of it is muscle. I eat alot. ALOT. but i need supps as well to help.

You won't gain any weight from glutamine - but it may help your bowel if you have IBS. That's pretty much what it's good for - unless you're in a burn unit and are getting it intravenously, it's really just expensive nothing.
Put it this way - taking 20g of glutamine as a supplement is like drinking an extra half cup of water every day and thinking it'll make you more hydrated - it's really just a drop in the bucket. And I used to take it AND I totally believed in it - until I ran out and ... nothing happened.
Take it if you like - but unless you're on a very low protein diet and are taking 20-40g a day, it's unlikely to have any effect at all except for lightening your wallet.

I'm going to post a link to what I believe is one of the better threads regarding glutamine on this forum.

I've heard people benifit from supplementing 10g of glutamine, but you usually get way for than that in food - such as shakes + protein bars. 600mg is nothing.
