Can you ever take too much inositol?
I take a multi with inositol hexaniacinate (niacin) and I was also going to take a choline supplement that had inositol in it as well. But I don't want to harm myself.

If it's water soluble (I believe it is) then you are safe.

are you taking those for cognitive enhancement out of curiousity?

Yes mostly for cognitive inhancement. I was a heavy marijuana user this past semester and am going clean for a long time and I would like to clean my brain out. I also slowed the drinking to next to nothing, such as an occasional beer. I heard choline would help with damage from marijuana. I also like the feeling I get when new ideas pop out of my head and my thoughts can race (thus, giving up marijuana). So, yes, for cognitive inhancement.
Also, I heard it helps with some fat loss as well, so its an added bonus. I take Acetyl-L-Carnitine (4-6 grams a day) as well, and I heard this stack is good. The ALCAR has already helped me clean out my brain very much as has abstinence and regularly working out.

several things. first, you may want to take some ala w/ the alcar. not required but a good idea.
you won't help damage from marijuana. however, in theory, higher choline intake would lead to higher acetylcholine (i believe that's the term for choline in the form in your brain) levels in the brain, which is significant because it is an important neurotransmitter.
i am a 22 year old college student, and was in a similar situation as yours - daily mj making you a bit foggy at times, or at least thinking that you could be clearer. i began by just taking choline / inositol, 250mg of each once or twice daily. i thought it did a little, but definitely not enough to rule out placebo effect. these are actually in a class of supplements called nootropics. i can tell you from experience that you may just want to forego the choline, as it isn't hugely effective alone, and i defin9itely know because i went through all of this in the past 6 months. after wanting to learn more about how to get my desired effects from choline, i learned about nootropics, and just purchased a premade formula, which i thought worked rather well. it was called neurostim + C, by scivation. this product was actually out of my price range for long term, but i wanted to be convinced that i could find a noticeable effect from a nootropic product before further $ and time researching. well, the neurostim did make a noticeable difference, so from there i learned more, and now i take another premade formula that is 15$ monthly, which isn't as strong, but still helps, and is not 35$ monthly.
anyways, i'm sure you're taking teh obvious stuff like good multis and fish oils right? assuming you are, i definitely suggest that you skip the choline and just get a premade formula. i'm currently using memory support (by Prevention), which has choline, ala, vinpocetine, huperzine A, folic acid, and ginkgo. good formula for 15$, but if you want something better you may want to give hte neurostim a shot. also, you may want to look into piracetam, it seems very promising, however, i have not come across a premade formula that contains it ( i believe it's because a) you need larger amounts than you'd want in a once daily formula, and b) people seem to be hgihly individual in their dosing). i was going to try it, but am satisfied with my current regimen and don't care enough to spend more time and money to change it.
this is all from my very limited personal nootropic experience. i am only giving you a synopsis because a) there is boatloads of new stuff you need to learn if you want to really undersstand nootropics, and b) your situation is damn near exactly like mine was very recdently, so i thought you'd like to hear.
if you have any more quesitons, don't hesitate to ask

I dont know much about inositol in high doses but I know that high doses of choline, can cause nausea and headaches.

thanks jazer, it did help and I have been interested in nootropics for awhile. ALCAR is considered one I believe. I will look into the different items you mentioned. I tried a simalar formula last year and I found it made me irritable or some such.
I do take r-ala post workout.
I keep forgetting to take the fish oils but I do take them when I remember and I have a multi.
I have a free sample of the neurostim at home and the caffiene content is way too high for me as I am stimulent sensitive. I am on occasonal 5mg folcalin (ritalin) and i need to split it to prevent a huge rush.
gmanky, What would be considered a high dose of choline?

i believe the doses of choline that could cause headaches in any reasonably significant % of those trying are higher than recommended, but i'll let him field that one.
neurostim has a 6 pill serving that contains 125mg caffeine if i recall correctly. i would take half servings of that, you should be good with those, especially if you take ritalin, which i'd imagine woudl help your tolerance to other weaker stimulants
