hi all,

i was wondering how slow could a metabolism possibly get.

Context:
I'm 6'0 around 209 lb. I've been cutting at ~2100-2000 calories on workout days and ~1800 calories on rest days. I have not dropped any weight, the only diff i saw was a drop in bf%, however that has seemed to plateau. Is it possible for my metabolism to slow down that much? because i've been getting remarks that i'm cutting at a big deficit for someone my size.

my diets been at ~200g protein a day, and 90ish g fat a day, making up around 1600 calories of my daily intake
I cheat on a regular basis, around once every week and a half or so

workout 3 times a week, upper lower split

i've been considering going maintenance for about a month and then see where i get at, then maybe doing a PSMF, or velocity type diet to drop the last part of the belly fat.

Wow, thats some low cals to cut on being 6' 209.

I think it might be good for you to re-evaluate how many cals it takes to gain some weight, and how many it takes to stay the same.

Will your body hold a constant state if it thinks you are starving it?

Try eating towards 2500 and then 3000 progressively over the next 2 weeks.

It's hard to tell with water weight when you've hit that 'bulk a pound' state, I'm finding. I'm in the exact same boat... want to lose the last of the belly fat and stalled at 1800 cals (difference being I'm 50 lb lighter!) so I upped to 2400.

Thought I might have gained a pound but I'm back down to 163 again today.

Unless you have a hell of a slow metabolism, even slower than mine, I'd say 1800 is way too low. My calculated base metabolic rate is 1790 and like I said... 50 lb lighter.

i think it might be really slow, is it normal to make gains on a cut? I increased all of my lifts by around 25 lb or so in about 2-3 months while on that 2100 calorie a day intake

Were you new to lifting?

Since I've been cutting since I started ALL I've made are gains while cutting.

^ hahah

well i lifted for around 3-4 months before joing wbb, then when scholl started in august i started to cut at 2000 a day. i took a break mid october becuase of a back injury but so far i've kept on track since then

but im just kinda worried cuz 2000 and 1800 are really close to my minimum thing of 1600 (thats without carbs 200g protein and 100g fat)

So why no carbs? Just wondering?

trying to cycle, and my limit doesnt allow that many carbs a day if i stay within the 1 g protein\ lb lbm and .5g for fats

I would drop your cals to 1800 seven days a week and cut out most of your carbs on non lift days.

BTW what part of SD do you live in?

Thats cool, I'm currently working and going to Mesa college. I live near USD. We should get together and hit up the gym sometime.

This is probably good advice for you, I would hesitate to drop my cals any lower than you have until I went above mainteance and made sure my metabolism was functioning properly.

ok i checked today, i ate at around 2500 calories for 6 days and i dropped a little over a lb.. so i guess i was at starvation?

^That's really encouraging, cuz I'm EXACTLY where you're at, i have a thread similar to this. I've been doing 1800 cals for the last month or so, and I'm 6'0'', 187 right now. But there is stubborn fatty areas that I can't drop. I'm thinking about putting my cals to about 2100,2200 for a week and see what happens.
