My best memories from college science coarse...
>>Dehydration
>>blocks the ability of the body to asborb nutrients
>>kills brain cells

But then after 3 glasses of red wine and 4 bottles of dark beer last night.. I might not have the best memory..

my biggest problem with drinking is that it throws off my diet for 2 days (the night of drinking and the hungover next day). It's hard to make gains when your not being consistent with your diet.

It basically ****s protein synthesis, really. Some people deal with it better than others.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're getting hammered on a regular basis.

Then again, I wouldn't be lifting hard and drinking later that day either, or drinking then planning to lift the next day. It's not going to work if you're hung over.

Nor if your protein synthesis is halted because you are still metabolising the alcohol.

not something to worry about in moderation. the important thing is saying no to to those late-nite, already-had-seven-drinks rounds of shots. i know thats what always killed me.

It screws with protein synthesis and lowers testosterone.

That said, your body won't store nearly any alcohol calories, so if you desire decreased muscle mass, and desire an increased gut, you're good to go.
