Here we go again... :)

Im back and staying round here for good!

I'll give you a quick rundown

Stats:
Age: 22
Height: 6'2
Weight: 237lbs
Waist: 36"

Training: 4yrs

Goals have changed, im training for a more athletic physique these days. Size isnt a priority, im going to work my way down to 210lbs, aiming for a 33" waist. I'll keep updates on workouts and stats. Time to get cracking!

Workout B: (5/1/06)

DB Curl: LT = 20kg x 8,6
TT = 20kg x 8,7

EZ Barl Curl: LT = 34kg x 12
TT = 36kg x 10 (!)

BB Shoulder Press (paused) LT = 65kg x 8,6
TT = 65kg x 8,7

(LT = Last Time, TT = This Time. (!) = PR)

All lifts are performed in a explosive positive 1-2 secs and a Controlled negative 4-6 secs.

Im not expecting much if any strength gains, just holding/maintaining as im in a calorie deficit at the moment.

Gone!....

You're not even 25yrs of age yet and are huge...best of luck in trimming up.

Cocoa!!!! Whats good bro?! :) Good to see you round here. Trim is the word, i reckon ive got around 30lbs to drop to where i want to be. Stick around bro, your an inspriation big guy :)

Risk & BS: Thanks on the comments, appreciated fellas. Im nothing special, just a skinny guy who's less skinnier than 3yrs ago!

*Ive attached a photo, it only a crappy phone pic, will give an idea on how im looking. Most of the body fat i do carry is in the wheels and glutes. I'll post more pics as i get leaner and less ghost, pale looking!*

Risk and Cocoa: Cheers fellas compliments appreciated :)

Well Forum was down for a few days i think so no chance to update:

9/1/06 (Chest and Back)

DB Press: LT = 30kg x 12,12
TT = 32kg x 12,12

CGB: LT = 90 x 5,4
TT = 85kg x 6,5

Chins: LT = 15 total
TT = 17 Total

DB Row: LT = 46kg x 8,8
TT = 44kg x 8,8

Diet is well underway im down to 230lbs already! thats 10lbs in 10 days! Ive decided to lower the weight for two reasons:

1: Concentrate on keeping form tight as possible

2: Avoid injury and joint pain

12/1/06 (Back and Shoulders)

BB Curl: LT = NA
TT = 45kg x 6,6

EZ Bar Curl: LT = 36kg x 10
TT = 36kg x 12

BB Overhead Press: LT = 65kg x 8,7
TT = 65kg x 6,5

Finished off with a few sets of side laterals, real light.

Totally off topic, but i watched Taxi Driver for the first time the other day. It was good in parts but seemed like it wasnt going anywhere alot of the time. Give me Goodfellas or Casino anyday!!!

Wow, you lost 10lbs in 10 days - happy for you since that's what you want but I hate to see you losing weight so fast though...doing some good movements for upper body to keep the move on with it.

Cocoa Thanks bud, ive increased cals a bit, didnt like how the weight was dropping either, taking a steadier route :)

16/1/06

Chest and Back

DB Bench: LT = 32kg x 12,12
TT = 36kg x 12,9 (!)

CGB (paused): LT = 85kg 6,5
TT = 85kg x 8, 6

Chins: LT = 17
TT = 16

DB Row: LT = 44kg x 8, 8
TT = 44kg x 8,8

Not a bad workout, strength increased in some areas, some decreased. Still holding my size and waist is coming down so its all good :)

Venom : Thanks :) comments appreciated as always

ericg : i need to check in on your journal, used to like reading yours back in the day. cheers for the advice on aftercare for the tat, ur a legend :)

cocoa: haha i took them for you my friend ;) seriously though i took them to show a female friend, and i thought **** it and posted in here too :)

bschatz: Thanks for chiming in fella, i dont know... to me i look blocky, taper isnt really there like i would want.

This might sound strange but the exercise that gave me most of my strength and size, has also turned out to be my biggest downfall. In terms of my waist, the obliques have obviously had to adapt to the load (500lbs) deadlifts. Since taking them out, i have noticed my spinal erectors are decreasing as are my traps, but im feeling alot better and propotions are looking better, i know fat loss comes into it aswell.

If anyone is reading who wants size...DEADLIFT! nothing comes close, ive never been to failure either that must tell the 'must go to failure' beleivers something!!!

Weight this morning 229lbs (-1lb since last week) 19/1/06

I did a refeed on Sat night and it came out to around 5000 cals plus 2000 from the rest of the day. Im thinking it must of been too high in cals. There wont be another one for 2 weeks so, should see more weight off next week.

45mins cardio (Treadmill walking/incline + cycle)

Will post todays diet later...

Gone...

Workout 19/1/06

Bi's and Shoulders:

BB Curl: LT = 45kg (100lbs) x 6,6
TT = 47.5kg (105lbs) x 6,5 (!)

EZ Bar Curl: LT = 36kg x 12
TT = 40kg x 10 (!)

BB Overhead Press (paused) LT = 65kg (143lbs) x 8,4
TT = 65kg (143lbs) x 6,4

Side Laterals: 6kg (14lbs) x 12,12,12

Shocked that i hit 2 PRs on the bicep movements, dont know how i managed it but im happy :)

Overhead press is done with a 1second pause at the bottom, i find doing this helps me have complete control over the weight and keeps form tight as possible, which with my shoulders i need!

Here's a sample of yesterdays diet, i do pretty much the same thing everyday with the exception of some different foods and post workout

Meal 1: Salmon, Green Beans + Some Salted Peanuts (400cals)

Meal 2: Tuna (1can) + Oats (150cals worth) + apple (50cals) = 400cals

Meal 3: PWO = 3 Scoops whey, oats 300cals worth plus an apple = 650 cals

Meal 4: PPWO Chicken, Oats (150 cals) = (450cals)

Meal 5: Tuna + Salted Peanuts and green beans+2xfish oil caps = 300cals

Total = 2200cals Protein is around the 220g-240g mark.

On a rest day i hover around 1,600, 1,800 cals

Comments: Really starting to tighten up, its weird how the leaner you get the bigger you feel. I know once the cut is over i'll feel like a Samalian but such is the life of a body dysmorphic lol!

thought id add a pic of my calve, havent trained my legs in 14 months, never train calves. I thought i had a pic of my legs aswell, but cant find it, will take one later to show how they looking :)

01-24-2006, 05:35 AM
cheers cocoa and eric always a pleasure to have you guys drop in :)

23/1/06

Chest and Back:

DB Press: LT = 36kg (80lbs) x 11,9
TT = 38kg (84lbs) x 9,7 (!)

CGB (paused) LT = 85kg (187lbs) x 6, 5
TT = 80kg (176lbs) x 8,7

Chins: LT = BW x (16)
TT = BW x 16

DB Row = LT 44kg x 8,8
TT = 40kg x 10,10

Thats the heaviest ive ever been with the DB press! and my calories have been down in the 1600 region! I dont get it! i really dont!

It seems when i try to bulk i get lazy and dont gain strength like i should, then when i cut i go hardcore, im confused!

Everything else was okay. just a note on the paused bench press, give it a try! It makes sure your form is 100% tight, sure your not doing continuous reps, but i think they are over-rated, my tri's definately took a beating from this!!!

coke eric & Kev

Thanks for the comments :) i dont know where the strength is coming from, but my determination not to lose strength is all i can think of. If u put your mind to it you can overcome any obstacle, dieting included!

Workout B (26/1/06)

BB Curl: LT = 47.5kg (105lbs x 6,4)
TT = 45kg (100lbs) x 8,8

EZ Bar curl: LT = 40kg (90lbs) x 9
TT = 40kg (90lbs) x 8,8

BB (paused) Shoulder Press: LT = 65kg (143lbs) x 6,4
TT = 60kg x (132lbs) x 8,7

DB Laterals: LT = 6kg (14lbs) x 12,12,12
TT = 8kg (18lbs) x 12,12

Workout went well, dropped the weight so i could be as close to 8 reps as possible, right now i dont want to let an injury creep in so moving to 8 reps was definately the right thing to do. DB laterals serve a purpose of a pump (to help with facia stretching, i dont know if it works well, but since starting doing it ive noticed a different look to my shoulders)

Weight on scale: LT = 229lbs, TT = 226lbs (-3lbs)
Thats weight 7 days later at the exact same time 8am before food, carb depleted. I took a photo aswell. Anyone have an idea on bodyfat?! i want to get down to single digits...eventually lol

:)

Damn Andy, you're huge now! I can't believe you're 226 pounds, lol.

As for bf, I'd guess 13-14%.

And please please please don't do the carb starving ****! Carb cycling is the BEST. I'm doing it now and am having great results without having weak-ass workouts... I'll post pics sometime around Spring Break.

lol your too kind bro :) I remember when i first came to the site in 02 @ 165lbs looking like an autswizch (sp?) victim!

Where's your journal?! when i came back it was first one i looked for but no luck!

The link was much appreciated fella, really interesting link. I will definately switch to that as of next week (thurs) Im hooking up with an old girlfriend nxt week and thought id try the shock factor. last time we were together i had a 38" chest lol! Gona do the water depletion, carb load etc... dont know how much effect it will have but, it will be interesting to see how i react.

Ive actually been reading Lyles 'A Guide to Flexible Dieting' and was thinking of getting into that, but this cycling sounds like it could suit me well :)

Get them pics up nephew, holding 8% you must be looking razor sharp, last pic i saw of you was when you had leaned waaay down and were going to some kinda hawaian party?!

Coke: no doubt bro! gotta be done :)

G.O.D (lol): Thanks ST, will do i think im getting on track, after a short while of havin my panties in a twist!

Workout 30/1/06:

Chest and Biceps:

DB Bench: 38kg (84lbs) x 9,6
TT - 40kg (90lbs) x 8,7 (!)

Incline bench: LT = NA
TT = 90kg (200lbs) x 6,6

Biceps: Abondoned!

Well the workout started awsome, strongest ive ever been and im 4 weeks into dieting! Dumbbells felt pretty light! Incline bench hasnt been done in months, but felt really nice and my chest is really sore from it

Biceps were another story; did my warm up sets, moved into my workset (100lbs) after 6 reps i got a sharp pain in my forearm (left) tried picking the weight up again but it was a NO NO, **** i must of said **** at least 50 times!

Going to rest it and when im right im dropping barbell curls for good they just aint worth it.

Shoulders and tri's:
Friday 3/2/06

BB Overhead Press (1sec pause at bottom of reps) LT = 60kg x 8,7
TT = 60kg x 8,8

Side Laterals: LT = 8kg x 12,12
TT = 10kg x 10,10

CGB (paused) LT = 80kg x 8.7
TT = 80kg x 8,8

Lying DB Tricep Extensions: LT = N/A
TT = 10kg (each hand) x 10,10

Nice session, the tricep ext destroyed my tri;s the soreness today is nothing like ive ever experienced! probably explans why my tris look like ****.

Weighed in at 225lbs with a 35" waist. an inch away from goal. its in sight lol, i think i should get it quite easy :)

Coke

Knocking off an inch from the waist is a very resonable plan man...quite solid there at 225lbs, it would be nice if you could stay at that weight while getting the waist down to where you want it at 34".

Tell me about it coke fella, i seriously hate trying to cut, diet. Becuase when im not dieting i feel good, and dont really worry about body fat. But when i start cutting, the lower i go the fatter i feel! its really weird, guess its the pyshcology of dieting, mixed with a lil body dismorphia lol!

As soon as i resume a normal diet, i feel good again :bash:

Part of the problem is that im not sure what my waist measurement should be, i dont care what anyone says deadlifting upto 500lbs+ will increase your waist girth, regardless of body fat, from development of spinal errectors, obliques and abdominals. I have got fat, but not too much. I think 34" should be about right.

Chest and Bi's: 6/2/06

DB Bench: LT = 40kg x 8,7
TT = 40kg x 8, 7.5!

Incline bench: LT = 90kg x 6,6
TT = 90kg x 4 / 70kg x 12

Extreme stretch: 30kg flyes x 90 seconds

Chins: LT = NA
TT = BW x 5,5,4

DB Curl: LT = N/A
TT = 14kg (each hand) x 30

Definately feeling the diet, last week i went into this workout off a refeed. This time im keeping a more even keel, higher intake (no refeed) I feel there will be less chance of me making errors.

The strength tapered, especially with the chest. Its okay, if i can keep the numbers within 5kgs in each lift it will be good enough for me.

Track of the day: Dont know if you have heard the 3-6-mafia Stay Fly track, but here's the original, sounds way better in my opinion :)

I typed out a long-ass reply on wednesday, must of taken me 20mins+ when i pressed post my ****ing computer crashed!

Thanks for all the props guys, well Game is 26, im 22. So i figure by the time im 26, ill look like LL :cool:

Wednesdays workout was done at work all on Nautilus equipment (trained back) not a bad workout, everything was slow controlled, trying to get my lats growing (width sucks, thickness is good)

Workout C (10,2,06) Delts n Tri's

Paused Overhead Press BB: LT = 60kg x 8,8
TT = 65kg x 8, 7

DB Press: LT NA
TT = 16kg x 16

CGB (paused) LT = 80kg x 8,8
TT = 82.5kg x 8,6

DB Tri extension: LT = 10kg x 10,10
TT = 12kg x 9

Decent workout, my tri's got hella pumps (usually dont) Im experimenting with 2 heavy sets 6-8 reps. Then a single set (different exercise) at 10+ reps, the rationale is that im going to get hypertrophy of both muscles fibres and then the sarcoplasmic hypertrphy.

Would probably work better if i was adding weight and not cutting, but its practise.

Weighed in at 226lbs (again) same as 2wks ago, i feel leaner though. So no complaints.

Cheers bro, my workout time is usually 30-40 mins max. When im going for size its usually more like 60mins, becuase i rest longer between sets.

Split is:

Mon: Chest and bi's
Wed:Back
Fri:Soulders and Tri's

Not training legs currently, becuase ive got a whole 'lot' of them, without training them...

I do one day a week, where i throw in some 'DIRTY' food, just to satisfy the fat man! Then another day i have a free meal within reason, e.g, big mac meal for example.

Works well, i know that if i want to get below 10% ill have to give up those days, but i think i can do it :)

coke Thanks bro, my quad genetics are crazy. Think im related to tom platz, im scared what theyd look like if i trained them lol

Chest and Bi's (13/2/06)

DB Bench: LT = 40kg (90lbs) x 8, 7.5
TT = 40kg (90lbs) x 6,5

Incline bench: LT = 70kg (154lbs) x 10
TT = 72.5kg (160lbs x 10, 10)

Chins: LT = 5,5,4
TT = BW + 2.5kg (5.5lbs) x 5, 5

DB Curl: LT = 14kg (30lbs) x 30
TT = 16kg (35lbs) x 26

Coke Thanks for the suppor :) When i trained my legs it was always Squats: 1 heavy set of 10, then an even heavier set between 4-6 reps

Then SLDL's 2 sets of 6-8. That was it, threw in calf work every other week. Made sure i stretched the hell out of the quads and hams.

Risk cheers for the props, support is always appreciated :)

I totally agree ry, personally i think Kanye is a dick! I read an interview the other day saying he should of been in the Bible...wtf?! He's cocky, arrogant etc...

I thought his first album was good, second album was pretty poor in my opinion. Only reason im going is because the chick im with digs him.

Its really unclear who's opening, ive heard Keisha Cole, Common, but i think theyre just rumours.

If you ever get a chance to see Flypside play go see them, they supported the Game last summer and the ticket price was worth their performance alone :)

Kanye gives a great show based on his unplugged performance on TV...he does go completely overboard when he quotes to the press but I wonder how much of it is a performance. His second CD was good but a little uneven if U know what I mean - looking forward to hearing what U will say about the show, ask him to sign some t-shirts, lol - :D

Overrated...I was so dissapointed.

Definately my first and last Kanye concert, alot of things confirmed to me; He loves himself, his ego is 10x bigger than him, he's an ass and his flow is terrible!

The sound/video guy made a few mistakes in the show and instead of dealing with it professionally, he called him out calling him 'Hot dog' and mocking his errors. He forgot his lines in a few tracks, there was like 10mins worth of samples from his tracks that played while he just stood talking to the Dj.

The only thing that held the show together was All Falls Down (previous album) and Jesus Walks (also from old album) the rest of it nearly sent me to sleep!

meh!...

I can completely relate to that comment, but then you've also got to take into account the responsibilities we take on as we grow older.

We've spoken about similar things in relation to this in the past and where it would be nice to do everything humanly possible to reach the goal, factors such relationships mess up the whole equation up.

YBW: Yeah man, im really working on getting my pullup strength moving, hopefully i'll be able to work upto BW x 20, like yours truly.

COKE: Thanks again big guy, you really are an inspiration in both what you have achieved/acheiving and your words really hit home, one of the soundest guys ive ever known, im sure in real life your even sounder!

Franco: Nothing Random?! lol :D We're definately on the same wavelength bro. This weekend i aired my feelings to her, not something id usually do with a women so early in a relationship, but i think there is something there that is worth carrying on.

So...I planted a seed....not what your thinking lol! Ive taught her about training and diet, hopefully i can get her to catch the bug...i think it will because i have a way of convincing people to do things :)

I dont think ive ever met a women with a metabolism so fast, so im thinking we will see results pretty rapid and it will move from there, wish me luck!!!

Monday im starting a plan to lose 16lbs of fat in 60 Days (The time before i head out to Los Angeles) I dont know if its possible but if the weight goal isnt achieved, my secondary goal of a 33" waist will (currently 35")

Too bad I'll miss you while you are here in the states, I'm sure you can reach either goal by the visit to Cali.

Thanks for the support guys :) You definately help drive me on to achieve what im after....

Well Started on an EC-A Cycle, i forgot how good this stuff is, no cravings, energy is off the scale and im in a constant good mood :) My cals have come down to 2500 (workout days) 2200 (off days) I'll play it by the scale in the first few weeks, if i drop weight too fast then i'll increase the cals.

Im aiming for 2x HIIT sessions per week and 2-3 steady state cardio sessions on top of my 2 weights sessions.

Workout A 4/4/06

Chins = BW 100kg (222lbs) x 6,6,6

CGB- paused = 80kg (176lbs) 10 x 3reps

**Dropped the weight so i could get some gaining momentum, form was picture perfect**

Single Arm EZ Bar Curl = 15kg (33lbs) x 10, 10 (Each Arm)

**New Exercise - Its a Charles Poliquin reccomendation, its a great exercise! Control is a big issue and its the first time ive felt my biceps crying for years!**

DB Overhead Press (LT = 22kg x 10,10) TT = 22kg (48lbs) x 12,12

Laundry Bag Tri Extension = 10kg (22lbs) x 10,10

**Your probably wondering WTF! lol, but it works wonders, basically i use a strong laundry bag, place a weight in the bottom and do my extensions. Theres no stress on the elbows and it feels very similar to using cables, my tri's are killing me now!**

Felt weak as a girl, but i tried out some new exercises and will build up the numbers over the coming weeks :)

**Oh Eric the LBS conversions are for you :p

I'm in the same boat with trying new movements and what not, all numbers will surely rise...being too creative for your own good with them laundry bag extensions for the triceps, lol - j/k, good stuff bro.

lol! bit harsh guys :P

Workout B:

Chins: BW (221lbs) +5kg (11lbs) x 10 x 3

DB Bench (close grip) 40kg (85lbs) x 3, 30kg (65lbs) x 10

DB Row: 40kg (85lbs) x 15,15

BB Overhead Press (paused) 70kg (150lbs) x 2, 50kg (110ls) x 10

DB Curl: 20kg (45lbs) x 10, 16kg (34lbs) x 23

Not bad, improved some areas (chins) and not others, Overhead press and curls.

Curls are really frustrating me, i get to the 45lbs mark and i struggle like hell to break past that barrier, then when im through, the next weight up is nigh on impossible. I need a resolution..

I like low volume, but when i used to think about my old training style, lots of sets and bodypart per day, those days were awsome (shame i didnt get results from it!) now i train 2x per week and the rest of the time im frustrated because im not in the gym...

Hey guys, training has been good havent really had much time to post, yup lady issues. I ended it today, hardest **** ive done in a long time, felt like i just killed a baby kitten :( Remind me never to do relationships, one night stands are so much easier and painless!

Ill get back to posting workouts, being the habitual worrier i am, i keep questioning what im doing and whether its worth it...After reading Vince Taylors training and eating strategy (he's 50yrs old) i feel like this isnt the sport for me, maybe i should take up tennis?!
