Just a heads up, I just saw a commercial for this junk while flipping through the channels. Next Thursday night, I think 9pm central time.

From the commercial, there is a gay guy on a cycle and he is in the parking lot all pissed off and he says "I'm going to roid rage all over those guys." Also saw they will have someone who died taking steroids also, a teenager most likely. The True Life stories are normally pretty good IMO.

I'm sure they will give steroids a bad name, just like they did with that Jersey Shore show.

I liked the show on real life I'm a bodybuilder, but that was centered on a natural competitor.

LOL yeah when I saw the commercials I kinda rolled my eyes. I know pretty much nothing about steroids but I know that MTV and the guy on the show still probably know less than I do.

I wonder if they'll show someone who actually knows what they're doing. I mean god forbid that they show steroids in good light LOL

I wonder how the legalities of the show was worked out. Were those kids outside the US?

d'Anconia
01-08-2006, 11:28 AM
Well the fact that (I'm sure) they'll show steroids in a negative way will probably keep the DEA (or whatever bureau enforces prohibition of steroids) from busting the guys in it. I don't know exactly how strict the government is on steroids though.

MTV is basically the worst channel on TV... I may watch it just to see this flop though.

I think it would be funny if this show featured that jockey from the true life show they did last summer. He was a scrawny guy and was trying to gain muscle but said he was only capable of eating like 1 egg mcmuffin and a protein shake for his entire food intake in a day. Now we'll see him turn to steroids since he "just can't gain weight".

WBBIRL
01-08-2006, 01:42 PM
Its funny really, steriods are portraid pretty badly for nothing else but a bad misconception. I dont use them, probably never will... but it just seems like their not as bad as everyone want's you to believe. I view them the same as wrist wraps, a bench shirt or a squat suit (the only difference being that the wraps, shirt, and suit have no long term effects on your body... im not so sure about steriods).

I think its pretty dumb, but then look at the type of people who love MTV. I started calling it Empty TV.

I thought that guy was dumb as a rock. He was saying how he's more than just a meathead, that he's got depth and personality. Later in the show he's explaining how he's working on his GLUTNUS maximus.

I just thought that was funny.

I did like the other perfect body episode with the strongman/powerlifter, though.

Wonder if this'll be any better than the 'True life: I'm a gun owner' that featured a gangbanger who was arrested for illegal posession, and some moron who took her carry piece into a bar...

that was pathetic. the flamer was a complete moron. the model guy was also an idiot. judging by the weights he was lifting after his cycle he's never heard of pct. the mma fighter i can actually understand if his training was really wearing him down.

the dumbest guy on the show, though, had to be model guy's "nutritionist". he's basically selling gear out of his shop and he goes on the show, shows his face, and where he works. could you be any dumber?

I was flipping channels and came across that show and I just knew I had to come here to read the thread that there was surely to be about it.

It was about as I expected. I guess I can give them a slight bit of credit for at least airing some positives. Of course I thought the whole death thing, although very sad was a bit off the wall blaming steroids.

Ya, whenever I hear Gideon Whatever his name is doing the voice over I know its going to be *****ty. I think I will beat him if I ever meet him. Oh, wow must be the steroids talking.

Here is my take:

Model Guy: Good build, but not cover material. I think there are at least 20 guys in my gym, in better condition. Also granted he's not a powerlifter, but he talked a lot about being strong and his lifts weren't that heavy. Couldn't believe that guy was injecting him in the store, but even more weird was the really, really old guy injecting him.

Fighter Guy: Think he was cycling for recovery, not for BB reasons. Guy didn't really bother me, but he had no reason getting married to that girl. He didn't even like her, as you could tell by the way he talked to her. BTW, she was hideous, not sure what you guys were looking at.

Gay Guy: Terrible self esteem issues and should not being using steroids. NEver saw him eat only smoking and drinking. Way to tax that system. Also I'm not gay, but I worked at a gay bar for a bit and that had to be the ugliest gay bar ever, it was like a scene out of Star Wars. No wonder he won the competition.

That kinda sets my BS detector off. The guy was 224 and ripped. His legs were lagging but he was in phenomenal shape. Is your gym in LA/NY/FLA?

NC. Maybe 20 is BS, but 10 definetly and another 10 just as good. He looked very smooth to me, but his pics looked good. I can walk in the gym tomorrow at noon and there will be 2 guys better then him. I go in at 5pm and there will be 5 better then him. I don't think he is phenomenal, but very good shape (good beach condition).

Also how did he go from driving an old Taurus to driving a Crossfire overnight?

Hahaha, I thought the same damn thing.

As per his physique, phenomenal was probably a bad choice of words. I remember thinking to myself that he looked kind of thin for 224; how tall do you think he was? Anyway, his chest and arms definitely overshadowed the rest of his body, and I don't think I remember seeing him doing anything other than chest or bicep exercises.

I'd say at least 6ft. His nutritionist, errr supplier tells him legs, shoulders and obliques, when asked what he needs to work on. Nice way of telling him, tighten up your diet. IMO his legs were very smooth, but who knows at what point he was at. Also at first I thought the nutritionist was the same guy who was the trainer for "I want the Perfect Body."

model boy looked ok. good chest and arms, but no back and weak legs. typical curl jockey material. i was also wondering how he got the car. must have been the old man that was injecting him at the beginning. i'm sure he was just a "family friend", more like his sugar daddy.

i thought it was funny that out of these three dip****s the only one that could stick himself was the flamer. and he was hitting the top center part of his quad, just like sugar daddy was going for the middle of the glute (very close to the sciatic). hilarious.

Also how did he go from driving an old Taurus to driving a Crossfire overnight? It was probably a rental.

The whole show was stupid. Even the guy who wanted to be a model was stupid. He was a curl jockey with a ****ty back and no legs. All we saw him do were curls and the pec dec. I'm guessing his nutritionist's shop was closed since he had his pants around his ankles. Kind of a controlled situation. Although the guy was an idiot for showing his face. It wouldn't be that hard to track him down.

The gay guy was the biggest idiot. That and putting on a few pounds still isn't going to change the fact that he was ugly.

One thing that pissed me off was the main people talking about potential side effects were the fighter's girlfriend and that gay guys buddy. Two people that clearly know nothing about steriods. Talking about roid rage and how you're going to die if you take them. Just spreading more BS. Heaven forbid they get somebody on the show that explains the people who experience major side effect or kill themselves are idiots that don't know what they're doing. It's just like any OTC drug. You can mess yourself up if you don't take the stuff right.

People will always be quick to point the finger at steriods. I doubt this will every change.

The entire show was stupid, 100% what I thought it would be.

Cover Boy - Guy was big, but did we ever see him squat or do ANYTHING other then the pec deck ( I think thats what he was doing when he said about them building him a new machine ), and the one thing where he said I could do 4 plates when I was using... I was like WTF. Its like they WANT you to think 1 or 2 cycles gets you teh huge. He was bigger then average, but way to thickheaded about how he needs the roids. I dont think he was ever cover material, and I dont think he needed gear to get to 235 natural at 10%.

Flamer - I totally disagree with why he's eving doing steriods. We never see him eating and most of his time is spent sitting around smokeing or at the bar. No one will respect him anymore if he weights 15-20lbs more. Once again, MTV trying to portray that you need steriods to get bigger.

Fighter - Kid was just a total meathead all around. If you need gear to train, then your pushing your body harder then you should. Whats he going to do after he gets 5 to 7 fights in a feels warn down. The chick leaving him was a good thing, shes a weight in his MMA career.

A few things that bothered me. Nearly every lift was either a bicep curl or some machine where the weight wasn't free. No sqauts, deads or even BENCHPRESS was done. No other supplements were taken, not protein or creatine... NOTHING. No cardio (even though thats a moot point). One guy made it his point to say that if you can't eat alot then forget about getting big... and even the meal he was preparing wasn't big. The guys trainer/injector saying that his muscles were growing to fast now that he was reaching super human potential, and that he was going to tear one. Did this guy ever watch worlds strongest man... the lamer was bicep curling 115lbs and he had superhuman strenght ROFL.

Just a good laugh for all of us... and I think a few people on this site are quite bigger then any of those guys were.

Mtv's True Life episode.

Duration: 42:47

Video Links

Part One: http://rapidshare.de/files/10950056/...t_One.wmv.html
Part Two: http://rapidshare.de/files/10951007/...t_Two.wmv.html

Your links don't work. You need to paste the entire link in. It looks like a lot of it got cut off in the "..." part.

Also can anyone post a link to the true life bodybuilding episode? I can't find it on MTV's website.

I haven't seen MTV since...oh, when I was in high school.

I kinda miss the old MTV just from reading this thread. Back then, it was all music, all the time.

LOL your not missing anything if you didn't see the Im on steriods episode. Its everything you thought it would be... a bunch of menstral 180LB curl jockeys with massive egos.

Watch Ronnie Colemans: The Cost of Redemption if you wana see a good BB flick.

I caught the last 20min of the steroids show today...

The fighter's physique was horrendous, and I agree his girl wasn't that hot.

The gay guy was a COMPLETE moron. He was an emotional wreck to begin with, and when he said "the steroids were controlling my mind," I started cackling. His physique was also complete ****, and he lacked anything resembling a back.

The model guy had a pretty good physique, although I didn't see his legs. I didn't get to ses the first 40min, but I'd wager that the produces don't know enough about lifting, diet, or steroids to portray an accurte picture of how they were being used even on this show. The model didn't appear to be the sharpest knife as it is, but for someone to give an accurate picture of healthy use, they'd have to be VERY controlling about what was and wasn't shown in the final product. That clearly wasn't the case. They just let MTV do what it does best, which is wrp young minds with its agenda.

I did like the other perfect body episode with the strongman/powerlifter, though.
Yeah, that was pretty ace. That PL was huge for his age.

THe chick ended up being pretty decent as well :)

The roid special was kinda bad though. 6/10 maybe, only for the extra filler scenes they added.

Everything about it was stupid. Most of them didn't even do their own injections-or even know what they were taking. The model guy kept bitching about his bicep injury and he wonders why-he went into the gym everyday and did a thousand sets of curls going heavier each time.

I mean come on, it's a ****ing steroid special and you don't even put ONE bodybuilder on it, give me a break. I'd like to blow up mtv.

I like that they used a natural kid for that show. He was from NJ and competing in the NYC Natural. I hope they don't mess us the steroid show, but I think it will be as bad as the jersey shore show.

LMAO...that show was so lame.

LMAO...that show was so lame.

It was great for laughs, especially when that guy acted like he was connected and ran the town. "Do you know who you're giving a ticket to, you won't ever work down here again". I didn't know construction workers carried so much weight.

This should clear things up

Everyone,

I'm the 'Cover Guy' from Boca Raton who was featured on the show last night, and I just wanted to address some things, because the people on this forum seem knowledgeable about the issue at hand.

First, my motivation for doing the show was to positively portray steroid use as opposed to abuse. I am appalled at what is going on within Congress and within this country where normal users are demonized as criminal. I was highly impressed with the HBO Real Sports Segment featuring John Romano, and wanted to convey a similar viewpoint.

After seeing the show, I am fairly pleased with how I was represented, but disapppointed in certain regards. You have to understand that they had 40 hrs of footage that they had to make into 12 or 13 minutes of actual footage. Let me say that again -- 40 hrs of raw footage into 12 or 13 min of actual footage. A daunting job to say the least.

So much of what was cut was me ranting against John McCain and his ilk. Me talking about the difference between use and abuse. Me mentioning post-cycle protocol like HCG and Clomid, Me explaining that someone shouldn't even think about using anabolics unless they've trained naturally for years, Me explaining about how I feel it is my decision to make, not the governments if I want to enhance my body, Me showing them blood-work that showed that my liver, kidneys and cholesterol were all in check, etc, etc, but I think they weren't looking for such detailed information like that -- they just wanted drama and that gay dude in Orlando surely provided that for them. (What a ****in' joke he was, by the way)

Some other things to clear up -- they portrayed it like I was attempting to gain the cover of Muscle & Fitness, which was not the case. I realize that at 6'2" 225 lbs with high lats, I would need to go to at least 240/250 shredded for a cover as prestigious as M & F. My goal was the fitness magazine all throughout the process. Darrem Charles trains at my gym, so I know that I'm not in his league in the least.

Also, towards the end of the piece, they portrayed it like I had 'lost' everything - cue melancholy music - which was simply not the case. Sure, I've lost some strength, but I've maintained about 90% of my gains due to HCG, Clomid and Nolvadex (which I used both during the cycle and post-cycle). Yesterday, I weighed in at 224 lbs, which is exactly what I weighed in during the show when they filmed me weighing myself. After coming off of test, I continued on GH for a few months, and now have just relied on NO-Xplode, Ntrix and Cell Masss to retain a good portion of my gains. Along with eating 6 to 8x a day. I'll probably try to hold around 225 naturally, and then do another cycle to see if I can get to 240 or 250.

When I moved to Boca, I was 200 lbs, and got to 230 using anabolics. Without touching a weight, I would be 175 or 180 lbs. I was taking a test blend (cyp, prop, enanthate), anavar, halitest, gh (mixed with insulin), and winstrol towards the end preceeding the shoot. I also did lasix before the shoot as well.

Another pet peeve is that I explained the purpose behind each of the components in my cycle and specifically what each one would do. None of that made it into the segment however. Cliff, who counsels an IFBB pro, also went into much more specifics that never made the show. He even diagrammed exactly what certain substances would be doing for the cameras - it was like a science class, lol, but alas none of that saw the light of day. When he was speaking, they would keep telling him 'dumb it down' a bit, because people watching MTV wouldn't understand his explanations.

With regard to people saying that I only train with cables, and the like, that simply isn't the case either. They only showed a small percentage of the training stuff that they shot. Again, 40 hrs into 12 mins. The reason that I use the Hammer Strength for bench is a nagging rotator cuff that flares up when I do free-weigh bench, but I mainly use free weights and compound movements. I'm not the strongest guy in the world, but not the weakest either. I leg press 8 plates on each side, stack the pec deck ( as you all saw ), stack the leg extension, use the 60 lb dumb-bells for curls, do single-arm dumb-bell rows with 110 lb dumb-bells. I'm sure some of you will write in and say that you do a lot more, and I'm sure some of you do, but I'm not chopped liver either.

In my opinion, the show would have been much better off if it had the ultimate fighter guy and myself, and nixed the gay psycho guy. I think it would have been better served if they would have had say Wadler the ant-steroid fascist face off against the doctor featured on the HBO Real Sports segment. I cannot recall his name, but I'm sure most of ou know who I am referring to. But again, I think this would have bored most of their viewers who would have rather watched the 'excitement' of someone 'ODing' on tylenol. What a ****in' clown that guy was. It almost felt like to me he took the Tylenol to spice up the True Life episode. 'I know if I fake a suicide, it'll look cool for TV.' Did anyone else feel this way?

I feel for the parents who lost their son, but to me they are so off-base. It would be akin to me going to Tennessee drinking moon-shine, committing suicide, and then having my parents go in front of Congress and demanding the BAN of ALL alcohol. Utterly ridiculous. Steroid withdrawal?!? Steroid withdrawal?!? They had to be joking. I hope I don't come off as too harsh, because they lost a son and everything, but give me a ****in' break.

I'm not really around on message boards too much, but I wanted to post here, and clear things up just a bit. I feel that it is incumbent upon all of us to fight for our right to choose what we do with our bodies, not have the decision foisted upon us. Anyways, to everyone, stay healthy, stay strong!

-Peter from Boca

Hey, props to the guy. I wouldn't brag about taking NO or 8PPS on the leg press at his weight and training experience, but other than that I didn't really have a problem with him. He had a great, pre-steroid natty physique. I'd kill for it.

That was quota from another site, I should have noted that. It was from MuscleMayhem.com forum.

It's simple.

You tell someone not to do it.. then they blatantly throw it right back - just to prove that they've got the power and can play by their own rules.

Too bad their theory doesn't pan out.

This was personally sent to me by the gay guy after I sent him an email advising him that if he were to properly research his cycles ahead of time, he'd fare much better.

All you straight guys are ****ing idiots and should research the show. I did it for the money bro. I never ordered off the internet. But we have to say that because that's how teens are ordering it. BTW, thanks for watching. I ratings are high and went through the roof. I'll be laughing to the bank. Sorry you're jealous bro. Oh, I'll be on mtv again. Thanks for the ratings dude.
