Don't worry about one lousy push session Eric. The way you've been progressing you'll be right back there next session. Keep up the good work bro.

One crappy push session is no biggie, dude, I'm sure you'll do better next time :) Keep working hard

Don't worry, bro. I had a forgettable chest day, too.

It must have been something in the air.

Of course, you're in Lewiston, right? There's ALWAYS something in the air down there.

Wow, its been a VERY long time since the last entry. Slacking in that department lately.

Bunch of **** has been going on since the beginning of the month but i have kept on training and it has been going very well. The diet has been ****ty for a couple weeks and ai gained a couple of pounds (prob water and what not) but has been steady since that initial gain. I still plan on cutting some more fat off me, but I want to take it easy for another week or two till my head clears - been a roller coaster ride.

I did get the 4x5 with the 230 BB BP!! Will be moving up this week to 235. Chins are feeling strong as well as the BO DB Rows. Will update everything soon!!!

My bike is in transit!! Should be at the dealer by Memorial day then they have to check it out and all that fancy stuff before i accept delivery. So i dont think i will get it for memorial day weekend (there is a slight chance) but i will have it by the 30th for sure.

missed you guys and gals....

Borris - I may be up in Bangor on the 30th for a little while during the day. Some gal im dating is going to do the prom thing with her sister who is a senior in HS up there (nails hair dress - girly stuff). If it does happen we should get a session in or something - at least some 12oz curls...

Hey bro, good to see you back. I thought you'd left us.

Nice job on 230! That bench is coming up!

I'd be down for either a workout or a 12oz session, or both, on the 30th. Let me know what's up.

Justin – Thanks man. Missed you guys. WBBB reunite!!

HY –Yeah its been way to fuken long. Been crazy at work and working out of the office so updates have been near extinction. Progress is going very well thanks…

CoCoa – Hey man thanks for the concern. Everything is cool!!!

Borris – I wont leave – this place is worse then heroin. The bench is going up nice (see last nights workout). I am not 100& about the 30th yet but I will keep you posted for sure – that would be sweet.

Mik – Thanks man!!

Kenn – Yeap still pushing the iron around!! Gotta have some sort of therapy. Thanks.

5/14/2003 Cut is paused

PULL

Chins = BW+25lbs*10,*9,*8.5, bw*11
Up 5lbs and hit 10 reps on the first set. The last couple of weeks these have been shooting up. I love it – 5 more lbs next week!!!

DB BO Row = 65*10, 125*10, 125*10
Form is great. Exercise feels great. Need to get some longer DB bars though – dammit. Been at this weight for a couple of weeks – form is dam near perfect – still back/legs – pull with the elbow.

BO DB Rear Delt Raises = 45*12, 45*12
I am happy with this – been at this weight for a couple of weeks now but a PB since the last time I posted a PULL day.

Standing EZ Bar Curls = 70*10, 95*6, dropped to 60*12
Not bad – been stuck at 6 reps for a couple of weeks, im not to concerned with progression with this movement as long as everything else is getting better im hunky dory.

DIET

Eat whatever I want for the most part – not being a pig though.

5/19/2003 Cut is paused

PUSH

Cubans EZ Curl Bar = 25lbs*15, 25*15
Doing these to warm up the shoulders. Nothing special

Seated External Rotations = 10lbs *10, 10*10
Again, warming up the shoulders. Nothing special

BB Flat Bench = 135*10, 165*5, 235*5*5*5*4+1
It took me a couple of weeks to get the 230 up – prob some mental/personal issues. This is the first week with the 235 and I was sooo close to getting 4*5. The last rep I held it half way up for about 3 real seconds. Dam

Seated Overhead BB press (no back support) = 85*10, 130*6, 105*10
Been stuck at 6 reps with the heavy set for a couple of weeks. So this is a PB tie.

Plate Loaded Cable Pushdowns = 50*10, 105*10, 105*9.5
Progress was made the past couple of weeks in reps. More weight is needed in the middle set next week!!

Lateral Raises, arms fully extended, slow reps = 22.5*12*3sets
Tie PB. Been at this for a couple of weeks now. Its feeling much more comfortable – I will add some next week.

DIET

Eat whatever I want in moderation.

MISC

Life has been treating me pretty decent as of the last week or so. My mindset hasn’t been better. Think its due to the break in the diet and some other shiat that I am not gonna get into at this time…

WEIGHT

183lbs

5/20/2003 Cut is paused

PULL

Chins = BW+30lbs*8,*7,*5.5, bw*12
Up 5lbs but the reps were nothing to write home about, better next week. The 12 bw reps felt sweet though!

DB BO Row = 65*10, 125*10, 125*10
Again, feels great. My pink that I fuked up playing basketball 4 moths ago is still being a pain in the arse. I think I did more then "jam" it - cant fully estend the finger nor can i make it into a fist like the others. oh well.

BO DB Rear Delt Raises = 45*12, 45*12
Not bad, going to add some 2.5s next week.

Standing EZ Bar Curls = 70*10, 95*10, dropped to 60*13
Happy with this. I was stuck at 6 reps for a couple of week. Going to add 5lbs to the heavy set next week.

DIET

Eat whatever I want for the most part – not being a pig though.

Nice workout. Some of your lifts are impressive. I noticed that you only listed upper body push/pull workouts for the past week. Do you also do leg or ab work?

ericg
05-21-2003, 09:29 AM
Brad - thanks man. everything seems to be looking great right now.

aka23 - I knew someone would ask. Yeah i have been keeping up with the legs/ab work. the last couple of weeks i have been going to the Y to hit my legs and abs (workout at home) with a friend on saturdays. I write my notes down on his log since i forgot mine both times....I will have to write a sticky not form myself so i can remember to post the old lifts. This week I will be hitting legs/abs at my house so it wont be a problem - THURS is LEGS. gotta love it. Thanks for checking in man!!!

Yeap, so my journal sucks - lack of consistent updates, my apologies.

Life has been going great these past couple of weeks. I got a new gal in my life and things are wonderful with her. We have been seeing eachother for a month now - very cool.

My bike is awesome, i couldnt have imagined it turning out the way it did. It rides awesome, and turns heads!! I love it. My luck though I already am buying a new rear tire (an Avon 250 - W I D E tire) cuz i picked up a nail in it. Ever since then the weather has been awesome to ride while my bike waits for a new tire (will get it back by Friday). Will post some pics of it when i get it back.

Been slacking with the workouts for two weeks - back at it last night though and had a killer session...

6/16/2003 Cut is paused

PULL

Chins = BW+30lbs*10,*8,*6, bw*10
Not bad here at all. Hit 10 reps with 30lbs - like that alot. Will add 5lbs next week.

DB BO Row = 65*10, 125*10, 125*10
Form was sweet and reps with the 125 felt like then flew up - i was suprised but very happy!! think i may throw some lbs on next week.

BO DB Rear Delt Raises = 47.5*12, 47.5*12
Nice job here. This is the 2nd time I have done this weight and it felt decent. Struggled a bit at the end though

Standing EZ Bar Curls = 70*10, 105*5, dropped to 60*12
OK here. Nothing to write home about. The weight is the heaviest I have used since, no. of reps suck though.

DIET

Eat whatever I want for the most part – not being a pig though. Trying to clean it up. Weight has stayed stead at 183lbs +-

Borris - Have no fear my back has been progressing far more then my chest. Bench has been at a stand still now. I have PUSH tonight so you can see how much of a wuss I am tomorrow. Thanks for checking in!! Glad to be back

ericg

Mik - Glad to be back. I love back day - prob cuz the progression is goign so well - my bench is another story - lack of consistency though...

HY - Yeah the weather up here has been aweful these past couple of months. The gal thing is going great - she is a keeper for sure.

6/19/2003

PUSH

Cubans EZ Curl Bar = 25lbs*15
Doing these to warm up the shoulders. Nothing special

Seated External Rotations = 10lbs *10
Again, warming up the shoulders. Nothing special

BB Flat Bench = 135*10, 165*5, 240*3, 225*4*3*2
Well this totally sucked. I didnt have a spotter though and when i tried for the 5th rep at 240 i got stuck for w while and had to fuken roll the dam bar down my chest. I hate this **** - not my first time, but oh well im still alive. So i dropped the weight some and it still sucked arse - its been 16 days since the last time I benched. No excuses, that is all i have on this.

Seated Overhead BB press (no back support) = 85*10, 115*9, 105*10
No spotter again so i went down a bit with the lbs - not to bad.

Plate Loaded Cable Pushdowns = 50*10
Just one set, I was running late so i cut it short.

Lateral Raises, arms fully extended, slow reps = 22.5*12
Same as the pushdowns.

DIET

Eat whatever I want in moderation. Cleaning it up.

PS - legs will be done Friday afternoon OR Saturday morning.

Isaac Wilkins
06-19-2003, 01:18 PM
Nice benchin', foo!

You might want to try a more gradual progression. 165 to 240 is a big jump at that weight.

Maybe throw a couple of reps at 205 in. It shouldn't tire you too much, but it'll give you a better neurological progression.

ericg
06-19-2003, 02:41 PM
Mik - Thanks man! I just need to keep at it and it will come all together. Thanks again.

CoCoa - Thanks for the props!

Borris - Thanks, I was thinking about the progression thing for a couple of weeks now. It is a big jump, will give it a shot. What do you think of lowering the 165 to 3 reps, then hit a couple at 195lbs - then 4 sets all out of 240?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Eric, do you use clamps when you bench? I bench alone (at my home) too . Just leave them clamps off . I get stuck all the time. :D Just slide the weights off. Make sure they *can* slide off first. Rolling down your chest hurts!

Isaac Wilkins
06-19-2003, 06:55 PM
Yeah, I'd say a triple at 165 and a triple at 195 should do you for warmups. Then four sets at 240.

JustinF
06-20-2003, 05:54 AM
Nice session bro. I'm envious of your work schedule. Three day weekend every weekend? Nice!

ericg
06-23-2003, 05:53 AM
HY - You gotta love the 3 day weekends!!!

Stabber - Yeah I should know this since i have been stuck before. Just wasnt really thinking about it at the time - the clip idea is a good one. Much rather crash the weights then roll the f'n bar down my chest again.

Borris - Cool man, I am gonna give it a shot tonight and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice.

Justin - Thanks man. Yeah the work schedule is awesome. I love it. The weeks fly by now. Thanks again.

Nothing much to report about this weekend. I did get my bike back on friday and had a nice ride home so that was sweet. I rode a lot on Saturday and went out Saturday night - was a good time. My GF is such a fun person to be with - always has a positive outlook and is beautiful all around. We can sit there all night and just talk about anything and everything - never really had this with someone that I have feelings for. I didnt do much on Sunday - slept in and then go caught in the fuken rain while on my bike. That is all for now...

PUSH

Cubans EZ Curl Bar = 25lbs*12, 25*10
Doing these to warm up the shoulders. Nothing special

Seated External Rotations = 10lbs *10. 10*10
Again, warming up the shoulders. Nothing special

BB Flat Bench = 135*10, 165*3, 195*3, 240*4*4*3*3
Much better session than last week for sure. I warmed up a bit different (added the 195 set) and it seemed to work well - that set felt light as fuk, I can remember when i strugled to lift it off the bench. Had a PB with the 240 wich is cool!!

Seated Overhead BB press (no back support) = 85*10, 130*7, 105*10
Not bad. One rep more then my previous PB so it shows some improvement. Felt good.

Plate Loaded Cable Pushdowns = 50*10, 115*7, 110*7
Nothing special here.

Lateral Raises, arms fully extended, slow reps = 22.5*12, 22.5*12, 22.5*12
Felt good. Think I will add another 2.5lb plate to each DB next week.

Overall it was a decent session. No complaints.

PULL

Chins = BW+30lbs*10,*7,*6, bw*8
Not bad.

DB BO Row = 65*10, 125*10, 125*10
Decent. Reps went up pretty well.

BO DB Rear Delt Raises = 47.5*12, 47.5*12
Last couple of reps were difficult.

Standing EZ Bar Curls = 70*10, 100*5, dropped to 60*5
Totally sucked. I was dead.

DIET

Sucks.

MISC

Been tired as hell lately. It sucks big time. Prob due to my ****ty eating and lack of sleep? I need to sleep more and clean up my freaking diet. I was so tired during this session I prob should have taken a damn nap instead.

Yeah I have been a BAD boy. Dam me. I need a slap in the face.

Had a pretty good week though. Went to see a play for the first time in my life. I have sen plays put on by highschools before but not "professionals". We saw Jekel and Hyde and it was fuken awesome.

Days have been kinda busy with work and lack of sleep which is really kicking my ass right now - big time. I will get back into the swing of things soon.

Dam this thing has shiat the bed.

I had a full weeks worth of workouts this week (so far, legZ are tonight).

Monday = some lighter bench, ovhd press, and hit the punching bag for a while

Tues = had a full PULL day: 4 sets of chins, 3 sets of BO DB row, 2 sets of rear delts, 2 sets of curls.

the weights are lighter than what i normally use since its been a while since i have lifted. i am weak - my biceps give up pretty easily but my back is still strong, bench looks like its going to suck arse for a while. i am not anxious to see how my squatting goes :( oh well, it will all come back in due time.

Hey guys - cant get enough of me huh.

Well I have to say that my luck has been pretty ****ty as of late. I did workout last week and lifted a bit yesterday as well.

It seems as though every illness that goes around or that exists enters in my body. I woke up monday morning and my eyes were all ****ed up - very red, itchy, felt like i had sand in my eyes. I looked like i was constantly crying all day long. I have been to the Drs and they said its a "nasty infection". I am not sure how i got it but it is getting better - left eye is cool now, just a bit of irritation in the right eye. So this set me back a bit - I am going to do some PUSH tonight, dont think it will be a full session but i will get the major bulk of it in.

Yesterday I did some chins and some DB BO Rows - felt good, but my eyes didnt.

check out my eyes...

08-27-2003, 06:14 AM
Thanks for the responses

The eye thing is all cleared up now and i also have some glasses on order - i have been wearing contacts since i was 12 so this will be something to get used to. They actually make me look smart!

Anyways...

I had a decent PULL session on monday - here is a very brief breakdown:

chins: bw+30*10, bw*10, bw*9, bw*8
DB BO ROW: 55*10, 105*10, 105*10 - cake
BO DB rear delt: 35*10*2 -cake
EZ bar curls: 80*10*2

was a quick session, not to bad but not heavy either.

Tuesday I went out to eat with Brie to this place that everyone says is awesome, kinda fancy. Well I wouldnt go back - nothing like it is advertised - guess im a meat/potatos or tuna/oats kind of guy. It was a nice night though, relaxed - i was beat from lack of sleep.

On a side note - I will be leaving this Sunday to go to Puerto Rico on vacation!! Should be a good time. On one hand it will be nice to get away, but I will miss Brie dearly.

Fran - thanks x2 man!! will fill you in when i get back.

Well I had some errands to run after work, ate after I was done that and then sat down for a few seconds on the recliner - didnt take my lazy ass long to fall asleep, two hours later I woke up. I guess I was beat - so that ruined the night, but the sleep felt good. Needless to say it was an unproductive night.

Hey guys I am back!!

Puerto Rico was a good time, allowed me some time to relax and take a break from the real world as much as I could. Although I was pretty sick the first two days of the vaca it was a great time. I am glad to be home though. I missed Brie pretty bad.

Anyways, alergy season is FUKEN here and they are killing me, espicially in the beginning of the week - since then i have been taking some meds to clear it up and has worked nicely. I am hoping to get a session in before the weekend and be back at it in full force next week!!

Thanks for the bump Justin.

*cough cough* - Dam you Mik for stirring up the dust.

Yeap so this journal totally sucks, no updates for a while and no workouts for more than a month or two. This makes me sad.

I dont have any excuses for the past couple of weeks - just been a lazy fuken bum. Motivation is LOW, energy has been nonexistent. Some people around me think this could be a medical issue: I drink tons TONS of fluids throughout the day like I always have, but the thing that is different is that I am still fuken thirsty, I mean really thirsty. I drink at least a gallon of water a day and about another gallon of other stuff (icetea, gatorade, juice, milk, soda). I wonder if it could be a medical issue; I checked this medical book that I have and it directed me towards diabetes?? I will have to get myself checked out - bout time for a physical anyways...

Glad you guys keep this freakin thing bumped!! I owe you guys a lot for the little amount of motovation that I do have. Tonight I plan on working out with Brie. It is going to be a full body thing - will hit all the major muscle groups with some compound movements, this is just to get back in the swing of things. So i hope to post a freaking workout tomorrow - dont look for any PRs or anything even close to that cuz I can feel my weakness :(

Thanks again for poppin in guys and gals!!!

Thanks for the responses everyone!!!

Heather Yeah we do kinda have the same "look" but he would tower over my 5'10" 180 frame haha.

So the plan was to hits some weights last night with Brie...So i get to her place and she was up in her room taking a nap, so I snuck up the stairs next to her and laid down (this was about 5:45pm) next thing i know is the phone is ringing and the clock reads 7:45pm - WTF. Took a two hour nap, dam. So we went and got something to eat and a movie.

I have a Dr appointment set for tomorrow at 10:45am. Going to get a physical and also mentioned the thirst, being tired, and all that other crap. So I hope to see if anything is wrong soon.

Thanks for all the posts people!!!

So I went to the Drs today and got a physical and all that good ****. Everything looks good so far, blood pressure is 100/70, heart rate 60bpm, lung/heart sound good. I have to fast for 8hours (stop eating at midnight) and go get my blood drawn tomorrow morning at 8:15. They are going to check my cholesterol (why i need to fast) and also my blood sugar and what not to see if there is a reason (medically) why i am tired. So that is where I stand, she said I could find out the results Firday evening or first thing Monday.

Again thanks for all the responses - you guys/gals are great.

Thanks for the responses guys!!

So I went for blood work early Friday morning and the doctor called me back in the afternoon with the results: I have Type II diabetes. I went there later on to pick up some medication and some reading material. She is sure that i wont have to take insulin injections and that i will be all set with pills. We just brushed on things i have to watch out for on friday. I have another appointment this coming friday and she is going to show me how to check my blood sugar, go over my questions, and just talk about things like diet and what not. I guess she also has me signed up for a class at the hospital. So thats whats going on. Oh, my thyroid is fine, BUT my cholesterol is a bit high: 230 she said it could be due to the diabetes and will just see what happens in a coupld of weeks after i adjust to the medication and other changed from the diabetes.

Other than that things were decent this weekend. I went to watch my nephew play football on Saturday night and he played awesome. He had two incredible TDs receiving, some beautiful hits on defense, and some amazing catches. He is going to be a major contender for the all star team. I taught him every thing he knows!! SO far this year he had 6ints (ran back 2 for TDs), 2 blocked punts, 3 TDs on offense. Thier team isnt known for passing the ball (cuz the QB isnt accurate) so he is doing pretty well considering.

Went out to a club saturday night and had a wonderful time!

That is all for now.

Isaac Wilkins
09-29-2003, 07:18 AM

Borris - yeah i wonder how long i have had it. now that i know what all the symptoms are i can look back a couple years and wonder if i had it then? Oh well i know whats going on and will just roll with the punches. thanks for the reply.

Fuzz - Thanks man!! I wonder how they determine how I have type 1 or 2. Ive looked to see the typical thpe 2 case and i dont fit it at all - not in my family history, im not overweight, not over 40... So I am going to make sure the Dr knows that its type 2 and not type 1.

Justin - Yeah I need to get back in the groove and soon. This is the kick in the ass that i needed.

I did so some light lifting last night with Brie. Did a couple sets of BB Bench, Squats, Chins, OVHD Press. I know I am going to be very dissapointed in the strength loss from all this slack time.

Haha, there will be none of that fellas

I wasnt in the office yesterday - i had a couple of Doctor appointments to go to so i just took the day off. Went to see the nutritionalist and she set up some guidelines to follow to get my blood sugar where it needs to be - i think i impressed her a bit with the knowledge that i have about food and how they effect the body (props to WBB). I have another Dr appt tomorrow where they will show me how to check my blood sugar and tell me when to check it and what not.

Anyways, went lap swimming Tuesday night at the local gym - that was a decent time. Nothing else to write about so i am off for now...

PUSH

BB Flat Bench = 115*10, 165*5, 215*1, 195*5*5*4*1 :(
No spotter today. I am so pissed off at how weak I am compared to where I was a couple months ago when I was pushing 240.

Seated Overhead BB press (no back support) = 85*8, 85*6, 85*4
WOW again im weak. My tris were shot think thatˇ¦s what was holding me back.

Plate Loaded Cable Pushdowns = 50*10, 80*10, 80*8
Weak.

Lateral Raises, arms fully extended, slow reps = 20*8, 20*8, 15*12
Weak.

DIET

7:30am - Blood Sugar = 217:( : whey, .5c oats

2:00pm - Blood sugar = 247:( : 1.5can tuna, light mayo, odwalla bar

4:45pm : .75can tuna, light mayo

7:00pm : 10oz milk, whey

9:30pm : 10oz chicken breadcrumb batter, 2 pickles, 2 small bites of lasagna, apple

MISC

So far my blood sugar isnt looking to good. I am taking medication for it (have been since i was diagnosed and I am still above the goal level of 70-150mg/DL (before my first meal). So I am not sure what is going to happen with that. The Dr gave me some stronger stuff this past Friday so I will see what happens in a couple more days. I think the next step is insulin.

Workout pretty much sucked. It did feel good to be down there throwing some weight around again, even if most women and children could run circles around me.

Form was great, should be since its 20lbs less than what i have done before, I was pushing it at the end - last couple of reps were difficult.

BO DB Rear Delt Raises = 35*12, 35*12
BLAH.

Standing EZ Bar Curls = 60*10, 80*4, 60*6
Sucked, bis felt like they were shot.

PUSH

BB Cubans = 20*10*2
Just to warm up the shoulders

Seated External Rotations = 10*10*2
Another shoulder warmup

BB Flat Bench = 115*10, 165*5, 195*5*4*3*2 :(
No improvement really BLAH.

Seated Overhead BB press (no back support) = 65*10, 85*10, 85*10
Decent improvement in reps here: 4 reps on second set, 6 reps on the last set - bumping the last two sets up next week.

Plate Loaded Cable Pushdowns = 50*10, 80*10, 80*10
Up two reps on the last set - bump it up next week.

Lateral Raises, arms fully extended, slow reps = 20*12, 20*9, 20*9
Up 4 reps on the first set, 1 on the second set, moved up on the third set for one more rep. My shoulders are so weak - they look decent but they really just blow goats.

DIET

7:30am - Blood Sugar = 199:( : whey, .5/8c oats

7:15pm : 10oz milk, whey (post train)

9:30pm : popcorn

12:00am : 1 slice wheat bread, 4 slices turkey

MISC

So this past Saturday I went to the local Y and hit the legs - I didnt bring any notes with me but I did do some Squats, SLDLs, smith calves, and some weighted crunches.

I had to bring Brie to the emergency room very early Monday morning (3am) because she was having some very sharp stomach pains. So they did a bunch of testing and what not and found out that she had a cyst on her ovary that ruptured and there is really nothing they can do except give her something for the pain – which she refused. She is a tough gal! Anyways, we didn’t get out of there until 9:15am so we slept until 7pm. Then that night I couldn’t get to sleep, cuz I just woke up haha – needless to say I went to bed sometime past 3am on Tuesday and got up at 6am to head to work. That made for a lovely day.

My blood sugar is still very high so i called the Dr and she said to double the dose on the meds im taking (take two/day instead of one) and give it another week or so. Next Friday (10/24) I am seeing a diabetic specialist, I will be sure to pick his/her brain.

BO DB Rear Delt Raises = 35*12, 35*12

Finally bought a freaking DVD player last night, now i can see all those spiffy deleted scenes and what not! Watched the movie "wrong turn" and it was decent - reminded me of a 70s horror flick. Brie had some dinner ready when i got to her place - steak and veggies - yummy. So overall it was a nice night. PUSH later today.

PS - blood sugar is still up around 200, have a Dr appointment this Friday to see what the next step is.

Thanks I guess. I have been a lazy biatch lately. Mostly because I have no ambition as of late to push myself anymore. It sucks, i hope my energy levels increase SOON.

I have lost some weight since i have found out that i got diabetes and they are still trying to get my sugar down to a normal level on a regular basis.

your blood sugar levels is probably affecting your energy, how did you find out you had diabetes? were you tired a lot and had yourself tested for it?

Yeah I think i mentioned all the symptoms i had in a previous post. It was the uncontrolable thirst that i had that made me wonder, than all the other symptoms made sense - blurry vision, irritable, tired...

I have been playing phone tag with the Dr to go over some lab results - hopefully we can track each other down so i can see whats going on.

Well guys/gals now that 2004 is about us and the silly season is over and done with im going to concentrate on getting back on track. As you can see I made some very minor goals for myself for the beginning of next month, these are just goals to get me back on track. As most of you know I am type1 diabetic so i have another reason to push myself in the healthy direction. My sugars have been running around 175 or so first thing in the am so i hope to drop those down to normal with a cleaner die (which starts today).

So today I have started to eat cleaner and Wednesay will be my firts day back as far as training goes. My workout schedule will seem a bit akward, but it allows me to spend more time with Brie and still get my lifting in. The days that I plan of training are Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. One of those days will be cardio, and the others will follow the same split that i was doing before i got all lazy: push, pull, legs. I am going to keep the same movements but will use a 10 rep work set instead of the 4x5 until i get back into the swing of things. I know that i have lost a lot of strength since i have been away and more than likely have lost a fair amount of muscle - due in part by the diabetes, but I plan on getting all of that back, strength and muscle, and then some.

Im looking forward to Wednesday like no other, and I am also looking forward to getting some support from you guys at wbb. Unfortunately I only have access to the web at work, and I also have every friday - sunday off so my workout posts will be a bit delayed (until the following monday for sessions done thursday - sunday). I do plan on posting my diet for each day as well.

That is all for now :)

Mik

Mik - Thanks man, feel free to stop in anytime!

Justin - Glad you stopped by man! We are gonna get in the groove and break some PRs in no time.

Steven - Haha, well when i was first diagnosed by my primary care Dr she said I was type 2, then the diabetic specialist did some more blood work and determined that although my body is still producing some insulin, that i am type 1 and sooner than later i will have to shoot up. It was a confusing mess at first but now i think i have it all straightened out. Now I just have to get my diet back on track to help my sugars and my overall health.

Diet wasnt that bad today. I did some cleaning up after work and thats about it. Oh yeah and this morning Brie's roomate Emily, her cat pissed on the bag that i carry everything to work in. I had clothes, pills, camera, planner, papers, etc. in that bag. I was about ready to kill that little runt. So that made me late for work because i cleaned it all up. ok now let the weakness begin, just for a reminder to myself and all you journal readers out there. my best bench effort was back in May/June when i did 240lbs*4*3*3*3; i was also ovhd pressing 115 or so for 10; and at one point was doing 2 sets of 10 with 110lbs on a plate loaded pushdown.

BB Flat Bench = 115*10, 165*10*9*5*4*3
Haha, I laugh at myself as my tris give out BIG time.

Seated Overhead BB press (no back support) = 65*10, 85*6, 65*10
:((

Plate Loaded Cable Pushdowns = 50*10, 80*7, 80*6.5
More of the same.

M4 - beef sticks, snickers
M5 - detour bar, 12oz milk - post train
M6 - detour bar - post basketball
M7 - PB & J sand (sugar free jelly)

Diet wasnt to bad today except for M4. See below for more details.

MISC

So that was my ****ty session. I feel like i was such a pu*sy in the fact that my numbers have gone down so much. I understand that it has been about 7 months since i trained consistently, but that doesnt justify the fact that i was a lazy fuk. It did feel good to train though, so my attitude is much better.

After I got out of work I went to pay my cell bill at wallmart and was going to pick up a small jug of eas whey (until i can order some at large stuff) but they didnt have any more. So I got a couple of detour bars and since the lines were so fuking long, and i wouldnt be able to eat a decent meal before i trained, i also picked up some beef sticks and a snickers (for the carbs). So basically I was thinking that i would go to wallmart and save time but I actually wasted time.

Thursday is PULL. As usual I have Friday-Sunday off from work so you wont see those sessions until Monday morning.

Thanks for the bump Justin.

I guess this deserves an update of some sort.

Training has been going well eventhough im still weak. My log is at my parents house, where i lift with one of my friends. I am going to staple it to my bald head so i dont forget to bring it to work with me. This way all of you can see my progress.

I worked my legs for the first time in a while yesterday. I followed that with some cardio which will be done again tonight. So my training schedule will look like this.

M- Legs/abs, cardio (at the gym)
T- Cardio (at the gym)
W- Chest/Shoulders/Triceps (at my parents), basketball
Th- Back/biceps (at my parents)
F- Cardio (at the gym)
Sat-off (cardio if im bored)
Sun- Cardio (at the gym)

I also went to signup at the gym the other day with Brie. She is going to start and workout again and wanted me to set something up for her. So now I will have a place to hit my legs hard and also get some NEEDED cardio in. If I can keep this up it will help me tremendously.

Did some cardio yesterday after work. My legs are still burning with some DOMS. Gotta love that.

I think I am going to be training alone this week. My lifting bud pulled a muscle in his back while at work and its creating a sharp pain in his lower back. He went to the Drs last week to get it checked out and they told him to take some time off.

Mon 1/26/04

2 minutes on the bike to warm followed by some stretching

BB Squat 45*10, 135*10, 185*7*7*7 - felt a hell of a lot better this week than last monday. much more comfortable. none of the sets to failure.

SLDLs 45*10, 135*10, 205*7*7 - dam its been WAY to long since i have done these and boy did i feel it. awesome, cant wait to get some plates on the bar.

Seated calf machine 45*12, 100*12, 125*12 - It has been years since i have done these since i usually hit the legs at my house and i dont have a calf machine things there. Felt good.

Seated leg extensions ?*10, 120*10*3sets - Not sure what i had the pin set at on the first set - the weights are listed on the outside of the machine. Felt good.

Well that was short and sweet. I htought it was a decent session, you probably cant tell by the weights but the confidence was much better with the squats. Man m legs were like jelly though. Goes to show you that being a lazy **** (neglecting legs for 9 months) and having a desk job makes for some poor leg conditioning.[I]

Misc Not much for other items of interest. My blood sugars have been decent and so has the diet. Much cleaner. So I am well on my way to meeting those minor goals I set for the start of Feb. I am looking forward to setting more and obtaining those as well.

Brie and I babysat her godchild Bryce. Dam that kid is so cute. He is turning 1 this Saturday. I swear he is so well behaved and happy all the time. So I spent the night playing with him and crashed around 11pm. I was beat. On a side note, when it comes to that time, Brie is going to be an awesome mother. I swear she changed that diaper in record time haha.

Thanks for all the responses guys!!

I still have some slight DOMS in the twigs but they are getting better as the sessions continue.

I woke up yesterday morning, thankfully, and my left shoulder was killing me. I am not sure what I did to it over night ;) but man it is really bothering me. Bringing my arm out to the side doesnt bother it much nor does doing pushups, but bringing it to the front and across my body it kills. So i didnt do push last night, decided I would wait until tonight and see how it feels.

Putting off the push session worked out to be a good idea anyways. Brie's place had a leaky roof so I helped her move some things around, and I also wanted to be there to hear what the landlord had to say. So that is how I spent my night.

Today the shoulder is feeling a bit better, I am going to go through with the push session regardless of how it feels, what exercises i do and the intensity has yet to be determined.

Log for 2/5/2004

Cuban Rotations (plates) - 10lbs*10resp*2sets - just to warm up the rotators

Seated External Rotation (plates) - 10lbs*12reps*2sets - Another rc warmup

BB Bench Press - 115*10, 145*10, 145*10, 145*10, 145*10, 145*10 - Didnt have a spotter tonight so I kept it light. I felt very strong though, my shoulder didnt have any pain that I felt yesterday (another reason for taking it easy).

BB Overhead Press, seated - 65*10, 65*10 - Was easy, but again I babied the shoulder. Next week will be different.

EZ Bar Seated Skulz - 60*13, 60*8.5 - I am going back to the skullz for a while they seemed to help my tris more than pushdowns. Felt good today.

DB Lateral Raises - 10lbs*12*2 - Felt this in my shoulder, so i took it very light.

Log for 2/6/2004

Vbar Pulldowns - 100*10, 120*10, 160*10, 160*10, 160*9 - Not to shabby, my secong time doing these and I like them.

BO DB Rows - 60*10, 100*10, 100*10 - Not bad here at all, strength is going up in these, will give the 110's a shot next week.

BO DB Raises - 30*12, 30*12 - Ok, not my best though

Oly EZ bar curl, weight does not include the bar - 40*10, 60*7 drop to 40*7 - Anyone know the weight of an olympic EZ curl bar, the chrome ones (not the very long ones). Anyways my bis were shot after all the pulling.

Log for 2/9/2004

BB Squats - 45*7, 135*7, 205*7, 205*5, 185*7 - Not bad, its getting more comfortable (relatively). My knee did crack on the 2nd to last set and felt a little weird, but all is fine.

SLDLs - 75*7, 185*5, 185*5 - These seem harder than usual, I think I may do higher reps (8) next session

Seated Calf Machine - 125*12, 140*12 - Blah

Crunches (plates) - 25lbs*30*2

DB Side Bends - 85*10, 85*10 (each side one at a time)

First I want to say you guys are great. Never let me get to far behind. Thanks a ton :)

Second. I have been pretty sick these last couple of weeks. I mean run over by a truck sick. Both Brie and I caught the flu that has been going around over here and are still not feeling to great. So my efforts have been focused on sleeping and forcing fluids down my swollen and sore throat. I am going on two weeks of not lifting a weight, but things are getting better. It doesnt help that I have been working out of the office for the last 3 weeks or so. I have ben doing some seasonal testing that is now finally coming to an end. This week I have actually been in the office because I feel like dog**** and found someone to test for me this week. Oh and since I work a posh schedule (m-th, 7-5, f-sun off) I prob wont post again till monday - unless I get back early - so have a great weekend everyone.

Hear Hear! ;)

I'll show you foo's how to train! Then how to drink! Hell, both at the same time, I don't care.

Get better soon, Eric, so you can start pounding the weights again!

We have a ton of people in this area it seems, we should (and will eventually im sure) set some time aside to get together and train/whatever. Brie's mom live in Bangor so we go up there every once in a while and it isnt that far to begin with - plus in the summer I am always looking for a reason to ride!

I better get hitting the weights again so you guys dont toss me into a locker.

3/15/2004

Squat - 45*10, 135*10, 185*7*3sets
Nothing special here. Was very easy which is a good thing since it is such a light weight. The last time I had a leg day was 3 weeks ago :( so I figured I would take it a bit light.

SLDL - 75*10, 165*7*2sets
Again, nothing special here. Although its sissy weight, people still look at me like I am a front another planet when I do these - I am one of the few in the gym who actually squat and deadlift.

Seated Calves - 125*15*2sets, 135*15
Blah...

Single DB Obliques - 85*10*2sets each side
Gotta love the stretch.

45degree Crunches - X*25, 25lbs*25*2sets
Blah...

Overall it wasnt that bad of a day. Was the first time I have worked out in two weeks and 3 weeks since my last leg day. I know what I need to do to reach my goals now its just a matter of doing it.

Anthony - It feels great to be back in the gym. The soreness that I have today reminds me why I love leg day so much.

Brian - Thanks for stopping in!

Borris - Yeah it has been to long since i posted a workout. I am pretty sure that I am to big to fit inside a locker.

Edgar - I hope they get back up there!! I just have to be consistent - seems that I am having trouble with that lately.

Didnt lift today. Went and did a bit of shopping in Freeport with Brie. Then we visited her friend for a while. Afterwards we drove by this mexican place that we have been meaning to try out and decided to stop in. Man this place was great - food was excellent and the pitcher or margaritas (good size one to boot) we shared was dam good.

We rented Patch Adams but once we got back to her place i was fuken beat and fell asleep on the couch.

Tonight or tomorrow night I plan on doing some PUSH movements.

Hi. My name is ericG and this is my journal.

Its been a long time since my last session and an even longer time since I have been consistent with my training. Dont even ask about my diet ;). Actually the diet hasnt been all to bad. My diabetes is under control. The bloodwork I had done for my last visit came out great. My mind just hasnt been in the training mode at all this past year. The result being a weaker/smaller ericG. I want to change this.

I would love to get back the size that I lost, friends say that I didnt lose much (is any) size, but I think I have. I know my BF% isnt the greatest but I really dont feel like cutting (per se) at the moment. My plan is to get active again: start training consistently, some cardio and whatnot. My diet will be cleaner during the work week and stay pretty much the same, as it has been, for the weekends. I am thinking by my increased activity that I will slim up a little bit and hopefully gain that 'size' (LBM) that i think has taken a vacation.

I stepped on the scale yesterday and it read 187lbs. Not bad. If I were to guess I would say my BF% is in the upper teens.

Now that all of that is out of the way, here is waht i did yesterday:

5/4/2004 - Tuesday

Deads: 75*10, 165*8*4sets Was very easy. It has been years since I have done conventional deads. They will be added into my routine on my back day - or pull day (see more about this below)

BO DB Rows: 60s*10, 80s*10*3sets

Vbar Pulldowns: 140*10, 160*8, 120*10 blah
SS with...
Leg Curls:60*10, 80*10 blah

EZ Bar Curls: bar+60*10, bar+60*8 - drop to bar+40*6
SS with...
DB Shrugs: 70s*12, 80s12 been a while since I have done these. The BB shrugs used to make my shoulder(s) unhappy so I stopped doing them. The DBs felt good

That was it. Short and sweet. As I touched upon above, I am not sure if I will be doing a Push/Pull/Legs split or a Push/Pull split. Right now I am leaning towards the later.

Oh there is a questions I have for you supplement folks... I was thinking about taking some creatine. I am a creatine virgin fyi, but I was wondering if it would have any ill effects as far as my being a diabetic?

Glad to see you back in the gym. :) Legs/push/pull is a good routine. I'm using it now until I increase my strength in certain areas, then I will be switching back to a more balanced westside routine. I can't see why creatine would be an issue, but you may want to ask your doctor.

hey eric glad to see you back man.

As for the creatine my doc told me with the diabetes there is a much higher kindey risk for diabetics that take creatine.

I stay away from it because of that.

Thanks for the responses guys.

justin Just dont let it happen again.

Anthony Ive used Legs/Push/Pull in the past. I liked it a lot, i think I might give the two day Push/Pull a shot and see how I like it.

Brian Yeah I thought about the whole kidney thing. I still might try a couple cycles to see how I respond.

Thanks Edgar!

I worked late yesterday. Did a ton of running around. I was going back and forth between three jobs and one of the contractors probably needed help wiping their own arse. I think I am a glorified baby sitter! So it was a pretty hectic day, didnt get anything done at work that I wanted to.

I had a couple of errands to run after work so I didnt get home until almost 8pm. I ate then watched a bit of the boobtube - Spurs/Lakers *go Spurs*. Fell asleep pretty early. Feel good this AM though.

I forgot my gym stuff at the house this morning so I will make a trip to the store and get some stuff to lift in. The gym I got to is not even close to my home, but very close to where I work so this is what I gotta do. If I dont make it tonight I will get some work in tomorrow.

Speaking of work, I will be working tomorrow (my regular sched is 4-10hour days, M-TH) so I will be getting soem OT.

On another note; Brie and have plans on getting tipsy tonight - should be a good time.

Doctors use creatnine to diagnose kidney problems. High levels of creatnine are not an actual danger in and of themselves, they can simply indicate kidney problems. Taking creatine increases these levels, so I think most docs prefer that you don't use it, as it sorta negates their method of early detection. Other than that, I don't believe I've read anything about it being harmful to the kidneys.

Well I gather I should be set then? I figure I am not going to be on the stuff for the rest of my life. I am just curious how it will react with my body and if its worth the cost.

Well my weekend didnt go so bad. Work was pretty boring on Friday, but I didt hit the gym after I got out. Here is what I did:

BB Bench - 45*10, 135*10, 185*8*8*7, 135*10

Squats - 135*10*3sets not a max effort, but my legs started to cramp up a bit, guess thats what you get for sitting on your a$$ in front of a computer all day

DB Overhead Press - 35s*10, 40s*10, 40s*8
SS with...
Seated Calf Press - 140*12*2sets

Leg Extensions - 90*10, 120*10*2
SS with...
DB Lateral Raises - 15s*12*2, 20s*8

Seated Skulz - Oly EZ bar+ 50lbs*6*2

That was it, I went through things pretty fast and it felt great! I still have DOMS from the leg work!!
