Justin - thanks bro. I plan on getting at least two lifting sessions in per week. Hope to add some cardio in as well. Some weeks I will lift 3 days/week, but I am aiming for at least two.

Edgar - Thanks bro. In time the strength will be back up there.

Its a beautiful day outside today; mostly sunny and in the 80s. I wish I riding my bike instead of being here at work. Oh well, thats life. Hitting the gym after work today. This session should look a lot like last Tuesdays - a full PULL day.

Well, you haven't lost THAT much on the bench. You'll be back in the swing soon.

The strength doesnt seem so bad, but I burn out VERY VERY fast. If I started to do the 4sets*5reps like i was before, I think my first set wouldnt be to far off from my old PR (think it was 4 sets of 235-240), but for the following sets I would be done. My muscular endurance blows.

Anthony - Just recently. In the past I followed a push/pull/legs split. Since I am not sure how many days a week I will be getting in the gym I am going to follow a push/pull split for a while. Thanks for checking in.

Didnt do much yesterday. I was going to hit the gym but I got out of work late and was beat. When I got home a crashed for a couple of hours. Lots of things have been going through my mind lately. I came to the conclusion that I stress myself out about small, little, meaningless things. I over analyze situations and thoughts that go through my head. I have been pretty depressed late last week and so far this week for no reason really. My mind is a mess 24/7 and I have a hard time falling asleep. I think I may go see my doc and see what they have to say. Hopefully they dont check me in.

Are you still dieting?

ericg
05-24-2004, 05:56 AM
Justin - Things are going better. Still gotta get my ducks in a row though

Robbo - Hey man. How have you been? My shoulder is a lot better, dare I say 100%. I have pretty much figured out which exercises aggravate it so I stay away from those. My diet isnt doing all that bad. I am kind of forced to watch what I eat due to diabetes. Ive been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and have been able to control my blood glucose leves with oral meds so far. The Dr said it will be soon that I will have to start up insulin. Anyways, I am not really trying to create a caloric defecit. Right now I am just getting back into a regular routine and being more active overall. Hopefully this will lean me out a bit. After I get a couple of consistent months under my belt I will make some goals to shoot for. Thanks for checking in bro.

5/21/2004 Friday

Deads

75*8
165*8
215*5
235*4 - I coulda had a couple more in me but I wussed out.
165*10
Overall not bad, felt great.

Chins

bw*7
bw*7
bw*5
Its been a little while since I have done these. I am going to nix the pulldowns and do these instead, I seem to get better results with these.

Leg Curls

80*10
80*10
80*9

DB Shrugs

100s*10

That was it. I was meeting Brie for lunch so I had to cut it short and hit the shower.

This past Saturday I was in one of my good friends wedding. I have known the couple for around 8 years or so. It was a good time. Everyone looked awesome and had a great time. The photographer called me baldy numerous times (which I guess was expected) so that name seem to stick with me the rest of the day/night.

Sunday I made a pretty good sized dent on the couch.

Fran - Hey man. Long time since you have been around these parts!! Health wise I am feeling pretty good. Thanks for stopping in man.

Soba - :spam:

Edgar - Thanks! The chins were a bit dissapointing as I have lost some on them, but I will get them back up there. I do like them much better than pulldowns thats for sure. When I get my groove with the deads they should shoot up. I know im stronger than those numbers, I just dont push myself.

volcamp - Thats sucks about your back. I have been around many people that have problems with their back and it doesnt seem like a fun time. Knock on wood that mine is 100%.

Justin - No problem man. Its not a big deal, just wanted to catch up on things. Thanks!

Havent done much since last Friday. Picked up a book that I started reading a while back. Then I put it down ;) I know I am playing wallyball on Wednesday so that should be fun. I should get a couple more sessions in before the end of the week.

Keep your chin up bro. We all go through ups and downs, but the measure of our character is how we act when things get tough. Stick to your plan regardless of how you feel inside, you know what is good for you and what isn't. If you let things slide it just makes everything else seem that much worse. I've been down that road before and it sucks. I don't mean to make a mountain out of a mole hill or anything, but if you want some help in dealing with the small stuff, take a look at mediation and/or buddhism. Not saying you have to become a monk, but a lot of their philosophy is extremely helpful. Plus you already have the haircut. :)

Either way, stick to the plan!!

ericg
05-25-2004, 07:15 AM
Haha. Thats great about the haircut. I will definately look into it though. Never hurt to learn something new. You are right in the fact that I know what is good for me, and I know what I have to do. Now its just a matter of doing it.

Hey fellas. Not much to report as far as lifts go. I did play some wallyball for close to 3 hours yesterday, was a decent cardio workout. When you play with few people you get to run around a lot!! Anyways, things are going better with me. I think I will hold off on seeing a Dr for now and see if I can change some things in my mind/life to better my attitude.

I am going to the gym after work and plan on doing a PUSH session. We shall see how that goes.

On another note, like usual I have Fridays off from work, and since it is a holiday weekend I wont be back until tuesday! This does mean I wont be posting until that time either.

Anthony
05-27-2004, 05:58 AM
What the hell is wallyball? Is that the game we played as kids where you threw a ball at a brick wall and if someone dropped it while trying to catch it on the bounce, they had to go up to the wall and bend over so someone could throw the ball at them? That was a fun game. :D

Good to hear things are getting better!!

My weekend was decent. Alhtough it was windy as hell the rain finally stopped for the days that I had off. Went out both Friday and Saturday night to see my buds band play. Was a god time. I spent a little time with Brie on Friday which was cool. I went for a decent motorcycle ride on Sunday with my niece. I took her to Freeport and we did a little shopping and stuff like that.

PS - I hope when the Lakers face the Pistons in the finals that they dont get ALL the calls like they did in the T-wolves series.

Yo. This may be a long post...

Time for some updates, and more...

Last Wednesday I played 2 hours of wallyball and kicked some ass - as usual.

Last Thursday I had a PUSH session that looked like this:

Bench
45*10
135*10
185*5
185*4
185*5
135*7

No spotter today so I didnt go all out. I think I could have managed a couple more reps on the 185 sets.

Squat
135*10
155*7
175*6
175*6

Didnt push myself as usual. I seem dependant on having someone there to kick me in the ass - to dig deep. Needless to say these sets were not that difficult.

DB Overhead, no back support
45s*7
45s*4
40s*6

Seated Calf
175*10
175*10
140*12

Leg Ext
140*8
140*10

Pushdowns
70*9
80*7

Lateral DB Raises
20s*8
20s*7 drop to..
15s*5

Not a bad workout here.

I have run into what I think is a nice opportunity. I met a guy named William Smith earlier this week and got talking to him. He is a former natural Mr Italy and has placed and/or won some other contests as well. This guy has been through a lot. Had kidney failure, now has diabetes and a ****ty immune system. Had somewhere near 17 surgeries, but still looks awesome - very big and strong. Anyways, in talking to him he mentioned that he trains with a guy that is going to be moving out of the country and since I seem interested and seem to have a basic grasp of the sport and what is required of it - he asked me if I could take his place. So I took him up on it and had a session with him and a coworker if mine (who has been training with him for 6 months). Now this is not a PT session, but he actually is working out, we are spotting him and he spots us. The fee is nothing, but pain is expected he says. I think I am going to learn a lot from him because he does things a lot differently than I am used to. I am looking forward to seeing what progress I can make.

Oh yeah, here is what we did yesterday (all i can remember are the exercises)

Pulldowns - palms away - to the front

Seated row machine - thinkits a hammer strength machine

BO DB rows - both sides at the same time

Pulldowns - palms away - to the back

He is a stickler for PERFECT form and that is saying it mildly.

Im playing wallyball tonight, thursday at 7pm we have another session.

Anthony
06-09-2004, 08:05 AM
Whooo! That should be awesome! Be sure to take get as much out of this as possible!! Good luck!

You still haven't told me what wallyball is, though. :(

ElPietro
06-09-2004, 08:11 AM
I think wallyball, or as I knew it, wall ball, or I've even heard it called something like burbee, is baseball against a wall with a tennis ball, or one of those heavier rubber balls. It's great if you only have two people. Just have a box outlined on the wall, and the pitcher pitches, and basically you segment the field so if it's hit in a certain area it's either a single, double, triple, or home run, and you just drive in runs until you are struck out or pop out.

Used to play this all the time when I was younger. Maybe he's talkin bout somethin else though. He is a bald freak after all. :D

Hope everything works out with your new training partner. William Smith, now there's an Italian name if I ever did hear one. :p

ericg
06-09-2004, 08:49 AM
Tony the Troll - Yeah I will learn all I can and get my ass kicked at the same time. This may be what I need though, finally. See below to ease your mind

ElFluffAtwinkie - The wallyball I am talking about is basically volleyball played inside of a racketball court. A net goes from one end of the wall to the other and you play as you would volleyball. You can hit the ball off the walls and what not. Its a pretty fun game.

I dont think Will was born in Italy, just trained there for a while. I dunno. Thanks for the wishes.

Haha, you guys are great. Once again I am bumped from page 14 or something.

Some of you know that I have been kind of going through a bit of stress and what not, yeah it is probably mostly self induced, regardless the rest of me suffers. I have been hitting the weights for a good three weeks again - yay. At least it has been consistent, eventhough the intensity isnt 100%. Going through the motions makes me want to come back for more. Anyways, enough bullsh!t. I am still here, mostly a lurker but i plan on making frequent stops, and who know I may even post my lifts again ;). I plan on it, count on it.

14? More like 34!! ;)

Now get to posting some session!!

You still lifting with that Italian guy?

Hey bro!!

First to answer your question about the Italian guy. I have stopped training with him. One major reason is that it was a pain in the ass to travel back and forth to his place and since i had to follow his busy schedule it kind of left me running around a lot. If I lived closer to where he trained then I would still be at it most likely. He has been taking some time off as well. Some Drs visits and he just participated in the organ transplant games (or something like that) so his schedule has been pretty crazy. I did learn some things from him though. The major thing is that I never pushed myself nearly as hard as I should. Another thing is that you can get some nice results using machines. Anyways sorry for the looong answer.

So far this week I had two sessions. This is from memory...

Monday 8/2/04: PUSH

bb bench: 115*10, 165*10, 165*10, 165*6 (i think. i know my tris gave out haha, yeah)
bb ovhd: 85*10*2 (not bad)
db lat raises: 17.5*10*2
seated tri ext w/ex bar: 65*10*2 (not bad)

Tuesday 8/3/04: PULL

chins: 10/9/8/6
bo db rows: 105s*10*2
bo db rear delt raises: 25s*10*2
ez curls standing: 85*10*2

Thanks for the resposes guys!!

This weekend flew by like usual. It was a pretty good one though. I rode my bike a lot and got caught in a major storm. I was soo soaked I cannot begin to describe how wet I was. At one point on my way home they had to detour traffic (in the pouring rain) because some of the road was flooded. It was nuts but for some reason I loved it kept a smile on my face the entire time.

I plan on hitting the legs tonight, that should be fun.

8/9/2004 LEGS

Well I will throw my ego aside and post my leg session. Though it was weak I did have some left in me, intensity wasnt all there but like a friend told me the other day "100% consistency and 80% quality (of diet/workouts) is better than 80% consistency and 100% quality". Meaning its best to stay at it 2-3 times a week even if you are just going through the motions compared to busting your ass 2-3 times a month. It seems pretty simple but sometimes you have to hear things in order for them to sink in, yaknow?

Anyways...

Squats: 115*10, 165*5*8*8*5
Weighted Crunches: 0lbs*20, 25*20*2sets
SLDL: 115*10, 165*10*2sets

Its been a while and it felt great.

Tuesday I had a date so I didnt lift.

Tonight I plan on doing push or pull, it will be a gametime decision.

EZ bar OVHD tri extensions:

I plan on changing things up a bit as far as my routine goes. If you couldnt tell I currently follow a Push Pull Leg split. I am going to switch the biceps/tricpes around so it so it looks like this. Chest/Shoulders/Biceps, Legs/Abs, Back/Triceps. The reason behind this is that my triceps are very weak, give up very quick. So I am going to see if this helps me strengthen the more effectively. Besides a little change wont hurt and I can always go back.

Any thoughts??

Expect three sessions tomorrow...

Well, I personally really like the LPP split, but it wouldn't hurt to try something new. You could also try doing your tricep work first. Maybe throw in some heavy close grips, dips, rack lockouts, floor presses, etc.

I went out last night and had some drinks, more than I should have since I had to wake up at 6am. So I am starting the work day with 3 hours of sleep. Wonderful. For the most part I had a fun time.

LOL

I feel the love. Nice.

So I had one session last week :( After that allergies have been kicking my ass. Yeah so thats my excuse. I was supposed to spend the weekend at UNE but only stayed on night, then the rest of the weekend I pretty much stayed inside, blowing my noze, sneezing, drinking water - fun. I even missed a bike run that I wanted to go on Sunday. Fuken allergies suck. I feel SO much better today, finally. I am playing wallyball after work - yup it is starting back up!!

Anyways, last weeks legs session went pretty well if i remember correctly. I dont have my notes on me but will post it up tomorrow.

Thanks for the love.

Edgar - allergies are totally gone now (knocks on wood). thanks

Justin - thanks for the never ending bump!! wish you could have made it to bangor. next time...

Now as for the Bangor meet: Pete, Jeff, Tony and myself went to this very modern and hip bar after grabing some dinner at the Ground Round (or as Tony would like to say Ground Pound). It was a very interesting place and things were pretty calm unitl Pete bought tequila shots for the tabel, thats where it all began. So after MANY shots and trying to persuade the bartender to give us a couple more, to no avail, we closed the place down and stumbled towards the hotel. The hotel wasnt that far down the road, but we all still agreed it was a definate GPP session. Some other interesting things happened along the way but I will let someone else share the happenings in Rm 101 ;) Finally I passed out, fully clothed, ontop of all the bed sheets at around 3am?

The next morning the plan was to get some breakfast and meet Isaac to lift at 1pm. Breakfast never happened and despite being "interrupted" by room service a couple of times, most of us slept till around noon time. So Pete, Jeff, Tony and I stumbled into Jeffs car and made our way to the YMCA to meet Isaac and Audrey for some lifting. Most of us were probably still illegal to be driving, some of us hard a hard time puting our shoes on and I know at least Tony and I felt like puking before we even got out of bed. Hungover, empty stomach, and tired as a mofo seem to make for the best sessions!!

Highlights of the workout:

Tony hit a PR with a 505 dead . He also squatted, which he said he sucked at? Relatively speaking I guess. He even benched that day - I think his left side is much stronger than his roght for some odd reason ;)

Pete did some benching, pretty heavy if I do recall. He also made deads look dam easy but held himself back towards the end.

Jeff also did some benching and kicked some ass deadlifting as well. He should of had that 405, but it was being stubborn. Next time he is good for a double im sure.

Isaac did some good mornings. Those were fun to watch. He also did some squatting with the chains and some deads as well.

As for me I started off benching and had a decent session, did some reps with 185 and 205 got 235 4" off my chest and then wussed out. I even deadlifted which is something I havent done in over a year, conventional anyways. I got 315 for a double and slightly got the 405 off the ground. It wasnt too bad.

The session lasted for a couple of hours and all of us were hungry, very hungry. So where is the best place to go to kill an appetite? Well, for future use just dont go to a chinese buffet. After some wonderful "chinese" food we headed back to the rooms to catch up on some Zs. The party started again at 10pm where we all met Isaac and Audrey at his shag pad. A couple of shots were poured (though some of us still wasnt feeling the alcohol, so we passed) and drinks were downed and off we went to a bar just down the road. More drinks and shots were passed around untill they kicked us out at around 1:30. The people there were cool though, and the food was decent as well. Oh and they had guinness on tap  We all finally found our way back to Isaac's place, some of us even rolled around in the gras for a while, I wont mention any names. I hope those grass stains come off your shirt Pete. Tony and Nancy skipped out early as it was way passed his bed time. The rest of us stayed and made some drunken phone calls till about 3:30 am when things died down. Pete, Jeff and I took a cab home. It was a good night and a great weekend...

Working out with these guys really started a fire under me. To watch Tony hit a PR hungover, on an empty stomach, and with little sleep made me realize that I am no where near the level of dedication that he is at. So I thank you guys for that and now it is up to me to keep that flame going and get the 405 dead (or maybe more) the next time we meet.

Anthony

9/27/2004 Monday - Legs

Squats

45*8
135*8
185*8
225*5
245*5 - felt pretty good.
225*5 - dropped back down to 225 cuz the back was dam sore/tight

I took a video of the last two sets just to see if my form blows goats or not. I think it looks decent and my depth is nice.

Seated Calves

170*12
170*10
170*10

Reps were very good. Full ROM

Weighted Crunches

50*15
50*15

Tried them on a mat to elevate my but a bit - so i can get a nice stretch but i kept slipping on the mat so it sucked arse. Conclusion; dont use the fuken mat. I may try them on the ball next time.

Leg Curls

100*6
110*6
110*6
110*6

I tried one set of SLDLs but my lower back was pretty sore from DL on Saturday, so I lowered myself to some leg curls.

Overall it was a decent session I think. My lower back was on fire for the last couple sets of squats, but nothing to hold me back much. It is feeling fine this morning so all is well. I feel good.

Pfft, I never fell once. It was audry, and she actually fell twice for the record. I guess I was just the unlucky recipient of her wiping the dirt and grass off on.

Oh, and I was disappointed by the lack of response from the other bar patrons there, when I was boisterously cheering on the yankees in a red sox fan dominated town.

Lol, I was trying to figure out how I had no cash the next day, and then realized I went through $100 at that bar, had no food, and we were only there at most a couple hours. :D Luckily, there was enough left over for a taco bell lunch.

Pete - Thats right it was Audrey. I forgot since the rest of us were already at Isaac's wondering if you three got lost. I think you could do well on a diet if you had a talk with the Taco Bell owner about making a burriot with the macro ratios of your choice. Hell you go there often enough, you must own part of the chain by now.

Justin - Yeah. So the news is out - i actually train!! The fire is still burning...

Borris - It is funny how everyone is all pumped up. I noticed that Petey did some cardio yesterday and it has been cold out lately, maybe hell is freezing over. A 365 squat would be sweet, dont think that will happen before the year turns over.

9/28/2004 Tuesday

Not much to report as far as training goes. My back was a little sore on the ride home, think it is mostly due to my fuken seat in the car. Just another reason for me to trade it in for a Jeep. The rest of the week will look somehting like this:

Tonight - wallyball for 2 hours aka GPP ;)
Thurs - Chest, shoulders, biceps
Friday - cocktail party
Saturday - Back, triceps

9/30/2004 Thursday - PUSH

Warmed up with some DB cubans and external rotations.

BB Bench
45*10
135*8
185*2
205*5*4sets

Felt good overall, though after the 185 set I have this sharp pain behind my right shoulder blade. It gets worse when i squeeze them together, any ideas fellas. Regardless I kept on going. Nothing serious.

DB Shoulder Press
45s*6 - easy
50s*7
50s*5 or 6

DB Lateral Raises
20s*8
25s*6
20s*8 - strict form

Cable Tricep Pushdowns
100*8
110*4 :( weak
100*6
80*6 - for the burn/pump ;)

Did a couple sets on the pecdec. again, for the pump.

Overall I was pleased getting the four sets with 205! The pain in my shoulder blade area sucks though. I do recall having this before and it eventually went away so I am sure its nothing. Well boyz ang galz. This fewl has to jump in the shower and get ready for a night out!! Later.

ericg

BigC - DB cubans is a rotator cuff movement. Similar to External Rotations. You stand up straight and hold your arms || to the ground. Then you bend your elbow and hold it at 90degrees so your hands are pointing forward. This is the starting position of the movement, now you rotate your upper arm while holding the elbows at 90degrees so that you hands point vertical. Hope that helps! Thanks for the props about the bench. BTW the pain is gone now.

Doug - LOL. Wally ball is just like volley ball, except you play it inside of a racketball court. Its pretty fun.

Justin - Thanks man! Hope you had a good one as well.

Pete - :swear:

10/2/2004 Saturday PULL

Deads
135*8

285*2 - reset after each rep

BW*6
BW*4

BO DB Row

BO DB Rear Delts
30s*8
30s*8

OLympic EZ Curls (bar assumed at 20lbs)
70*5
90*5
drop to
70*5

Not a bad session. The deads felt a lot better than last weekend. Kinda easy. I bet the 405 will come a lot quicker then I think. The chins suffered a bit but I wasnt too concerned with it.

Other items of interest. I got the tattoo that I have been thinking up for the last couple of years. It took almost 5 hours for this to be done and he still has another hour or so left (shading in the flames, and a man in the bottom of the maze). Look at it carefully and you will notice my initials, ESG, are in the flames. I wanted them to be not so obvious. Can you see them?

Tha maze itself is a native american symbol (big part of my heritage) called "Life's Choices" or "The Man in the Maze". Its meaning: "It is significant of life's cycles and eternal motion and also of the choices we are always confronted with. Correct choices lead us to harmony with all things, no matter how long & hard the road can get." Originally created as an illustration of an emergence story by the Tohono o'odham or Papago Indians of the Central Valley in Arizona. The little man is named "U'ki'ut'l" in their language.

ElPietro

Northern Maine and Canada was mostly settled by the French. The Acadian culture, if you will. When the English scooped up and deported a lot of them, they dropped them off all over the East Coast, but mostly in Louisiana. Acadian became "Cajun" down there. It's a similar dialect and culture.

So I picked up another job. Will be working as a door man at a bar in Brunswick. The pay is pretty sweet for what I will be doing. This place is mellow as a night out with Anthony so its easy money. I will be working late some weekday nights but for the most part it will be only on the weekends. I was pretty beat yesterday (worked Mon night) so I didnt do a fuken thing. I went to the book store after work and got a few books that I am looking forward to reading, grabbed a bite to eat, then layed my ass down to watch the yankees beat the sox. I fell asleep when the yanks were up 6-0 then woke up to find the sox down by 1, but the yanks held on. Tonight I will be playing wallyball, Thursday - Saturday I will get my PUSH and PULL sessions in. Looking forward to it

Thanks for the compliments everyone. No Justin I didnt quit again, been pretty busy with the new job and what not. Just havent been around the boards much. I have been lifting though so no worries about that.

The second job has had some positive impact. Of course the money is nice, but its keeping my diet in check on the weekends more: no alcohol and i bring clean 'snacks' with me so its all good.

Doctors appointment went pretty well last Thursday. All my blood work came out fine, and sugars are looking excellent. I even talked to him about my goals as far as lifting and he told me a story about a guy he used to work with in the lab. I guess he was a pretty strong guy - could DL 600+. I also asked him about taking creatine, and he said that would have very little adverse effect on my diabetes. So this is cool. He seems pretty well informed, well he is a 'diabetic specialist' so he fuken better be. So some creatine may be in my future. I dunno.

Here is my last session:

warmed up with some cubans and ext rot.

BB Bench
115*10
165*5
210*5
210*5
210*4 - should of had 5, mental error
210*4.5 - could call this 5, spotter said he didnt touch but i will just give myself .5

OVHD BB Press
65*5
95*10 - these felt easy
115*5 - not bad here, tried for 6 but my triceps were shot. next week ill just jump right to the 115.

DB Lateral Raises
20*10
20*10 - weak as usual

EZ Bar Skulz
80*10 - felt strong
80*6 - burnt out big time = weak tris
dropped to...
50*5

tonight is PULL

Anthony
10-19-2004, 11:30 AM

10/19/2004 Tuesday PULL

Deads
75*10
165*8
255*3
305*2 - reset after each rep, felt a slight pull in my ribs on the second rep.
255*3
255*2 - need some chalk, i know its wuss weight but my grip sucks ass.

Chins
BW*7
BW*5

Pulldowns
180*5

BO DB Rear Delts
30s*8
35s*8

BO DB Row
110s*8
110s*8

Oly EX Curls (bar assumed at 20lbs)
70*5
90*6
drop to
70*7

Seated Cable Rows
200*5
180*5
180*5

This session was ok. Nothing special at all going on with the deads. I did feel something pull on the right side of my ribs on the second rep with 305. I can still feel it now but it is nothing major at all. I do know that I need to get some fuken chalk. I did progress on the chins which is cool. I am thinking about doing those first? I dunno. Rear delts and DB rows were the same as usual. I need to move up with the Rows for sure. Again, the chalk will be handy for this since the knurling sucks on most of the DBs. I did better curling today, more reps with the 90 and the drop to 70 so i was sorta pleased. I did the seated rows just for shiats n giggles.

Oh yeah. I forgot to buy extra batteries for my mp3 player and it shut down while i was curling, so I am sure that had an effect on my seated rows ;) no excuse for the deads though.

Wallyball tonight. I work Thursday night so I am not sure if I will get a session before that or not. I am also getting my tat finished this Friday.

C - Thanks man appreciate the comments.

Yesterday went pretty well. I did some cardio before I played wallyball (cuz some of the people showed up late). It actually felt good to get the ol ticka pumpin. I was a bit suprised that I didnt get too winded. I think the change of scenery helped.

Went to get a crockpot last night. I found one that i wanted (goes to warm automatically after its done cooking) so I pulled it out of the box to make sure the top wasnt broken which it was fine, but the tops didnt fit on too well. It had a decent amount of play in it. I have seen others that are not like this. Not sure if its because the lid is soo light, but I dont want the moisture to excape. Anyways, I didnt get one. By monday I will have one though.

After all that I got home to see that the sox were spanking the yanks. I dont know what it is but I really dont like home teams. I dont hate them but its funny how everyone gets off this time of year if the sox are winning. I come into the office this morning and it was like one of those viagra commercials - everyone is walking around with a smile on their faces, jumpin for joy. I find it sad that they cant reach the level of enjoyment, or even half of it, with their every day lives. Those people that suddenly turn into baseball experts bother me as well. They can be fun to toy with sometimes though; me not being much of a baseball fan in general (what a boring fuken game unless there is a lot of scoring, its an old mans game) I will start to ask questions of these out of the closet experts that leave them speechless. If you dont know what ERA/RBI stands for then turn the fuken knob back to the Gilmore Girls. After saying all of this I hope the sox win the series. This will help out the traffic problems that Boston has. How? All those people who have been waiting 174 years for the sox to finally win another chanpionship will kick the bucket with their exuberance. Since I am on a roll, lets talk about the Patriots. My hate for them isnt as deep as the sox, they actually deserve some of their success. But if you watch their games closely they seem to all have horseshoes up their arses, how esle can tehy get so lucky. I bet if you look back at the past couple of season you will find that their opponents drop the most passes, have the most penalities called against, fumble the ball the most. Now you will say that the Pats cause this, but before you say that I would like to add that you can take out all the forced mistakes and the numbers would be crazy. Last week for instance. How many balls did the Hawks WRs drop? Its like the pigskin turned into an epidemic. I am not alone in thinking like this, just read the TMQb by Greg Easterbrook that he wrote up this week. OK I am done for now. I need to get some work done...

Tonight I have to work at the club. Tomorrow AM I am getting my tat finished.

Ok OK. I am ready for all your "jeez, you actually workout", "you are still alive" comments....

I figured since I have been on a slight roll with workouts that I will start posting my sessions again. Oh and I need something interesting to do at work. My right shoulder has been giving me some problems so I have changed over to using DBs for presses which I am still trying to find a groove with. Hopefully in the near future I can toss aside the pink DBs and lift some real weight with them. Ok enough of the bull****, here are the last couple of sessions. Be warned that this is after a two week vaca due to the holidays and fuked up work schedule...

225*3

SLDL
75*10
165*5
205*6 - feeling a lot better with these once again. my back was pretty tight though.

This session was done in no more than 20 minutes. I got out of work early due to the weather and thought I would have plenty of time to hit the bank and the gym. Well I get to the bank and its fuken closed. Whatever. So I arrive at the gym around 4:20 and they have a sign that they will be closing at 5pm. So i was like WTF. I think the girl at the desk noticed my demeanor and said that I have plenty of time, 40 min to get a quick workout it. So needless to say the session was VERY quick. It wasnt so bad though. I felt pretty strong and energized today just wish I had a bit more time between sets.

Tonight is PUSH.

50s*4 - read above

DB Lateral Raises
25s*4 - felt a twinge in my problem shoulder so i stopped
20s*8 - felt ok

Rot Cuff Work

Cable Pushdowns

BO DB Row
110s*8
110s*9R8L

BO Rear Delts
35s*8
35s*8 - blah

Lifted at the YMCA again. This on is located in Auburn and it a little better than the other one i went to last week, thankfully! The deads felt awesome. I hit a PR last week with the 385 fo i figured for th enext couple of sessions after I would do doubles and tripples so i dropped i to 365 and it felt pretty good. The 315 flew up easily. This place had NO chinup bars. They had one of the weight assisted ones with a pretty wide grip bar only so i decided to do pulldowns instead. Figures the pulldown machine didnt have any lbs listed. Oh well....

80s*0 :(
70s*7
70s*4

DB Overhead

50s*5
50s*4 -

Int/Ext Rotations & Cubans

Cable Push Downs
110*6
100*5
90*7
90*5 - not much to brag about.

DB Lateral Raises
25s*8 - slight pause at top
20s*8 - pause at the top

I am not to impressed here. I know I can get a couple of reps with the 90s. I wasnt happy about the DB benching at all. No progress made from last session. Then came the DB overhead presses. These sucked ass as well, not only did i make no improvement, I actually lost a couple of reps on the frist set. I know it is probably nothing to fuss about but it still sucks.

A couple things I need to get in order is my sleep, or lack of, and my diet - cleaning it up. Not only will this help lean me out, but hopefully keep my sugar levels in check. In a couple of weeks I have another appointment with my Diabetes Dr so I may discuss some diet options that will weed away the meds that I am on. Though it may be hard to rid all meds, since I am type 1, some wouldn't hurt.

Tonight is legs.

How have your sugars been? mine got messed a lil with all the stress but the last A1c test was 6.2 which is really good.

I am going to see about getting rid of some of my meds aso if i can keep it under control like i have been lately

Brian - Thanks bro. My levels havent been all that bad considering my diet hasnt been that good :(. I am seeing my Dr on the 1st of next month so I will get my blood work results then.

Justin - Thanks for stopping in!

Fair warning that these next two session that I am about to post suck donkey testicles.

1/20/2005 LEGS

Ext/Int Rotations

Squats
45*10
135*5
185*3
225*3
245*7 - last rep was a partial GM, blah
185*8

Seated Calves, plate loaded
180*12
205*5 - man this set bothered my ankle
180*7 - bah

SLDL
75*8
165*5
205*3 - man I need to figure something out with my core/lower back strength. It was still fried from DLs on Monday. Hopefully the ETS will help a bit with that so I can get these back up there.

Laying Leg Curls
100*8
120*6

If you all pay close attention to my journal you will notice that I went down a couple lbs with the squat. There is a good, well decent, reason for this. I had my squat video (doing 245*5) looked at and found out that I need to concentrate on a couple things: Drive head up/back, arch my back more; so I am going to work on these a bit till I feel like I have made those improvements.

1/24/2005 PULL

Int/Ext Roatations, Cubans

Deads
75*7
165*5
255*2 - regrip after each rep
305*2 - see above, felt ok
365*1 - man i dont know what it was but I had no energy. this pissed me off. I got 2sets of 2 last week :(
345*1- blah
255*3

Chins, curl grip
BW*9
BW*6
BW*6

DB BO Row
110*8
110*8 - didnt feel all that bad

Cable Rear Delts
35*10
40*7 - I like using the cable as opposed to DBs

OLY EZ Bar Curls
70*5
120*4 - I thought i threw on 2 25's on each end of the bar the last time i did them, looking back it was only 40 on each end...
100*6
drop to
70*6

So that was that, a sucky workout. I think I am going to stop lifting the day after I get little sleep. I worked till 1am Sunday night and didnt get to sleep till 2am so that leaves me with about 3.5-4hours of sleep. I know this isnt an excuse but I am sure it would have helped if I got 7+ hours. Oh well, next week...

1/26/2005 PUSH

Rotator Cuff Work
Internal Rot
External Rot
Cubans

DB Bench
40s*8
60s*7
85s*6 - PR :)
85s*4
75s*8
75s*5

DB OVHD
55s*3 -
50s*3
40s*6

More rotator work

Cable Push Downs
110*7 - improvement here!
100*6
90*8
90*8

DB Lateral Raises
25s*7
20s*8 - paused

Overall I dont know what to think about this session. I was very happy with the 85s, but then I go to do some overheads and suck ass. The first set with the 55s tweaked my right shoulder a bit, so then I dropped to the 50s and the same thing happened. So then I took a breather for a couple of minutes and used the 40s for only 6 :( My shoulder was very tired, kind of like a soreness, the rest of the workout. Oh well, at least I improved with the DB Bench.

Your tris and delts were probably fatigued from the heavy bench, no worries. Anthony is right, the PR should make up for everything else.

No workouts. Log is at home.

Just wanted to say that I met with JustinF and Borris this weekend (along with their beautiful gals) for some food and drinks, some of us had too much of the later ;) It was a great time. Hope I dodnt make too much of an ass so we can do it again sometime.

It was kind of funny though. Usually when I go out with my friends I am one of the biggest guys of the bunch. That didnt hold true this time. Ive never met Justin till this weekend, so when he opened the door to his room, lets just say I got a taste of how Tony feels ;). I have never seen anyone wear South Pole clothes and make them look like a fitted shirt. If I remember correctly it was a 3X as well.

Justin - Haha. It was a pretty decent time. It was too bad that the first place was 80s night, that sucked...reminded me of, well, the 80s.

Borris - It sure was a rough ride. The weather was awesome that day, to bad I spent it trying to figure out what foods would stay down. I did have enough sense not to puke in your boot...It was funny cuz i was using the throne at first, but then i remember someone being in the bathroom for a while. Knowing this, I scoped out the closest trash can, which was luckily right next to the desk that i was sleeping near so I was golden.

NM - Indeed

2/1/2005 PULL

Deads
135*10 - TnG
225*5 - TnG
275*3 - reset grip after each rep
315*2 - reset grip after each rep
365*1 - went up nice
405*1 - PR, hit one of my goals, how sweet is that!
315*2 - reset grip after each rep

Cybex Cable Pulldown
setting 13*10 reps
setting 13*10 reps
settign 13*6 reps

DB BO Rows
105s*10
105s*10 - some guy was using the 110s (the highest DBs the Y has) for shrugs so I said fak it and used the 105s.

Cybex Cable Rear Delts
setting 4*10 reps
setting 5*8 reps
setting 5*8 reps

Oly EZ Bar Curls
75*5
105*7or8 - cant remember
105*6
drop to
75*8 - feel the burn.

SO I was pretty pleased today. I felt very tired going in the gym but after I started to move around a bit I knew I was going to try 4pps. I had to train at the Y today because a Doctors visit brought made it very inconvenient to lift at my normal gym. I hate traing at the Y because it is pretty small, there isnt much room to do deads, and usually the place is pretty busy. Regardless I set up in front of the squat rack while some guy was doing squats, he was cool about it and understood that there wasnt much room. Ok, I will get to the 405. It was tough for sure; once I got it to my mid thigh I had to dig deep to get it all the way back. Man it was a great feeling though to hold it at the top position for a few seconds. When I set it down I noticed there were a couple people watching so that was cool - actually felt like i was strong.

I remember her going into the bathroom to fix her contacts, then hearing you suddenly start heaving again. I was like: "Oh, sh*t" until I saw that you had a trash can.

Tim Nissen - Good luck with getting there bro. Hopefully I will be at 495 by years end. That would be a nice goal. For now though I am going to do a bit more reps and concentrate on squatting for a while, since i suck at them.

Borris - Thanks bro. If I would have known that those were your boots and not mine I would have chose them instead of the trash can. They were much closer. ;)

Brian - Yeah it went pretty well. We discussed my future plans as far as college and the possibility of me not having insurance and what not. Talked aobut me wanted to gain a bit of weight and then lean up a bit and he said that was fine. He also told me to give thought about speaking at on of the informational classes that they have and share my "story". That was a cool feeling that they think of me as a positive influence on people. My A1C was at 6.5 so it wasnt bad. He was pleased with my bloodwork and all the other stuff. Unfortunately I wont be coming of meds all together because I am type 1 and eventually I will be on insulin alone. Oh well.

Now for the workouts...

2/3/2005 Thursday - PUSH

Int/Ext/Cuban Rotations

DB Bench Press
40s*8
65s*5
90s*3 - PR, Heaviest DB ive benched to date, reps were low but i got it up
85s*6 - Not bad
85s*3 - ok
75s*5 - ok

DB Overhead
50s*7 - blah
50s*6 - blah, i am weak

Cable Pushdowns
110*7
100*6
90*5

Single Arm Cable Pushdowns
50*8 L&R - these felt pretty good. I think I may start doing these instead of the "normal" pushdowns, or at least add a few sets of these in.

DB Lateral Raises
25s*8 - paused at the top, felt much better than weeks prior.
20s*8 - paused.

I wonder if I did a 4day split if it would help my shoulder weaknesses out? Maybe do shoulder/tris on a seperate day and add in a couple bench/chest movements? What do you guys think?

2/5/05 Saturday - LEGS/abs

Squats
45*10
135*10
225*7
225*7
225*7 - trying to get the form down. I think this weight will let me get a better feel for things since its not much of a strugle, but heavy enough so i can force myself to keep good form. I want to make this my next goal - strong and confident squatting.

Seated Calves
195*9
195*8
150*12

Abs on the ball
*15*3sets - I like these you can get an awesome stretch. The ROM is great. Wont be long before im holding some plates.

Laying Ham Curls
120*10 - getting stronger
120*8

Extensions - just for fun
120*blah
160*10 - just started to get the burn. i like the burn.

225*5
315*2
365*1
415*1
425*1
435*1 - PR

First time I have ever done these and I was pretty pleased with the results. I pulled 30lbs more than my DL last week, felt nice to hold 435.

Chins
BW (~195lbs)*10*6 - I did these pretty slow. I want/need to get a belt to throw some weight on.

BO DB Rows
75s*5
110s*10
110s*10 - last few were a struggle, had to stop on rep 9 to catch my breath :(

Pulldowns - curl grip
170*6

Cable Rear Delts
35*10
40*8 - these are feeling stronger.

Oly EZ Bar Curls
75*5
105*8 - more next week.
105*3 - less than a minutes rest from the last set.

185*4 - Man this is the first time I have ever done these. All I have to say it is very awkward movement when you have never done it before. Not sure if I like it, give it a few more shots. If I ditch them then I will need something else to hit the chest with.

"...Other items of interest.

The little man is named "U'ki'ut'l" in their language."

That`s excellent, eric. I have a piece on my back, ribs and hip that took about 25 hours in total. I do feel your pain on being under the needle for long stretches of time. No amount of hard-ass-ness matters once you are a few hours in. LOL.

Anyway, it`s great to see a piece so well thought out and personalized.
