Hey guys, I've been eating full fat cottage cheese twice a day (usually) for a while now. Its only got 10g fat, and I'd cut other fats out of my diet to compensate. But is this the wrong kind of fat? I'm currently eating for maintainance, not gain, wether that makes any difference. The full fat stuff is just way cheaper, especially in the quantity I eat.

cottage cheese/protein

fats/olive oil, nuts, natty pb, egg yolks etc....list goes on

why cut out other fats in your diet?

i get the message, i'll get non fat cheese and back on the natty pb. Kinda miss it anyway. Cut 20g fat out per day, as I was eating 20g more fat in cottage cheese. A balance.

Fat is good for you. Eat your fat.

Don't get the non fat stuff, I think it tastes like crap. I get the low fat which isn't bad at all.

I use the nonfat. I like the taste and texture better, but I mix it with peanut butter to get some nice flavor and the fat content back up.

Well it would be largely saturated fat. While you want a certain amount of saturated fat in your diet (I believe of the order of 20 - 25g a day) it is fairly easy to achieve this and it's more important, in my opinion, to worry about getting adequate EFAs and making up the rest of your fat calories from largely monounsaturated fat sources.

If you want some Saturated Fat, you could try Coconut Oil. It's full of MCT's and tastes awesome.
