anyone know if there is such thing as a "flavoring packet" of powder? ex: cookies & cream, chocolate mint etc.

just throwing around the idea of making my own weight gainer or protein blend. i wouldnt be making the protein powders etc, just kind of mixing them together. this way i could have control over how much/type of protein, carbs, and fats i am taking in. i understand i could do this if i were making a single shake every time and then adding the ingredients to a blender one by one and hitting mix, but i thought it would be kind of cool to have everything in powder form sitting in a tub that i could just take a few scoops from and add water/milk and know that everything is there.

i guess to sum up, i am thinking along the lines of something like a muscle milk, how it has the flavoring and everything already in the powder and doesnt need anything except a liquid to go into.
is what i want to do possible, or am i out of my element on this? should i just maybe take an empty 5 lb tub and add the proteins/fats/carbs i want in there and then worry about the flavoring when i mix the actual shake?

would it be possible, for example, for me to make a oreo cookie flavor protein drink by putting a bunch of oreos in water in a blender and mixing it until its dissolved in the water and then let the water evaporate leaving behind the crushed oreos as a powder?(thought this way would be better than just crushing the oreos by hand:p)

Buy a big ol' bottle of icecream topping of your choice.

Sugar free jelly comes in powda.

Or, go get some BSL flavoring powder, apparently BSL flavours are awesome.

Black Star Labs flavor system...absolute best I've tasted. They have chocolate, vanilla, orange, watermelon, etc. etc.

Why don't you just crush the oreos dry a bit and then throw the crumbs in the blender? Don't need water.

In any event, you can do that, you'd still be dealing with the crap that's in oreos though, hehe.

stuff sounds really potent too. read someone added about half a teaspoon of it to flavor 30g of protein and it tasted great

when i do this, im probably going to have it be a night time, pre bed shake. what would you guys recommend go into this? im guessing mostly casein. what are the different types of casein? know of anywhere i can buy it in bulk for cheap?
what would you guys recommend as far as carbs and fat goes? recommend putting some slow GI carbs in this shake im trying to make or no? how can i go about getting some fat in this shake to increase its calories?

Oats for carbs, but unless you have a great blender the consistency can suck! Olive oil/flax seed oil/macadamia nut oil for fats.

A casein based protein would be your best bet due to the slow digestive properties.

what are the different types of casein?

Well, casein is casein to me. There are different classifications such as micellar casein, calcium caseinate, etc. In the end, doesn't matter much to me...the difference will be the consistency, how it mixes, how it tastes.

know of anywhere i can buy it in bulk for cheap?

http://www.blackstarlabs.com (though I don't know if they're still selling through this URL)

However much you feel like putting in there to meet your caloric goals.

recommend putting some slow GI carbs in this shake im trying to make or no?

If you want to put low GI carbs in there, put them in...if you don't, then don't, hehe. Again, it all depends on what kind of calorie goals you're trying to meet.

how can i go about getting some fat in this shake to increase its calories?

Use your imagination...olive oil, flax oil, peanut butter...hell, throw a fish in it.

hahah thanks for the links and info, i appreciate. i would like this shake to have a decent amount of calories, maybe between 600 and 1000.
i think adding oils might defeat the purpose im trying to do here which is have everything in powder form so i can just scoop it (unless the protein/carbs can absorb (to a degree) the oil so i dont have oil sitting at the bottom of a tub)

edit: i just looked at that trueprotein website and they sell powdered flax oil. that might be exactly what im looking for. although it seems a little pricy, ill have to start bargain hunting.

just looked at supplementdirect.com and they have 8lb and 50 lb bag of complex carbs. the ingredients say pure maltodextrin. did they somehow alter it because i thought this had a high GI number but they say it has a low one?http://www.supplementdirect.com/store_client_files/store_product_files/Pure_Complex_Carbs(091002114254).pdf

Maltodextrin is a complex carb because it is a glucose polymer. It is not altered, that's just what maltodextrin is. There are, of course, better options, but most MRPs use maltodextrin as the carb source.

For malto, think a complex carb version of dextrose, with a blunted GI rating. It's basically just calories.
