I'm just curious to know what foods and drinks cause you to lose water weight. I've heard alcohol, soda, some teas and vitamin c can have a diuretic effect.

I read/heard that water is a great diuretic. Drinking lots of it actually causes the body to hold less water.

Water and Sodium. Taking in larger quantity of water and sodium causes suppress aldosterone levels. You do the opposite in order to gain water weight. If you are looking for more information let me know.

I heard a whole lot of it dilutes the minerals in the body. so take more multivitamins.

utopianhopes. Are you sure on the salt thing. When I eat ham or bacon, I hold more water.

You can manipulate water retention with sodium and water - the trick lies in the timing. Aldosterone promotes the reuptake of water and sodium - when it is high, you'll hold water. But you acutally lower it by consuming more sodium and water. You basically have to convince your body there's a lot of water and sodium available, then cut the supply so it drops both faster than aldosterone has a chance to catch up and send the signal to retain both.
