Too many of those calories are going to your tape worm. Other than that i guess it's fine.

do you feel tired or bloated with that many carbs?

Think of all those calories you could be giving to the children of Ethiopia.

to be honest, I would like to have more protein in there.

I can only eat so many carbs before I feel bloated/disgusted.

Yeah, I'd be on a rollercoaster with that many carbs. Especially since the majority would have to be from starchy/high gi foods.

In terms of maximizing muscular growth, would there be any difference between dropping 100g from carbs and adding 100g to protein? My protein intake in grams puts me at 1.23 x BW currently. I'm under the impression that excess protein is just used as energy, thus it wouldn't matter.

It might make a difference if your insulin is all over the place.

I do not experience any of the symptoms apparantly associated with a spiked insulin level. Would this mean my insulin isn't too all over the place?

I think it would mean that your current metabolism is high enough to burn though them fast enough to not have that spike experience. I have about the same number of good/bad carbs as when I was much fatter... but with the increase in my protein intake and the hard lifting over the last 20 months.. my metabolism doesn't give me the spikes and mood swings from those carbs.

I'm not an expert though... I would like to hear what built says...

Quite possible, some people are more sensitive than others. I think your food choices will play a big role.

This is roughly the same type of diet that brought me from 150 to 198 with not many changes. My protein is slightly lower and my fats are slightly higher. As most of you know I didn't put on much fat at all (not to say I am or was shredded), so I guess my body responds fine to it?

So if you had great results before, why are you asking us? :p

Truthfully? Nito is being a dick because he thinks my diet blows. I told him, at least for me, there will be no difference between 300g protein 450g carbs and 230g protein 520g carbs.

Your protein intake looks good. I wouldnt see any benefit adding more protein unless you really needed the cals. I think carbs are very personal, some work on very low carbs, higher PRO and fat. Some work better with more CHO. Since it sounds like it worked for you in the past then I wouldn't change it.

Hey, you constantly critque my rountine as well as others, without being asked. I never called you an ass, I accept your criticism and move on. You are calling me a dick for simply stating that your diet is pathetic, and thruthfully that is what I believe. I especially belive this when you are taking in 230 g of protein 250 g fat and 600 g of carbs, which are mostly coming from simple carb sources.

Now the only reason I would say anything is to help you. I also asked my Biology teacher and he as well stated that the protein will not be used in energy in the same way as carbs will.

You compared my diet to yours. My whole bulking diet was ridiculous because I genereally ate whatever I saw and had little to no concern about macronutrients. I could have made better gains, and you can probably too.

Lets just drop the subject because no one's opinions are changing.

Crip needs 5k to gain. I say let him get his needed fats and protein (which I'd perhaps up a tad crippeh) then pound whateverthehell he wants to get to 5k.

CC:

Just cuz my OCD would kick in, I'd make it a neat:

200g Fat
525g Carb
275g Pro (1.48 x lb)

Not exactly the same way, but protein can still be used for energy.

Thats exactly what I think too.

If it were me, I'd try to get the extra kcals from fats, simply because I have to eat less of them (in terms of grams) to get to 5k.
