View Full Version : Is milk considered dirty?

Can milk form a significant part of a clean bulk. My most convenient method for bulking has always been three big meals plus 6-8 pints of whole milk, but it feels so dirty. I'm thinking of switching to skimmed milk, and getting the remaining cals from another source. I remember John Bernardi (sp) saying that you should avoid too much milk.
What do you guys think?

Personally, when I think of 'clean' bulk, I think lots of good food. Milk is part of that.

When I think of dirty bulk, I think of pizza, wings, cake, frosting straight out of the can...

The only way to make milk "dirty" is to lean over and whisper inappropriate suggestions into your glass. Ask it what it's wearing underneath all that white. Tell it how it would feel slipping down your throat. Share how much that "milk moustache" really turns you on. Remind it that it "does a body good!"

Otherwise, keep drinking as much as you can stand. If you're worried about the fat content, switch to semi-skimmed or skimmed milk.

I personally can't drink a lot of milk because I find it hard to digest -- it makes me cramped and bloated, and the toilet takes a hammering the next day. That's how nature told me what the "right" amount of milk was. (On second thought, I may have crossed the line into "too much information")

Clean bulk = eating nutrient dense food, milk is in that category
Dirty bulk = eating whatever you can get you hands on

Dirty bulk = eating whatever you can get you hands onEh.

Clean bulk = eating foods with protein, good low GI carbs, mono/poly fats, and little preservatives

Dirty bulk = eating foods that bring you to your daily calorie and protein goals, regardless of the other crap in it

Milk is high on the GI index.

Probably not the best for a bulk.

High GI?

And furthermore, why would that matter?

It has trans fat, it's loaded with saturated fats, and it's carb are high GI. Yet it is very good for bulking or cutting. This is why I argue the composition of food isn't close to as important as people think.

The only trans fats in milk would be the natural variety - CLA, which is very good for you. http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/livestock/dairy/facts/cla.htm

Natural saturated fat is important for immune response and a variety of endocrine functions, including testosterone production.

Eating a high GI food with a low GI food lowers the overall GI of what is consumed. GI is a pretty much outdated concept anyway - you're better off looking at the insulinemic response. Milk actually has a fairly low GI, but a high insulinemic response. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/494021

Admit it. Milk can be sexy. And even a little bit dirty, if you put your mind to it...

Okay. I accept that I might have just a little too much free time on my hands. That's what I get for incorporating "rest" days into my routine.

BTW, if any of you decide you want to replicate this experiment at home, can I please take this opportunity to warn you about the dangers of Google images. Choose your search terms carefully, because the results from searches such as "sexy milk images" are NOT suitable for work.

I may have nightmares all night!
