Hi, I've been lurking around the forums lately without posting. Here's another attempt at having a journal. I've never really been able to keep a journal up to date for more than a few days but who knows...

My goal these days is not as much about building new muscles but only to get back the muscles I once had and be in peak shape (that is to be lean and have good endurance). There is really only a few secondary muscles I'd like to strengthen like my forearms/grip/calves/abs.

I weigh 193 this morning, my waist is 36.5 around the love handles. My first objective is to lose the fat. To that end I'm first going to try TKD. I did TKD for about 3 weeks until I realized it wasn't working. I was eating 2300-2500 calories a day. The conclusion that I came to was that my metabolism was too slow going in the diet so I decided to speed it up by doing a 3000-3500 calories oatmeal/chicken diet for 2-3 weeks. Now I am starting again my TKD diet @ 2500 calories. Anyone has other ideas as to why a keto diet might not work (thyroid problem maybe?)

And to spice things up a bit, here are before and after pictures of last year's diet I did... went from 206-212 to about 180lbs following a carb rotation diet. The after pictures are smooth but bare in mind they were taken cold and carb depleted.

You;re much bigger than i expected, after reading the first post.

Good luck!

I'm eating about the same amount of calories, and dropping 1.5-2 pounds per week. But, I'm sitting at about 207 right now, give or take.

I would say that at 193, a pound a week is a safe bet for you.

You just wish we were bros so you could have french blood in you.

Diet has been around 2800, 2400, and today 2700. But these numbers doesn't really mean much until I get into ketosis, which should happen I suspect tomorrow or the day after. After that I'm going to try to maintain a 2300-2500 calories intake to begin with. I'm going to play hockey tonight, I wonder how that's going to feel like with just a few carbs in me.

I'm probably in keto by now although the keto stix indicates negative. If I'm still peeing negative next week I'll increase my fat intake a bit. I injured myself during the hockey game when I tried to stopped too fast, it was nasty but I'll be alright. Overall I felt weak and disoriented in the past few days, most likely because of the switch from carbs to fat as fuel which my body has to get adjusted to.

I finally peed a purple stix by upping my fat intake a bit. I'm really not gonna waste much time with TKD, if I don't get results quickly I'm gonna switch back to a regular diet. A few changes to my diet: Droping 1 meal (down to 5) because of work schedule and targetting 2100-2200 calories per day.

I think I just found out why my keto diet wasn't working. I am taking two servings of metamucil per day and while taking my late night serving I realized that metamucil actually tastes good and there must hence be something in it. I looked it up on the net and there are apparently plenty of carbs in it so I'll have to replace it by a sugar-free supplement.

I got sun burnt last weekend so I'm not so white anymore. For all those reading my journal (me), know that the keto diet is off. I'm not quite sure why it did not work this time and I don't really care. For now it is good bye keto, hello cheat meals and then I'll start another traditionnal diet.
